[프랑스 국회의원들, IOC에게 이스라엘의 Paris 2024올림픽 출전 금지 등 제재조치 촉구하다]
2월24일 자 외신 보도 내용인데 26명의 프랑스 의회 의원들이 IOC에 서한을 보내 Gaza지구에서의 분쟁 촉발로 인해(over the conflict in Gaza)이스라엘이 Paris 2024올림픽 출전을 금지시켜 달라는 촉구를 하였다고 합니다.
Thomas Bach IOC위원장에게 보내 서한에서 26명의 프랑스 의회 의원들은 이스라엘에 대한 제재조치와 함께 이스라엘 국기와 국가를 사용하여 출전하는 것을 금지해 달라는 것(called for Israel to be sanctioned and banned from competing under its flag and anthem)이 요지라고 합니다.
프랑스 야당의원들은 “이스라엘이 Gaza지구내 팔레스타인인들에 대해 전례 없는 전쟁 범죄를 저지르고 있음”(the unprecedented war crimes committed by Israel" against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip)이라고 이스라엘 규탄 성명 내용을 인용하였다(The opposition lawmakers cited their condemnation)고 합니다.
프랑스 의회 위원들(the French represantatives)은 이스라엘 선수들 역시 러시아선수들 및 벨라루스 선수들과 동일한 제재조치, 즉, 이스라엘 선수들도 러시아선수들처럼 오는 7월 개막하는 Paris 2024 올림픽 및 패럴림픽에 중립선수자격으로 출전하도록 조치해 줄 것(called for Israeli athletes to be subject to the same sanctions as Russians and Belarusians, i.e. to compete neutrally)을 촉구하였다고 합니다.
그들은 또한 이러한 제한조치가 적용될 경우 Gaza지구 분쟁의 전체 기간 동안 유지시켜야 하며 장기간의 정전이 선포될 때까지 그리 할 것을 촉구하였다(called for these restrictions, if applied, to remain in place for the entire duration of the Gaza conflict and until a long-term ceasefire is announced)고 합니다
2023년 11월 배포된 UN통계수치에 따르면(According to UN figures released in November 2023), 560명의 어린이들을 포함하여 대략 10,000명의 민간인들이 거의 2년에 걸쳐 벌어진 우크라이나에서의 전쟁 여파로 사망하였다(some 10,000 civilians, including 560 children, have died as a result of the war in Ukraine over almost two years)고 합니다.
이러한 경악을 자아내는 수치(this alarming figure) 4개월 간의 전쟁 후 발생한 사망률이 4만명에 육박하고 대부분이 어린이들로 7만명으로 추정되는 부상자를 기록한 중동지역에서 훨씬 더 넘어서고 있다(far exceeded in the Middle East region, where the death toll after four months of war is approaching 40,000, with an estimated 70,000 wounded, most of them children)고 합니다
IOC는 러시아 및 벨라루스 출신 선수들에 대하여 공공연하게 러시아의 우크라이나 침공을 지지하는 선수들의 출전은 금지하는 반면 그렇지 않은 선수들은 독자적이고 중립 선수자격으로 Paris 2024올림픽 및 패럴림픽 출전을 허용할 것이라고 이미 발표한 바(already announced that athletes from Russia and Belarus will be allowed to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games as independent and neutral athletes, while athletes who have publicly supported Russia's invasion of Ukraine will be banned) 있습니다.
