그리스는 향후 새로운 모든 IOC위원장선출개최聖地가 될 것(Greece will host the election of the new IOC presidents)이라고 그리스올림픽위원회(HOC: Hellenic Olympic Committee)위원장 겸 유럽올림픽위원회(EOC)위원장이 발표하였다고 합니다.
오는 4월16일 고대올림피아에서는 Paris 2024 올림픽 및 패럴림픽 성화 점화식이 열릴(The torch-lighting ceremony for the Paris 2024 Games will also take place at Ancient Olympia on 16 April)예정입니다.

AFP와의 인터뷰에서 그리스올림픽위원회(HOC) 위원장은 그리스가 고대올림피아에서 향후 모든 새로운 IOC위원장선출 붙박이성지로 고정화되기를 원한다(Greece wants to be the permanent host of the election of the new presidents of the International Olympic Committee at Ancient Olympia)고 언급하였다고 합니다.
Spyros Capralos HOC위원장은 “내 꿈은 IOC위원장 선거가 고대올림피아에서 열리는 것임. 그리함으로 모든 사람이 2,800년 전에 올림픽이 시작되었음을 상기시켜줄 것임”(My dream is that this election will take place in Ancient Olympia. It will remind everyone where the Games began 2,800 years ago)이라고 언급하였는데 이곳의 상징적 중요성은 비교 불가하다(The symbolic importance of this site is unparalleled)고 하면서 “고대올림피아에서 8년 또는 12년 마다 IOC위원장선출을 주관하는 것은 실행 가능함. 이것은 올림픽운동게에 참여하고 있는 모든 사람에게 긍정적인 큰 힘이 될 것으로 믿는 바임”(The organisation of the election of the IOC President in Ancient Olympia every eight or twelve years is feasible. 그리스는 Thomas Bach IOC위원장의 임기가 종료되는(when current IOC President Thomas Bach's term ends) 2025년을 앞두고 현재 2025년 3월 예정된 차기 IOC위원장선출을 주관할 예정이라고 합니다.

7)LA타임즈에 스토리로 실린 보도내용에 따르면 LA카운티교통당국이 2028년 올림픽기간동안 대중교통에 대한 책임을 둘러싸고 고민하고 있다(A Los Angeles Times story reported on a worried Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority over its responsibilities for public transportation during the 2028 Olympic Games)고 함. 하지만 지하철담당국장 겸 LA시의회의원인 Katy Yaroslavsky는 2028년 올림픽에 대하여 “대회를 빌미로 다른 방법으로는 해결할 수 없는 연방 및 주정부재정기금을 청구할 구실이 되기도 함”(It’s also an excuse to go after federal funding and state dollars in a way we might not otherwise be able to do)이라고 언급하였다고 함.

인도네시아올림픽위원회(NOC)는 이르면 2036년 올림픽개최를 탐구하는 인도네시아와 관련하여 IOC와 대화에 참여하여(has remained engaged with the IOC in the nation’s quest to host the Olympic Games as early as 2036) 왔다고 합니다.
Raja Sapta Oktohari NOC위원장은 Antara지에 따르면 “우리는 인도네시아 향후 2036년에 가능할 것으로 여기는 올림픽 개최국이 될 수 있도록 노력을 계속하고 있음”(We are continuing our efforts to make Indonesia a future Olympic host, likely in 2036)이라고 최근 확인하였다고 합니다

2032년 올림픽유치과정에서 NOC는 현 수도인 Jakarta를 유치후보도시로 내세우고 전면 캠페인에 돌입하였지만 호주 Brisbane2032에개 깜짝 선정으로 입도선매당한 바(a full campaign was preempted by the surprise awarding of the Games to Brisbane) 있습니다

차기올림픽개최지 선정에 관한 한 정해진 시간표가 없지만 차기 IOC위원장이 선출되는 해인 2025년 개최 IOC총회시까지는 2026년 올림픽개최도시선정이 없을 것으로 예상되고(a host selection is not expected) 있습니다.

3월 하순 José Perurena 국제월드게임협회(IWGA: International World Games Association)회장과 Thomas Bach IOC위원장이 Lausanne 소재 IOC본부(Olympic House)에서 만났다고 합니다.

IWGA회장과 IOC는 Paris 2024올림픽과 2025년 중국 Chengdu개최 월드 게임 준비와 관련하여 준비진척상황에 대하여 논의하였다(discussed the latest developments regarding the preparations for the next Olympic Games in Paris in 2024 and the World Games in Chengdu in 2025)고 합니다.
월드 게임(TWG: The World Games)는 IWGA가 운영하고 홍보하고 있는데 월드 게임은 4년 마다 열리는 국제종합대회로 35개 종목 정도를 포함하고 있으며 차기 제12회 월드 게임은 중국 Chengdu에서 2025년 8월7일~17일(10일 간)열리며 100여개국으로부터 5,000명의 선수가 참가할 것으로 예상되고(with an expected participation of 5,000 athletes from over 100 countries) 있다고 합니다.
양측간의 의견교환내용은 중국내 非 올림픽 스포츠 및 세부종목실시에 따른 개발에 초점이 맞춰졌다(The exchange of views focused on the development of non-Olympic sports and disciplines in China)고 합니다.

비영리국제스포츠단체(non-profit international sports organization)인 IWGA는 José Perurena가 회장직을 맡고 있는데 그는 월드 게임에 선수 참가를 독려하는데 NOCs가 핵심역할을 맡고 있다(NOC's are key to the promotion of athletes participating in the World Games)고 강조하였다고 합니다

이틀 전(3월31일) IOC에서 IOC문화 및 올림픽 헤리티지 위원들에게Paris올림픽 관련 스토리가 있으면 4월19일까지 보내 달라고 요청하는 서한을 받았습니다.

Beijing-Osaka-Toronto-Istanbul에 이어 마지막 방문 도시였던 Paris에서의 경험한 생생한 에피소드 중 프랑스대통령궁(Palais d’Elysee)에서 당시 Jacques Chirac 프랑스대통령과 만나 면담 자리에서 미리 준비하여 제가 구사한 현란한(?) 64가지 불어 어휘 이야기를 포함하여 성공기원 PARIS 5행시까지 작시하여 작성한 후 IOC에 오늘 오전에 발송하였습니다.
Paris 2024올림픽 및 패럴림픽의 성공을 기원합니다.
다음은 Paris가 2008년올림픽 유치후보도시 당시 IOC평가위원으로 공식 방문 시 당시 Jacques Chirac대통령과의 공식 면담에서 필자의 불어 발언 그리고 Paris2024올림픽을 향한 PARIS 5행시 등을 공유합니다:
[Reminiscences of Paris and Tribute to the Former French President Jacques Chirac who loved most the Olympic Games in Paris]
When it comes to Paris, it reminds me that Paris, France was the birth place of the IOC, and birth country of Baron Pierre de Coubertin who was the Founding Father of the IOC in 1894 and the Renovator of the modern Olympic Games in 1896 and the 2nd IOC President over 30 years (1896~1925).

Having been awarded the IOC Pierre de Coubertin Medal at first hand from IOC President Thomas Bach on 21 October 2022 at the time of the 2022 ANOC General Assembly in Seoul, and having served the Olympic Movement during the last 40 years, it was indeed my greatest personal honor during my lifetime Olympic career. God bless the Olympic Movement!

Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate my special gratitude and appreciation from the bottom of my heart to IOC President Thomas Bach who generously presented it to me on behalf of Korea.
Paris already played host to the Olympic Games in 1900 and 1924, and is about to host its 3rd Games, the 33rd edition in 2024.
I still vividly remember Paris like I smell the fresh paint!
When I served as a member of the IOC Evaluation Commission for the 2008 Olympics under the chairmanship of the late Hein Verbruggen(then-UCI President and IOC member in Netherlands), the Commission members paid a visit to 5 short-listed finalist candidates cities out of 12 applicant cities in the initial bidding process in 2000~2001.
At that time, Paris was the last (but not the least) candidate city after Beijing, Osaka, Toronto, and Istanbul all bidding for the 2008 Olympics in 2001 that the IOC Evaluation Commission Delegation officially visited for on-site inspections and technical assessments.

Welcoming Red Carpet was rolled out upon our arrival at Charles De Galle International Airport. When all of the IOC Commission members were cordially invited by then-President Jacques CHIRAC to the Palais d'Eysée, Mr. Hein VERBRUGGEN as our Chairman talked with Mr. President in French.
As the conversation continued only between Hein and Mr. President Chirac, President Chirac, looking around the Commission Members, asked if there were any Member to join the conversation, and then Mr. Guy DRUT and Mr. Jean Claude KILLY, IOC Members, for France invited me to speak to President Chirac, saying “Rocky, vous avez posé beaucoup de questions en francais dans la réunion (Rocky you asked many questions in French in the meeting)”
As nobody else spoke, I commented in French with the permission of our Chairman (Hein Verbruggen).

”Je suis sûr, certain, convincu, et persuadé que(I am sure, certain, convinced and persuaded that) le programme de la manifestation culturelle de la céré monie d'ouverture des Jeux olympique en France sous le ciel de Paris(the cultural program of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in France under the sky of Paris) sera excellent, passionant, impressionant, intéressant, ravissant, charmant, élégant, flamboyant, romantique, dynamique, chic, magique, fantastique, magnifique, symblique, historique, unique, merveilleux, mystérieux, superbe, splendide, mémorable, inoubliable, adorable, admirable, remarquable, notable, incomparable, inégalable, incroyable, impeccable, irré sistible et spectaculaire (excellent, passionate, impressive, interesting, delightful, charming, elegant, flamboyant, romantic, dynamic, stylish, magical, fantastic, magnificent, symbolic, historic, unique, wonderful, mysterious, superb, splendid, memorable, unforgettable, adorable, admirable, remarkable, notable, incomparable, matchless, incredible, impeccable, irresistible, and spectacular)”
As a result of my ample source of French vocabulary, President Chirac smiled and spoke highly of my French saying that I was the best French Speaking Foreigner. But I must confess that I had prepared some French vocabulary the night before just in case. Hein Verbruggen, Els Van Breda Vriesman, Gilbert Felli, Patrick Baumann (Secretary General of International Basketball Federation), Carlos Nuzman spoke better French than I.
Good old memories about Paris 23 years ago.
I wish Paris 2024 and the Olympic Movement another resounding success!!!

[Paris 2024 자원봉사자컨벤션(Volunteer Convention)과 기념우표발행 및 준비상황 이모저모(3월 말 현재)]
1.자원봉사자 관련
Paris 2024올림픽 및 패럴림픽 조직위원회는 3월23일 40,000명의 자원봉사자들과 함께 자원봉사자 컨벤션이벤트행사를 La Défense Arena in Nanterre에서 개최하였다고 합니다.
동 행사 동안 자원봉사자들은 올림픽 및 페럴림픽 대회 전반에 대하여 탐구하며 대회기간 중 착용하게 될 유니폼도 보면서 축제 분위기와 같은 기회(the opportunity to spend a festive day exploring the Games and discovering their uniform)를 만끽하였다고 합니다.
5월 중 AD카드와 유니폼을 수거하기 전(before collecting their accreditations and uniforms in May)인 3월 말과 4월 초순에 걸쳐 자원봉사자들은 온라인 트레이닝을 시작하게 될 것이며 7월이후 배치되어 본격적으로 업무를 하게 될 경기장 등 해당구역숙지작업(getting to know the venue where they will be working from July onwards)에 돌입하게 된다고 합니다.
2.공식 기념우표 발행
Paris 2024올림픽 및 패럴림픽 공식 우표(official stamp)가 최근 공개되었다(unveiled recently)고 합니다
공식 우표는 4월5일부처 판매가 시작되며 80만장이 발행될 것이라고 합니다.
색채감이 풍부하고 역동적이며 대담함을 담고 있는 우표는 Paris 2024대회의 시각적 정체성(visual identity)을 돋보이게 하는 Neo Art Deco graphic blocks을 사용하고 있다고 합니다
공식 우표는 Paris를 전세계에 널리 홍보하게 하는 아이콘 장소들 중 두 곳을 특징적으로 부각시키는데 하나가 에펠 탑이고 또 하나가 센느 강(the Eiffel Tower and the River Seine)을 중심으로 육상 트랙과 고무공과 같은 스포츠를 살려주는 요소들이 함께(along with sporting elements such as athletics tracks and bouncing balls) 가미되었다고 합니다.
3.Paris 2024패럴림픽 메인프레스센터 위치변경
추가로 Paris2024 이사회(Board of Directors)는 IPC집행부(Governing Board)의 승인을 전제로 패럴림픽의 메인프레스센터(MPC)위치를 변경할 것(a change of location)을 확인하였다고 합니다.
당초 올림픽수영센터(Olympic Aquatics Centre) 인근임시시설에 배치하기로 계획되었는데 이제 Saint-Dennis에 있는 Paris 204조직위원회 본부인 “Pulse”내에 위치하게 될 것이라고 합니다.
