[Bach IOC위원장, Paris 2024올림픽이 전세계환영준비모드에서 정상적으로 전진 중(Paris is on track to welcome the world)이라고 확언하다]
3월21일 외신 보도 내용입니다.
Bach IOC위원장은 3월19일~20일 양일 간 개최된 2024년도 1/4분기 IOC집행위원회를 마치면서 행한 기자회견에서 Paris 2024 올림픽 조직위원회 브리핑 보고를 받고 Paris2024 올림픽 준비 현재 상태를 간결하게 정리하면서(Paris 2024 status in a nutshell) Paris 2024올림픽에 대한 발언 내용입니다:
1)“제반 준비는 일사천리로 잘 진행중임”(The preparations are going extremely well. …)
2)“모든 것이 종합적으로 Paris는 전세계를 환영할 준비 절차가 장착되어 있으며 시종일관 올림픽 어젠더 2020에 명시된 것과 딱 들어맞게 특별한 올림픽을 선사할 준비 채비를 착착 진행 중임”(All together, Paris is on track to welcome the world and to deliver exceptional Olympic Games, in line – and fully in line, from the start to the finish – with Olympic Agenda 2020.)
3)“그래서 Paris 2024올림픽은 더 젊어지게 될 것이며 더 도시 풍으로 치러질 것이고 더 많은 것을 포용할 것이고 더 지속 가능한 대회가 될 것이며 여러분이 아시다시피 IOC는 남녀선수들에 대한 쿼터를 동일하게 할당하여 왔음으로 Paris 2024 올림픽은 완전한 양성평등 대회가 될 것임”(So these Olympic Games Paris 2024 will be younger, they will be more urban, they will be more inclusive, they will be more sustainable and, as you know, the IOC has allocated the same number of quota places for male athletes and for female athletes, so they will be the first Olympic Games with full gender parity.)
4)“우리는 모든 사람이 무엇에 염두에 두어야하며 세상에서 대규모 이벤트에 있어서 조직을 관장하는 사람의 주요한 근심거리가 무엇이어야 하는지를 불행하게도 여러분이 알고 있다고 이야기 한 바 있으며 그것은 바로 안전문제임”(We talked also about what has to be on everybody’s mind and what unfortunately you know has to be a major concern for every organizer of a big event in world, and this is security.)
5)“안전문제에 관하여 우리는 스포츠를 관장하는 프랑스 각료 대표인 Mr. Michel Cadot가 제출한 또 하나의 매우 포괄적인 보고 내용에 대하여 청취하였으며 그 결과 우리는 프랑스 관계당국에 대하여 완전한 신뢰를 같게 되었으며 프랑스 관계당국으로서는 그들의 국제적 파트너들과의 매우 긴밀한 협력관계로부터 실리를 취할 수 있는 것임을 알려드리는 바임”(There, we received another very comprehensive report by the [French] Interministerial Delegate [for Sport], Mr. Michel Cadot, and as a result, I can inform you that we have full confidence in the French authorities, and the French authorities, [in] their turn they can also benefit from a very close cooperation with their international partners.)
그러면서 Bach IOC위원장은 Paris 올림픽이 이렇게 어려운 세상에서 희망적인 이벤트가 될 수 있겠다고 자신의 희망을 재차 반복하였다(Bach reiterated his hope that the Paris Games can be a hopeful event in a difficult world)고 합니다:
6)“지구촌에 살고 있는 사람들은 날마다 접하고 있는 분노, 침략, 극단적으로 부정적인 뉴스, 전쟁, 분쟁과 갈등 상황에 진저리를 치고 있음. 그리고 여러분은 그들이 우리의 마음과 같이 긍정적인 메시지를 갈망하고 있다는 감정을 통렬하게 공감하고 있음. 그들은 모든 이러한 분열과 침략 안에 내재되어 있는 통합적인 그 무엇을 찾고 있음. 그리고 그렇게 암울한 시대지만 어쩌면 우리에게 희망을 줄 수 있는 그 무엇을 찾고 있는 것임”(The people around the globe are fed up with all the hate, the aggression, the extremely negative news, wars, conflicts they are facing day in and day out. And you really get the feeling that they, as we, in our hearts, they are longing for a positive message. They are looking for something what is unifying them in all these divisions and aggression. And they are looking for something what gives us hope in these otherwise so dark times.)
IOC가 평화를 구축하기 위해 실제적으로 할 수 있는 것이 무엇이냐는 질문에 대하여(Asked if the IOC can actually help make peace) Bach IOC위원장은 이 세계에서의 IOC의 입장과 IOC가 기여할 수 있는 것이 무엇인지에 대하여 다음과 같이 설명하였다고 합니다:
7)“우리는 평화를 구축할 만한 힘도 없으며 사람들로 하여금 서로를 증오하지 말라고, 그렇게 공격적으로 행동하지 말라고, 설득할 힘도 가지고 있지 않음. 우리의 임무는 이 세상에서 일어나고 있는 모든 이런 것들에도 불구하고 우리가 모두 함께 모일 수 있는 것이 여전히 가능하다는 시그널을 보내는 것임. 그리고 이것이 우리가 느끼고 있는 것임---이것이 수 백만 심지어 수억만 명에 해당하는 지구촌 사람들의 느낌이라고 할 수 있음”(We don’t have the power to make peace and to convince people not to hate each other, not to be so aggressive. Our mission is to send a signal, to set a symbol that despite all of these what is happening in the world, it is still possible to come together. And this is what we feel and … that this is a feeling of many, many millions or even billions of people around the globe.)
