[French Alps 2030
1) Roberti

Roberti on double duty with French Alps interim takeover
The 2030 Olympics organisers named the veteran official and current director general the Organising Committee president on a temporary basis on Monday, while they sort through candidates to assume the post permanently after Edgar Grospiron's exit.
A rule exemption was needed to tweak procedure, but the Winter Games project officially has a new COJOP head… at least for the time being.
As expected, Vincent Roberti is now the person in charge, with 'now' the operative word in the latest decision aimed at navigating the ongoing leadership crisis within, which had been brewing for about a year as Grospiron clashed often with fellow officials during his short tenure at the helm of the Winter Games' production efforts.
"This solution aims to ensure the stability of governance and the continuity of the Organising Committee's activities pending the appointment of a new chairperson," the COJOP stated in a press release, as stakeholders reiterated their desire to take the proper time to find the right person for the job; maybe even two officials operating in unison, according to insiders.
With the list of possible long-term replacements still unclear, organisers chose who they hope can provide a steady hand —albeit temporary— in Roberti, who had climbed on board the Olympic train in May, when he was officially approved by members of the executive board as director general, taking full responsibility in June. "The coming months will be crucial for continuing our development, consolidating our ambitious project, and entering the operational planning and delivery phase," the French official forecasted then. On Monday, he specified that "I will carry out this interim role as long as necessary."
The man he now replaces at the very top of the organisational pyramid, Grospiron, had proposed that Roberti take over the position of director general left vacant in February by Cyril Linette after internal disagreements between the two executives finally unravelled and forced the latter's exit, which headlined a notable list of departures from high ranking officials —Chief Operating Officer Anne Murac, Communications Director Arthur Richer and the Head of the Remuneration Committee, Bertrand Méheut, among others— who clashed often with the former.
Roberti, a senior civil servant, previously served as director of central administration at the Ministry of the Interior and Overseas Territories. An engineer by training, the 59-year-old has also held various positions within the local government. When originally selecting him, the French Alps organising committee praised his "high-quality track record, marked by the management of complex projects, the transformation of large-scale organisations and the management of sensitive institutional environments."
'Sensitive', the current COJOP internal landscape appears to be, as an audit on its social climate was launched among the Olympic body's employees this summer, with the results expected to be delivered this week.
The first order of business for Roberti will be hosting the International Olympic Committee for a three-day visit by its Co-ordination Commission (CoCom) to Lyon and its major Olympic sports centre after ice events relocated to the southern metropolis in May following a muscle flex by new Nice Mayor Eric Ciotti —who opposed the installation of a temporary rink in his city's football stadium—, thus rendering Grospiron's already unstable ground even shakier.
After the decision to move on from the 57-year-old after less than two years in office was made official last week, an extraordinary general assembly of the COJOP was held early Monday in order to modify the statutes of the body which provided that the interim president could only be ensured by a member of his executive office—the State, the Olympic and Paralympic committees, and the organising regions Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur—.
Names of possible long-term replacements started to surface shortly after: from Olympic biathlon champion Vincent Jay, who was involved in the initial project but was later dismissed as Grospiron took office; to Michel Vion, who just left the International Ski Federation after a career as a world champion skier, then as a manager at the French Ski Federation; or Étienne Thobois, Paris 2024's chief executive officer.
Some outlets have also pointed out to the possibility of former acquaintance Martin Fourcade, the French biathlon star who withdrew from the race before Grospiron took over; or even Henri Giscard d'Estaing, former the former chief executive officer of Club Med, with him and Vion seemingly gathering favour from stakeholders from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
While rumours swirl, Roberti will hopefully keep the organisational top seat warm long enough for ensure a smoother transition than the leadup to the managerial change could provide. His low profile in what has become a notable public relations and political imbroglio seems to have factored in the logical decision to take Grospiron's relay as the de-facto second-in-command; and the country’s top sports officials expect his proven credentials do more for the French Alps 2030 Games than his predecessor’s moxie —often rubbing others the wrong way— ever did.
"I am a manager by experience. For nearly 30 years, I have held various senior management positions, which reflect my passion for public service. With extensive management experience, I have implemented complex public policies and led major projects (…) as well as large-scale property and infrastructure developments, whilst optimising budgets and resources," Roberti’s LinkedIn profile sums up. "In central government, I gained the practical experience that can only be acquired on the ground, whilst in local government I developed the essential qualities required for management and the delivery of major projects."
Pierre-Olivier Beckers-Vieujant, the head of the IOC's coordination commission for the 2030 Games acknowledged that the tensions during Grospiron's tenure were evident, with stakeholders often complaining that "they did not feel their voices were being heard enough" and said officials from the world governing body had been "impressed by the experience, professionalism and calm leadership he (Roberti) has brought to this project since his arrival".
