미국 외교 하우스 (USA Diplomacy House)에서 어제오후내내 미국 College Community 박람회(Fair)에 Washington 주 Seattle 선도 대학 중 하나인 Pierce College를 중심으로 15개 미국 각 주 커뮤니티 대학(USA College Community)을 대표하는 관계자들이 함께한 자리인데 한국 학생과 부모 및 관련 전국 대학 및 일부 고교 학부 관계자 대상 행사에 초대되어 3시간 반 동안 통역 봉사하였습니다.
미국 Washing 주 Seattle 거주 아시아라켓볼연맹 사무총장의 간곡한 요청으로 Pierce College Cindy Schaarschmidt 국제교육 담당수석국장(Executive Director of International Education)인 Cindy를 통한 수고 비 제안을 사전에 정중히 거절하고 pro-bono(무료 봉사)로 통역자원봉사 하였습니다.

선호 전공과목을 선택하여 2년간 전공한 후 미국내 선호 대학교 3학년으로 편입하는 편리한 시스템이라고 합니다.
이러한 미국 교육시스템을 한국 스포츠 선수들을 비롯하여 경기단체 직원들에게도 장학생 선발 방식으로 적용하면 좋을 것 같다는 생각입니다.
[2025년 중국Chengdu개최월드게임(World Games 2025 in Chengdu)에 격투기 삼보(Combat Sambo) 정식종목추가]
격투기 삼보(Combat SAMBO)종목이 The World Games의 정식종목으로 채택되어 2025년 8월7일~17일 중국 Chengdu에서 선 보일 예정이라고 합니다.
격투기삼보종목은 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg 급 등 5개 남자 체급(weight categories)과 54 kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg, 80 kg 급 등 여자 체급 및 1개의 혼성단체경기(a mixed team competition)로 나뉘어 메달이 수여된다고 합니다.
대회출전선수선발은 2024년도 개최 국제삼보대회(유럽-아시아 및 오세아니아/아프리카-미주) 경기결과를 기준으로 삼는다고 합니다:
1)유럽: 각 체급 별 최고 랭킹 Samboist 2명씩 선발
2)아시아 및 오세아니아: 각 체급 별 최고 랭킹 Samboist 2명씩
3)아프리카: 각 체급 별 최고 랭킹 Samboist 1명씩
4)미주: 각 체급별 최고 랭킹 Samboist 1명씩
5)중국의 경우: 개최국으로 각 체급별 1명씩 허용
와일드 카드: 각 대륙 별 대회 참가자들 중 랭킹선발결과 해당되지 않는(not included in the number of participants for the Games based on the results of the rank selection) 국가 연맹들 중 신청에 근거하여 제출된 후보자들 중 추첨 방식으로 각 체급별 1명씩(one wild card in each weight category by drawing lots among candidates based on applications from national sambo federations)
삼보 선수들(Samboists)은 Kazakhstan개최 2024년세계삼보선수권대회와 Armenia와 Kyrgystan개최 2024년 월드컵 삼보대회를 비롯하여 2024년도 내내 열리는 대륙 별 삼보대회에 출전하여 출전 자격 점수를 획득할 수 있음

SAMBO는 2022년 미국 Birmingham 월드 게임과 비교하여 Chengdu2025월 드 게임에 추가된 새로운 3개 종목 들 중 하나라고 합니다.
Sambo종목을 관장하는 국제연맹인 FIAS(International SAMBO Federation)는 2021년에 IWGA(International World Games Association)의 회원 단체가 되었으며 이전에 SAMBO는 London1985(영국), The Hague1993(네덜란드)월드 게임 정식종목 이었다고 합니다
2025년 월드 게임은 12번째 대회로써 올림픽에 포함되지 않은 종목(sports) 및 세부종목(sporting disciplines)으로 구성되며 중국 Chengdu에서 2025년 8월7일~17일(11일간)
World Games은 “탁월함을 넘어선 성장”(Growth Beyond Excellence)를 전략 문건을 기치로 하여 열리는 첫 대회이며, 아시아에서는 두 번째로 열리는 대회이고 중국으로선 첫 월드 게임(The World Games)이라고 합니다.

2월24일 외신 보도 내용 핵심 요약입니다.
700건의 학술 연구 검토에서(in a review of 700 studies), 스페인 카탈로니아 Oberta대학교(UOC: Universitat Oberta de Catalunya )는 건강기능식품으로의 인삼 섭취가 신체운동 후 회복을 돕고 경기력 향상과 부상 방지에 도움이 될 수 있다(taking ginseng as a dietary supplement can help the body recover from physical exercise, improve performance and prevent injury)는 사실을 알아냈다고 합니다.
인삼은 세계에서 가장 인기 만점의 건강기능 식품 중 하나이며 식물과 약초의 다양한 성분이 함유되어 있어서 항 염증, 항 산화, 및 항암 효과가 있다고 암시하는 수 많은 연구와 함께 많은 유익함이 있는 것으로 생각되고 있다고 합니다.(Ginseng is one of the most popular food supplements in the world. 이제 UOC 연구관 그룹은 인삼이 카탈로니아 대학교에 알린 바와 같이 운동에도 도움을 줄 수 있다는 사실을 알아냈다고 합니다(Now, a group of researchers from the UOC have found that it can also help with exercise as it informs the Catalan University.)
연구에 참여한 Muñoz연구관에 따르면 “균형적인 다이어트의 일환으로 복용하면, 인삼은 선수들이나 정규적으로 운동을 하는 누구에게나 부가적인 에너지원을 공급해 줄 수 있음. 의학적으로 특정한 경우에 사용금지되지 않았을 사례를 제외하고, 인삼을 정기적으로 섭취하면 건강한 사람들에게 유익한(최소 유해하지 않은) 것으로 간주됨”(Taken as part of a balanced diet, ginseng can provide an extra source of energy for athletes or anyone who exercises regularly. 1)올림픽 마케팅 및 스폰서십전문가인 Terrence Burns는 올림픽 스폰서들(TOP파트너)이 올림픽을 기타 다른 스포츠 프로그램과 유사하게 취급함으로 최선의 기회를 놓치고 있지 않는지 의아해 함 (Longtime Olympic marketing and sponsorship expert Terrence Burns wonders whether Olympic sponsors are missing their best opportunities by treating the Games like any other sports program.)
(1)IOC의 TOP스폰서십프로젝트는 사실상 LA1984올림픽조직위원회 Peter Ueberroth 위원장과 Joel Rubenstein부위원장이 고안하여 추진한 스폰서십 혁명을 바탕으로 발전시킨 파생 물(a direct outgrowth of the sponsorship revolution)임. Dl 마케팅 모델은 가능한 소수정예 스폰서들을 카테고리 별 고급스러움과 배타성을 강조하는 형태이며 IOC는 전세계 시장으로 영역을 넓혀 개선하였음. 아직까지 이 모델은 성공적이지만 IOC는 올림픽 채널 온라인으로 확장시키는 노력을 하고 있음. 더구나 IOC는 스폰서들의 영역 확대를 도모하기 위해 차기 올림픽 1년, 심지어 2년 전 까지 홍보효과를 극대화 시키기 위해 종목별 올림픽출전자격 부여 이벤트에도 진입시키기 위한 계획을 시작하였음. IOC의 새로운 영역인 Olympic Esports Games를 2026년부터 시작하려는 노력을 기울이고 있음.
(2)올림픽 스폰서들은 해당기업이미지를 높이기 위해 단순히 오륜 마크를 해당기업 제품에 부착시키는 것에 국한하는 경향이 있음. 다른 스포츠 프로그램과는 달리 올림픽은 2,800년 전 그리스 고대 올림피아에서 종교적 의식으로부터 창안된 것(Unlike any other sporting program, the Olympic Games comes out of a religious ritual created exactly 2,800 years ago, in ancient Olympia in Greece)임
(3)오늘날 “우선 이기고 보자”식의 인식(win-first mentalities)과 속임수(cheating), 조작/부정(fraud) 등의 문제의 모두가 존재하고 있지만 고대올림픽은 293회 동안 대회가 연속적으로 이어졌는데 Paris2024올림픽은 33회차로써 고대올림픽의 293회에 비하면 어린애 정도로 비견할(a comparative child) 수 있음. 하지만 근대올림픽의 새로운 버전은 힘을 가지고 있으며 올림픽이 축구대회나 미식축구 또는 농구 등 타 대회와는 다르다는 대중적 상상력으로 고유영역을 구축해 옴
(4)하지만 올림픽스폰서들의 경우 이러한 의식을 찾아보기 어려운 실정임. 사람들은 올림픽을 다르다고 느끼고 있으며 참가 선수들 역시 Chicago Bears 또는 LA Lakers심지어 Lionel Messi와 Inter Miami와 같이 그들이 선호하는 팀이 누구든 간에 올림픽에서는 자국을 대표한다는 자긍심이 있다라는 것에 방점이 있음
(5)하지만 TOP스폰서 홍보 방향과 정책을 살펴보면 감성(emotion)과 존중(respect)과 칭송(admiration)은 최소한 아직까지는 찾아보기 어려움
2)러시아 안전 보안 이사회 부의장인 Dmitry Medvedev(2008년~2012년 러시아 대통령 역임/2012년~2020년 러시아 총리 역임)는 2월20일 기자들에게 우크라이나 침공 전쟁은 최종 목표인 우크라이나의 수도 Kyiv점령시까지 계속될 것(the war against Ukraine will continue with the ultimate goal of taking Kyiv still in focus)이라고 언급함. [Husain Al-Musallam 세계수영연맹회장 겸 OCA전 사무총장, 쿠웨이트스포츠당국의 범죄혐의조사착수 요청(Criminal Investigation)과 그 배경 이야기 Part II]
2월17일자 외신 보도입니다.
Husain Al-Musallam 세계 수영(World Aquatics)회장이 자신의 아내와 자녀가 소유주로 있는 회사와 수 백만 불짜리 계약을 체결했을 지도 모른다(may have awarded a multi-million dollar contract to a company owned by his wife and children)는 소식입니다.
쿠웨이트 스포츠당국은 동 사건을 검찰에 이에 대한 고소장을 넘겼다고(Kuwait's sports authority has referred the case over to the public prosecutor)합니다.
Husain Al-Musallam이 창설한 수영 청렴도 관리 소위원회(Aquatics Integrity Unit)이나 IOC 또는 OCA윤리위원회(Al Musallam이 개인적으로 선출하여 임명하였고 조종하여 왔음(handpicked and controlled by Al-Musallam)등이 그를 구해내지 못할 경우, 이러한 여파로 세계수영연맹(World Aquatics)은 아마도 다시 새 회장을 선출해야 할 것(will probably have to look for a new president)으로 전망하기도 합니다.

여러 가지 사안을 위반한 범죄 혐의자, 뇌물 공여자 그리고 글로벌 범죄 사건에 연루된 공모자에게(for the alleged multiple offender, bribe-payer and number three co-conspirator in a global criminal case) 점점 고통스러움이 다가오고(Things are getting troublesome)있다고 합니다.
Doha개최 세계수영선수권대회와는 별도로 Husain Al-Musallam은 자신의 새로운 국가이기도 한 헝가리 대표단을 만나기도 하였는데 이것은 우연이 아니라(no coincidence that on the sidelines of the World Cup in Doha, Al-Musallam also met with representatives of his new adopted country, Hungary) 는 이야기가 들립니다.
그는 심지어 성적 학대로 인해 그 이후(who has since resigned over a sexual abuse pardon) 사임한 헝가리 대통령 Katalin Novák까지도 만났다고 합니다.
그는 세계수영연맹(World Aquatics)본부를 2027년까지 헝가리 Budapest로 이동하기를 원하고 있다고 합니다.
올림픽 산업계에서는 이미 오래전부터 파다한 소문이 돌고 있는데 그는 이미 헝가리 여권을 취득하였으며 그곳에 최소 한 채의 부동산을 소유하고 있다(long been rumoured in the Olympic industry that he has already acquired a Hungarian passport and at least one property there)는 것입니다.
많은 관계자들은 그 부동산 취득 시 그가 지불한 돈의 출처에 대해 의문을 제기하여(Many have speculated as to the source of the money used to pay for it)왔으며 그 돈이 Husain 책임 하에 있는 스포츠 관련 기구로부터 흘러나온 것인지 심지어 불법 출처로부터 인지 여부에 대한 의혹도 제기되고(whether the money comes from sports organisations for which Husain Al-Musallam is responsible or even from more illicit sources) 있다고 합니다.
또 하나의 의문시 되는 이벤트가 세계수영선수권대회(Doha)와는 별도의 장소에서 개최(Another questionable event took place on the sidelines of the World Aquatics Championships in Doha)되었는데: 그것은 임시 아시아수영연맹총회로 총회에서는 명백하게 사라진 수 백만 불과 관련된 논의 사항도 함께 다뤄졌다(the extraordinary Asian Aquatics Congress, which also dealt with the apparent missing millions)고 합니다.
THE INQUISITOR는 이러한 혼란스러운 총회 회의 동영상 장면을 입수하였는데 Husain Al-Musallam이 회의를 좌지우지하려고 시도하였으며 사라진 수 백만 불에 대한 이슈는 애써 축소시키려 하였다(obtained video footage of this turbulent meeting in which Al-Musallam attempted to take control and play down the issue of the missing millions)는 것입니다.
동 총회에서는 아시아수영연맹 지도부선출과 관련 괴상망측한 명시적 선거를 통해 자신과 자신을 동조하는 측근들이 유리하도록 하는 내용을 포함하여(including a bizarre express election of the leadership of Asia Aquatics, which went in favour of him and his accomplices) 몇 가지 규칙이 허물어 진 것처럼 보이기도(Several rules appear to have been broken at this congress) 했다고 합니다.
그와 관련된 새로운 몇 건의 문건(new documents)도 있지만 지금으로선 잠재적 범죄 건에만 초점을 맞춰 본다는(focus on the potential criminal case) 것이 THE INQUISITOR의 의도라고 합니다.
지난 주에 THE INQUISITOR가 세세히 상황을 묘사한 바 대로, Husain Al-Musallam은 범죄 위반혐의 의혹 당사자(suspected of a criminal offence)이며 이번에는 쿠웨이트올림픽위원회(KOC)사무총장 자격으로 벌인 죄목혐의라고 합니다.
연루된 해당 금액 액수(the amount involved)는 KWD3,424,500(약 €10.4 million/약 155.6억원)로 알려져 있으며 Husain Al-Musallam은 의심스러운 정황의 일련의 거래와 연관되어(linked to a series of suspicious deals) 왔다고 합니다
유죄선고를 받은 Sheikh Ahmad(전 ANOC-OCA회장 겸 자격정지 중인 IOC위원)의 핵심 최 측근 겸 뇌물 공여 자로서 FIFA범죄사건에도 노출된(exposed in the FIFA criminal case as a bribe-payer and confidant of convicted Olympic sheikh Al-Sabah) Husain Al-Musallam은 다시 한번 수상한 거래로 고발된 것(once again been accused of shady dealings)이라고 합니다.
Husain Al-Musallam은 지난 2021년 12월 제3회 Gulf 게임에 배정된 국가 기금 일부를 자신의 아내와 아들 딸들이 소유하고 있는 회사인 Dynamic General Trading & Contracting에게 넘겨 준 의혹을 받고(alleged to have awarded part of the state funding for the third Gulf Games in December 2021 to Dynamic General Trading & Contracting, a company owned by his wife, sons and daughters) 있다고 합니다.
또 하나의 문건에는 Dynamic General Trading Import and Export로 언급된 회사가 나온다(Another document mentions a company called Dynamic General Trading Import and Export is mentioned)고 합니다
아마도 2개의 회사(There may be two companies)가 연루된 것으로 보이며 2024년 2월13일자 서한에는 쿠웨이트 관련 당국이 동 건을 검찰청에 이첩하였다(the authorities referred the case to the General Public Prosecutor Office)고 합니다(출처/ Source: Ahmad Alsalami on X)
Husain Al-Musallam 은 지난 주THE INQUISITOR에게 어떠한 비리도 부인하였으며(denied any wrongdoing) 자신이 조정 통제하고 있는 KOC윤리위원회가 발송한 서한을 제출하였는데 서한 내용은 그에 대한 혐의에 면죄부를 준 것(supposedly exonerates him)으로 추정된다고 합니다. 그 서한의 진위여부에 대한 신뢰성은 불분명(The authenticity of the letter is unclear)하다고 합니다.
쿠웨이트 정부 스포츠당국은 제출한 사실입증근거가 형사 사건으로 개시되기에 충분하다고 믿고 있다(The state sports authority believes the facts are clear enough to open a criminal case)고 합니다.

1)KOC조사관들로 하여금 KOC위원장에게 올림픽 관련 회사와의 의혹 혐의가 다분한 연계성에 대하여 경종을 울리면서 고발 대상이 됨(The subject of a complaint that led KOC investigators to alert the head of the NOC to an alleged association with an Olympics-related company)
2)KOC윤리위원회에 회부(Been referred to the KOC's Ethics Commission)
3)검찰청과 반 무패 정부당국의 수사를 제안하는 쿠웨이트 정부장관에게 보낸 서한에 이름이 거론됨(Named in a letter to a state minister suggesting an investigation by prosecutors and anti-corruption authorities)
4)THE INQUISITOR에게 의혹혐의제기는 쿠웨이트 내 정치적 음모의 결과이고 의혹을 부인할 수 밖에 없었음 (Forced to deny the allegations, which he told THE INQUISITOR were the result of political intrigue in Kuwait)

지금까지 오랫동안 Husain Al-Musallam이 OCA(Olympic Council of Asia)임명 직 사무총장 자격으로 자금 횡령을 해 오고 있다는 심각한 징후와 조짐이 있어 왔다(There have long been serious indications that Al-Musallam has been embezzling funds from the Olympic Council of Asia)고 합니다
아주 최근이지만 Husain Al-Musallam은 상당 금액을 OCA계좌에서 자신의 가족에게 이체한 정황이 있어 왔다(More recently, however, there have been indications that Al-Musallam has also made princely payments to his family from OCA accounts)고 합니다.
이에 대한 첫 문건들이 이제 떠오르고 있으며 제출될 수 있는(The first documents on this have now emerged and can be presented) 상황이라고 합니다.
이 문건은 그냥 시계와 휴가와 같은 사치품과 같은 것은 아니지만(not just expensive luxury goods like watches and holidays), Husain Al-Musallam이 명백히 소유한 아파트로써 이 아파트는 다시 OCA에 고가로 임대를 놓았다(apartments, apparently owned by the Al-Musallam family, that were rented out to OCA at high prices)는 것이라고 합니다
명백히 2023년에는 2024년과 2025년 분 임대지불금을 합산하여 사전에 이미 OCA계좌에서 인출되었다(Apparently, in 2023, payments for the years 2024 and 2025 had already been made from the OCA accounts … "in advance, for the years 2024 + 2025)는 것이라고 합니다.
그밖에 수 많은 문건들이 가까운 장래에 논의 될 것(Numerous other documents will be discussed in the near future)이라고 합니다.
자 이제 과거까지 핵심 최측근 관계였던 Al-Musallam시스템과 Sheikh Ahmad 시스템에 대하여 살펴 보겠습니다:
2017년 7월 The Times(영국)지 및 Der Spiegel(독일)지에 따르면 husain Al-Musallam은 OCA계좌에서 인출된 금액의 뇌물을 FIFA 음모와 모략을 위해서 사용한 것(Al-Musallam was paying bribes from the OCA's accounts for machinations in FIFA)으로 의심되고 있다고 합니다.
괌 출신 FIFA집행위원이었던 Richard Lai는 FIFA임원선거와 아시아축구총연맹(AFC: Asian Football Confederation)선거에서 Sheikh Ahmad와 Al-Musallam을 위해 표를 던졌으며 관련 정보들 수집하였고 상당 보상금을 지불 받았다(provided votes and collected information for Sheikh Ahmad and Al-Musallam in FIFA elections and the elections of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and he was paid handsomely for this)고 합니다.
2012년 1월에 Richard Lai는 Husain Al-Musallam에게 이메일을 보냈는데 “dear captain”(Husain이 OCA에 취직하기 전 쿠웨이트 항공 조종사로 재직한 것에 대한 호칭으로 보임)이라고 호칭하면서 이틀 전 통화내용을 언급하면서 US$25만 불(약 3. 25억원)을 홍콩에 있는 HSBS은행으로 송금해 달라고 요청하였다(referring to a phone call two days earlier and requesting the transfer of $250,000 to HSBC Bank in Hong Kong)고 합니다.
Richard Lai는 구체적으로 명시하지 않고 25만 불은 조사활동을 위해 사용될 것(A quarter of a million was to be used for "investigations", which Lai did not specify)이라는 내용이라고 합니다.
Al-Musallam은 OCA수석재무관인 Nayaf Sraj에게 이미 Lai의 은행계좌를 제공한 바 있다(had already provided Lai's account details to OCA CFO Nayaf Sraj)고 합니다.
미국 측 기소내용에 따르면, 그 돈은 홍콩소재 HSBC은행계좌번호198-362675-833에 두 번 나뉘어 1월17일과 2월14일 각각 12.5만불씩 입금되었다(According to the US indictment, the money was received into HSBC account 198-362675-833 in Hong Kong in two tranches of $125,000 each - on 17 January and 14 February)고 합니다.
이렇게 입금된 금액은 수년간의 기간에 걸쳐 지속되었는데 Lai는 그 돈을 자신을 위해서만 사용하였으며 자신의 모국인 괌 스포츠 활성화를 위해 결코 사용되지 않았다(These payments were made over a period of several years. Lai has admitted that he used the money only for himself and never to promote the sport in his native Guam)고 인정하였다고 합니다.
법정 문건에 따르면 Lai와 쿠웨이트 측 파트너들은 입금 이유를 굳이 숨기려 하지 않았다고 명시되어 있다(The court document also states that he and his Kuwaiti partners didn't even bother to try to hide the reasons for the payments)고 합니다.
Husain Al-Musallam에게 단순히 이메일로 요청만 하면 충분했으며 돈은 송금 입금 되었다(A simple email request to Husain Al-Musallam was enough - and the money was transferred)고 합니다.
하지만 Al-Musallam은 이메일발송자체를 가지고 자신의 보스인 Sheikh Ahmad에게 보여줄 거리를 만들고 싶어 한 것(however, made a point of sending emails so that he would have something to show his boss, Sheikh Ahmad)이라고 합니다.
이것이 바로 미 법무부 시스템이 그러한 행위를 묘사하고 있다(This is how the US justice system describes it)고 합니다.
Lai가 자신의 심문 과정 동안 주장한 바 에 따르면 Al Musallam은 심지어 돈으로 가득 찬 서류가방을 어떤 회의에 가져온 것으로 언급되었다(Al-Musallam is even said to have brought a suitcase full of money to one meeting, Lai claimed during his interrogation)고 합니다.
Al-Musallam은 이것에 대하여 세부인 질문에 대하여 그 당시 대답하지 않았다고(did not answer detailed questions about this at the time) 합니다

우리가 지난 주 쿠웨이트 발 새로운 의혹 혐의에 대해 Al-Musallam과 맞닥뜨려 이야기 할 때 그는 줄줄이 다음과 같이 말하면서 설명하였다(When we confronted Al-Musallam with the new allegations from Kuwait last week, he explained what he had been saying all along)고 합니다:

The allegations are baseless… I am delighted that my name has been cleared. I urge all those involved in sport in Kuwait to work together for the betterment of our athletes instead of wasting time on baseless, politically motivated allegations.)

당시 ANOC 회장 자격으로 Sheikh Ahmad는 IOCㅎ솔리다리티 프로그램의 일환으로 매년 배분된 US$ 1억불(약 1,300억원)이상의 기금에 책임을 맡아 왔다(responsible for more than $100 million distributed annually as part of the IOC's Olympic Solidarity Programme)고 합니다.
그는 OCA회장직에 30년 이상 재임하였는데 OCA를 창설한 부친의 뒤를 이었습니다(He served as President of the OCA for more than 30 years, succeeding his father who founded the organization)
1985년 OCA에 입사한 Husain Al-Musallam는 1998년 이래로 나중에 ANOC에서도 활동하게 되는데 그는 Sheikh Ahmad의 선도적인 내부 서클 조직의 일원(Since 1998, and later also at ANOC, he has been part of Al Sabah's inner leading circle)이었습니다

속임수와 규정 개정을 통하여 Sheikh Ahmad의 최측근인 Husain Al-Musallam의 차기 FINA회장선출을 위한 바탕으로 동원하고 준비하는 작업에 이용하기 위함이었는데 언제나 장기간 IOC위원Sam Ramsamy의 도움이 함께 하였다(Tricks and rule changes were used to prepare the ground for Al-Musallam's presidency - always with the help of long-time IOC member and current IOC honorary member Sam Ramsamy <South Africa>)고 합니다.
Ramsamy는 오랫동안 세계수영연맹 부회장 직을 끝 없이 이어 갔으며 Thomas Bach 현 IOC위원장의 최측근 신임 핵심세력의 일원(Ramsamy has long been Vice President of World Aquatics for an eternity and is one of IOC President Thomas Bach's closest confidants)이라고 합니다.
2021년 Sheikh Ahmad가 스위스 법정에서 징역형을 언도 받았을 당시 공모자 No. 3로 지목 받은 Husain Al-Musallam은 드디어 FINA회장으로 등극하였다(In 2021, just before Sheikh Ahmad was sentenced to prison in Switzerland, Husain Al-Musallam, co-conspirator number 3, became president of World Aquatics)고 합니다.

만연한 부패에 대하여 그렇게 많은 증거와 의혹에 둘러싸인 그 인물인 Husain Al-Musallam은 그 이래로 자신을 개혁의 선봉으로 자신을 홍보하였다(The man against whom there was so much evidence and allegations of widespread corruption has since sold himself as a reformer ever since(고 합니다.
Husain Al-Musallam은 FINA(World Aquatics)회장을 재직하면서 수영청렴조직(AQIU)을 결성하였으며 그는 Sheikh Ahmad뿐만 아니라 Sheikh Ahmad의 OCA내부의 이전 핵심 팀 동료들과 함께 낙오자가 되었다(He set up the Aquatics Integrity Unit (AQIU) and he fell out not only with Sheikh Ahmad, but also with many allies of the Sheikh's former core team in the OCA )고 합니다.

1)미국 국가대표선수들이 North Carolina로의 이동(Olympic shift away from Colorado Spring to North Carolina)움직임으로 자칭 “미국의 올림픽 市”(Olympic City USA)로 자체 마케팅에 피치를 가해 왔던 미국 Colorado주 Colorado Springs의 노력이 이제 옛 이야기가 될 판 임. 2월14일 Colorado Springs의 KRD013(ABC TV지부/affiliate)보도에 따르면 헤드라인 스토리로 “올림픽 시 정체성 위기”(Olympic City Identity Crisis)란 제하에 미국국가대표팀들이 Colorado Springs를 떠나 North Carolina로 이동한다고 보도함. Colorado Springs 미국국가대표선수촌 훈련센터(the Springs-based Olympic and Paralympic Training Center)는 이제 올림픽유망주 일부를 수용하여 유지하게 됨으로 미국국가대표선수들이 떠난 “유령도시”(ghost town)로 전락하게 될 처지라고 함
2)전임 국제 바이애슬론 연맹(IBU)회장인 노르웨이 출신 Anders Besseberg(77세)는 부패 관련 재판(corruption trial_을 치러 왔음. 3년 6개월 징역형(3 1/2 years in prison)과 NOK1백만 크로네 벌금(a fine of NOK 1,000,000)및 과도한 선물 반환(return of excessive gifts)이 노르웨이 검찰이 요구함으로 일단락 되었다고 함. 당사자인 Besseberg는 선물 수수 몇 건으로 자신이 부패한 것을 의미하지 않는다(taking a few gifts does not mean he was corrupted)고 언급하였다 함.

2월15일자 외신에 따르면 FIFA가 2026년 월드컵축구대회를 캐내다-멕시코-미국 공동개최에 따른 조직운영에 FIFA가 직접 관여하기 위해 구체적인 해당사항을 인수인계 하는 움직임이 시행되었다(Moves have already been made to take over specific aspects)고 합니다.
IOC도 미래올림픽조직운영에 자체적으로 직접 관여하는 방향으로 될 지도 모른다(The IOC may be moving toward organizing future Olympic Games itself)는 이야기가 나오고 있다고 합니다.
IOC가 미래 올림픽대회 조직 및 운영을 자체적으로 실행해야 한다고 생각하고 있음이 분명하다(The IOC must be thinking it should organize future Olympic Games itself)는 이야기 입니다.
엄청난 수의 선수들, 이벤트, 종목 및 사용되는 시설물로 인해(significantly due to the sheer number of athletes, events, sports and facilities being used)올림픽개최는 어려운 작업입니다.
Paris 2024 제33회 올림픽에는 204개국 올림픽위원회로부터 10,500명의 선수들과 32개 스포츠 종목의 329개 세부종목경기가 Paris부터 Tahiti에서 넓게 퍼져 개최됩니다.
올림픽은 2028년 LA에서는 그 규모가 더 커져서 36개 종목에 11,000명이상의 사상 최다의 선수들이 참가하게 될 것으로 예상되고 있습니다.
그리고 아무것도 쉬운 것이 없나 봅니다(And nothing is easy.)
Tokyo2020올림픽이 코로나19로 인해 1년 연기되면서 발생한 골치거리이후 올림픽의 평판은 스폰서십자격획득에 연관된 내부 뇌물수수죄로 검찰의 형사소추까지 이어진 두 건의 주요 스캔들과 테스트이벤트 운영 및 대회기간 중 경기장 운영에 따른 입찰 비리 등으로 올림픽대회자체에 타격을 입힌 바(the reputation of the Games took a hit from two major scandals that have led to criminal prosecutions in Japan for insider bribes to acquire sponsorships and the rigging of bids for test-event management and then for venue management during the Games) 있습니다.
이어서 중국공산당의 강압적 통제하(under the heavy hand of the Chinese Communist Party)에서 거행된 Beijing2022 동계올림픽은 대회기간 중 2~3차례 기자회견 중 대회 개최에 대한 적나라한 실상과 의문을 제기하여 주었으며(asserted itself during a couple of news conferences during the Games) 금연 열리는 Paris2024 올림픽에 대한 대중적인 반응으로 손에 땀을 짜게 하는(public hand-wringing about Paris)상황과 과연 대회조직위원회가 대회 예산의 수지균형을 맞출 수 있을 지 여부(whether the organizing committee will be able to meet its budget (which it apparently will))와 7월 대회 기간 중 Paris시내 곳곳에 일반시민들의 접근성(public access around the city come July) 등에 대한 해결방안등이 산적해 있다고 합니다.
게다가 Milan-Cortina 2026동계올림픽대회 봅슬레이(bobsled)-루지(luge)-스케레톤(skeleton) 종목을 수용할 장소를 놓고 목하 벌이고 있는 IOC와 이태리 정치인들간의 줄다리기 쟁점(the IOC’s ongoing tug-of-war with Italian politicians over where to hold the bobsled, luge and skeleton events for the 2026 Winter Games in Milan Cortina )도 한 몫을 다하고 있다고 합니다.
IOC는 해당종목 기존시설을 사용할 것을 요구하고 있고 이태리는 이미 몇 년 간의 지체 기간이 지난 후 새로운 트랙을 건설하자는 방안을 채택하자고 우기면서 과연 2026년 대회에 맞춰 제대로 경기장이 갖춰질지 의문(the IOC asking to use an existing facility and Italy opting to build a new track after years of delay, which may or may not be ready in time for the 2026 Games)인 상황이라고 합니다.
그것뿐만이 아닙니다. Brisbane2032올림픽 및 패럴림픽 개최지인 호주 Brisbane에서 정부주도로 계획된 유명한 Brisbane 크리켓 구장인 The Gabba 재개발사업의 건축비용이 확 늘어나 호주달러 27억불(약 US$17,5억불/약 2,27조원)에 이르자(the government-planned redevelopment of the famed Brisbane Cricket Ground – The Gabba – should be undertaken at an expanded cost of A$2.7 billion (about $1.75 billion U.S.) 호주 내에서 센세이션을 일으키고 있는 대 소동(brouhaha)이 이슈화되고 있다고 합니다.
하지만 IOC가 평가과정에서 신축경기장대신 기존시설활용을 제안한 바 있으므로(as the IOC suggested in its evaluation of the Brisbane bid, with existing facilities to be used instead) 이에 대한 결론은 신축 반대가 될 것으로 보입니다(That answer appears now to be “no,”)
하지만 지금 500명이 넘은 직원을 보우하고 있는 IOC가 대회 조직에 직접 관여하는 것이 더 용이할 것인가? (Wouldn’t it just be easier for the IOC, now with more than 500 staff members, to just do the Games themselves?)
IOC는 2026년 FIFA월드컵 축구대회를 모델로 삼아 IOC가 작업할 수 있다고 기회를 엿보는 것 같다는 반응이 나오고 있다고 합니다.
FIFA는 지난 90년 이상 FIFA남자 월드컵축구대회조직을 개최국 조직위원회에 위임하여 온 후, FIFA는 기존의 대회조직운영 에 대한 생각을 지워 버렸으며(FIFA has scrapped the idea) 대신 대회를 FIFA가 확대 개편(기존 32개국에서 48개국 참가)된 2026년 캐나다-멕시코-미국 공동 개회 FIFA월드컵축구대회를 자체적으로 직접 관장하며 조직 및 운영한다(staging the expanded 2026 World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States itself)고 합니다.
그러한 방식의 일환으로 FIFA임직원들이 본부가 있는 스위스 취리히로부터 플로리다 주 Coral Gables로 사무실을 이동 중에 있으며 현지 필요 간부부급직원 채용 프로그램을 정력적으로 추진 중(energetic hiring program is underway for directors and managers to put together the biggest World Cup event)이고 이는 3개국에 걸쳐 배치된 18개 축구경기스타디움에 사상 최대인 48개국 팀들이 104개 축구시합(with 48 teams and 104 matches spread across 16 stadia in three countries) 을 관장하기 위한 포석이라고 합니다.
따라서 대규모직원군단(a huge staff)이 꾸려지게 될 것이지만 대회이벤트를 위해 특별히 구성된 임시조직위원회가 아니라(not that of a temporary organizing committee formed specially to put the event on)고 합니다.
FIFA가 모든 책임 통솔 권한과 모든 두통거리도 떠 안게 되는 것이며 모든 자금 또한 관리하게(all the responsibility, all the headaches … and will keep all the money) 되는 구조라는 이야기인 것 같습니다.
그리고 주지하다시피 FIFA로 흘러 들어오는 돈을 막대한 수준인데 이는 단일종목관할 국제연맹을 최대 규모이며 2023~2026 4년간 예산 중 예상 수입금이 US$110억불(약 14,3조원)규모로 IOC를 능가할 지도 모른다(a lot of money coming into FIFA, which may surpass the IOC as the biggest single earner in international sports for its 2023-26 quadrennial, with a budget projection of $11 billion in revenue)고 합니다.
이러한 규모의 수입금은 올림픽과 비교할 때 어떤 의미로 해석될 까요?
사실상 IOC는 이미 그러한 방향으로 들어서고(already on that path) 있으며 올림픽개최국 내 조직위원회에 부여된 원래 기능들을 천천히 야금야금 가져오고 있는 중(slowly taking over functions from the in-country organizers, piece by piece)이라고 볼 수 있습니다.
그러한 사례를 다음과 같이 열거해 보겠습니다.
1)올림픽 방송/방영 권한은 스페인에 지부를 둔 올림픽방송서비스를 통해 조직위원회로부터 장악(Broadcasting, through its Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) subsidiary in Spain)
2)올림픽 도핑 통제 기능은 2018년에 신설된 국제검사기구를 통해 기능 장악(Doping control, through the International Testing Agency, which it helped to create in 2018)
3)올림픽 경기결과 도출 기능은 해당기술전문업체인 IOC TOP파트너기업인 프랑스의 Atos를 통해 장악(Results, provided through its agreement with French technology giant Atos)
4)경기종목 등록 기능은 IOC 내 스포츠 국이 직접 장악 및 행사(Sports registration, now handled by the IOC’s sports department in-house.)
5)올림픽 입장권과 호스피탈리티 기능은 Paris 2024조직위원회와 조정하되 IOC관리 감독 하에 미국에 근거지를 둔 OnLocation업체를 통해 장악(Tickets, now being overseen by the IOC in coordination with Paris 2024, as well as hospitality, under a recent agreement with U.S.-based OnLocation)
IOC는 세계 TV방영권 판매를 관장 및 통제한 바 있으며 LA1984올림픽의 재정적 성공사례를 바탕으로 재빨리 세계적 마케팅스폰서프로그램인 TOP프로그램을 창출하였지만 올림픽 조직운영에 관하여서는 직접 관장하는데 있어서 즉각적으로 다음 단계 조치를 취하지는 않아 (but did not immediately take further steps to begin organizing the event themselves)왔습니다.
그 당시 IOC임직원 규모가 조직을 감당하기에 너무 적었으며 대회개최경험의 깊이 또한 너무 일천(The staff was too small, the depth of experience far too shallow) 하였습니다.
하지만 이제 올림픽대회 조직을 넘겨 받기 위한 차원에서 IOC의 임직원 규모가 크게 증가하였으며 전문직 직원들도 풍부한 상황으로 성장하였다(the IOC has grown and has a deep professional staff that could take over)고 불 수 있습니다.
FIFA는 무료 테스트 개념으로 제공하고(FIFA is providing a free-to-view test of the concept) 있습니다
IOC는 TV방영권 및 스폰서십 판매로 생성된 자체 자금의 상당 부분을 매 대회 조직위원회에 할당하여 제공하고(The IOC also gives away a lot of its money from television and sponsorships to local organizing committees) 있습니다.
통계자료에 따르면, IOC는 지금껏 제공해 왔으며 앞으로도 다음과 같이 현금 및 현물 형태로 제공할 것(According to its own figures, it provided, and will provide cash and in-kind support (U.S. dollars))으로 알려져 있습니다.

동계올림픽조직위원회에는 비교적으로 적은 규모의 지원금이 제공되는데 평창2018동계올림픽조직위원회에는 US$8억 8,700만불(약1.07조원), Brijing2022동계올림픽조직위원회에는 US$9억7천만불 그리고 Milan-Cortina 2026동계올림픽조직위원회에는 US$9억2,500만불이 배정되었다고 합니다.
Contina2026 썰매경기장과 Brisbane2032의 주 경기장 격인 The Gabba 크리켓구장에 연관된 상서롭지 못한 경험을 통하여 IOC는 변혁의 랜드마크 격인 Thomas Bach IOC위원장 하에서 올림픽 어젠더 2020와 올림픽 어젠더 2020+5 개혁을 통하여 가능하다면 올림픽 선수촌은 한 군데 운집하는 것을 선호함에도 불구하고(although it still prefers to have an all-in-one Olympic Village if possible) 올림픽 경기장의 경우 “무 건설”(no-build)철학을 자체적으로 천명하고 다짐해 온 바(committed itself through his Olympic Agenda 2020 and Olympic Agenda 2020+5 to a “no-build” philosophy as regards the sports venues) 있습니다.
이러한 요구사항을 고수함으로(By sticking to this requirement), 동하계올림픽개최를 할 수 있는 곳들의 수가 상당히 축소되고(the number of locations which can host an Olympic Games or Winter Games shrinks considerably)있지만 반면 이벤트는 관리 운영하기가 더 수월해 지고 있다(the event becomes easier to manage)고 볼 수 있습니다.
IOC가 --FIFA가 하고 있는 것처럼-- 자체적으로 올림픽을 기획하고 개최함으로 올림픽개최지 특성을 숙지할 필요가 있는 기능과 역할 수행을 감당하기 위하여 개최지전문가들을 채용할 수 있으며 나머지 작업은 IOC가 자체적으로 소화함으로 매 대회를 통하여 대회개최경험을 축적할 수 있을 것(By planning and staging the Games itself, the IOC could hire local talent – as FIFA is doing – to manage the functions which need local knowledge and do the rest itself, building up the experience of its managers from event to event)으로 판단됩니다.
처리해야 할 것은 많지만 대회 개최에 따른 비용은 훨씬 더 저렴해 지고 더욱 통제하기 쉬워질 것이며(It’s a lot to chew, but it’s cheaper, much more controllable) 2026년 동계올림픽개최국인 이태리 정치인들 처리에 골머리를 않을 필요도 없어질 것으로(no Italian politicians to deal with) 개최 도시나 개최국을 위하여 엄격하게 비즈니스적인 제안으로 진보하게 될 것(a strictly business proposition for a host city or country)으로 사료됩니다.
IOC는 관심국가들과 지역 및 도시들과 가능성범주를 논의하고 있으며, 최상의, 최대로 친근하고 가장 의존성이 높은 선택지를 결정하게 되고 그때는 IOC가 원하는 제반 서비스 계약을 실행하고 선택된 개최지에 의한 공약에 대하여 협약을 하게 되어(determines the best, friendliest and most dependable option and then contracts for the services it wants and the promises made by the selected host) IOC의 운신의 폭이 넓어질 수 있는 계기가 될 것으로 보입니다.
이러한 관점은 개인적 판단이 아니라 철저히 비즈니스를 겨냥한 것이 될 것입니다. (Not personal. Strictly business.)
이러한 생각은 LA1984올림픽종료이래로 어떠한 형태로든 거의 40년 가까이 논의 대상으로 여겨져 왔다(This idea has been in discussion, in some form, for nearly 40 years, since the end of the 1984 Los Angeles Games)고 불 수 있겠습니다.
하지만 현 시점이 더 더욱 실감이 날 것으로 보입니다. 문제는 Bach IOC위원장의 후임자가 이러한 계획을 기꺼이 그리고 도약을 시도할 능력이 있는지 여부에 달려 있을 것(But it seems much more real now, with the question of whether Bach’s successor is willing and able to make the leap)으로 사료됩니다.
그리 된다면 그것은 상당한 도약이겠지만 만일 IOC가 올림픽의 충분한 가치를 실현하고자 한다면, FIFA가 지금 하고 있는 것처럼 그리고 NFL이 매년 개최하고 있는 수퍼 볼에서 눈부시게 보여 왔던 것처럼(as FIFA is doing now and as the National Football League has so brilliantly demonstrated with its annual Super Bowl) IOC가 올림픽이란 프로젝트에 대한 더 확실한 통제권을 차지해야(will have to obtain fuller control of its enterprise) 할 것입니다
그리고 보다 효과적으로 실행하기 위하여, 그러한 운영계획(a management scheme)에는 미래 올림픽을 강력한 법제도 시스템이 작동되고 있는 국가들에 배정함으로 IOC로 하여금 개최국 중앙정부, 지역 및 개최 관할 지방정부와의 협약을 실행할 수 있게(require placing future Games in countries with strong contract law systems to allow the IOC to enforce its agreements with national, regional and local governments)허용되어야 합니다.
만일 Bach IOC위원장이 지난 인도 Mumbai개최 IOC총회에서 몇몇 IOC위원들이 제안한 대로 추기로 임기를 4년 연장하여 2029년까지 위원장 직을 유치하기로 결정할 경우, 그는 이러한 방향으로의 움직임을 시작할 수 있을 것입니다.
하지만 IOC는 오는 7월 IOC총회에서 French Alps2030-Salt lake City 2034 동계올림픽 개최지를 승인하게 되면 향후 개최도시 협약서의 계약을 체결한 년도인 2032년(하계) 및 2034년(동계)까지는 종래 개최국내 조직운영 방식으로 유치하여야 할 것(contractually committed to in-country organizing of the Olympic Games)으로 전망됩니다.
따라서 IOC의 완전한 올림픽개최권취득에 대한 결정은 차기 IOC위원장이 누가 되든지 차기 IOC위원장때 결정될 것임(a decision on a full takeover will come from the next IOC President, whoever that will be)을 의미합니다.
만일 FIFA가 2026년 및 그후 월드컵축구대회를 FIFA자체조직운영프로그램에 성공할 경우(If FIFA succeeds with its do-it-yourself program for the 2026 World Cup and beyond), 스위스 Lausanne의 IOC 두뇌집단(고문단/brain trust)이 2036년올림픽이 어디서 개최되든지 간에 그때부터 어떻게 작업에 착수 할는지 지켜볼(look for the brain trust in Lausanne to begin thinking about how this could work for a 2036 Olympic Games, wherever it might be held) 필요가 있겠습니다.
[Paris2024올림픽 5개월 남은 시점에서 핵심우려사항(key concerns with six months)은 무엇일까?]
Paris2024올림픽 개최를 5개월 남짓 남긴 시점에서 정치적 논쟁(Political bickering) 올림픽 입장 가격에 대한 끈질긴 투덜거림(persistent grumbling about ticket prices) 및 일상생활에 영향을 주는 혼란(disruption to daily life)초래 등이 올림픽무드에 악영향을 초래하고 있다(souring the mood ahead of Paris 2024)고 외신이 전하고 있습니다.

Paris 2024조직위원회 관계자들은 에펠 탑 앞에서 열릴 비치발리볼과 Seine강에서의 수영 또는 파리의 전설적인 거리들을 통과하는 마라톤 경기(the marathon through the capital's legendary streets)같은 볼거리(sigjts)는 7월26일 올림픽 성화가 점화될 때 사람들의 마음을 사로잡게 될 것임(will lift spirits)을 확신하고 있다고 합니다.

조직운영 실행에 대한 불안감은 올림픽개최국이라면 누구든지 가지고 있으며 그 이유는 전세계에 최고의 조직 능력을 보여주기 위해 준비하기 때문이라고(Performance anxiety is also natural for any Olympic host, as it prepares to show the best of itself to the rest of the world)생각되는 대목이기도 합니다.
여론조사결과 프랑스사람들은 안전문제에 대하여 가장 신경을 곤두세우고 있는데 특히 Seine강가에서 개최하기로 계획된 장엄한 올림픽개회식(most nervous about a security problem, particularly at the spectacular opening ceremony planned on the banks of the Seine)에 대하여 그런 경향이 있다고 합니다.
1)Emmanuel Macron 프랑스대통령은 7월26일 Paris2024올림픽 개회식 주변정리차원에서 추진해 왔던 Seine 강가를 따라 형성되어 있는 명성이 있는 간이 책방을 다른 곳으로 이동하지 않기로(the famed booksellers boxes along the Seine River will not be moved for the Olympic opening on 26 July) 결정하였다고 함. 따라서 이에 대한 보완 조치로 안전요원들을 그 주변에 배치하여 안전에 문제가 생기지 않도록 단도리 할 것(The security folks will have to work around them)으로 알려짐
2)Paris2024대회의 새로운 걱정거리는 Seine강을 조망할 수 있는 주택의 발코니에 많은 사람들이 운집하고 있는 것(overcrowding on balconies that overlook the Seine)인데 2023년에는 2명이 발코니가 부러져 추락하여 부상을 입은 바(two people were hurt in a balcony break last year) 있다고 함
3)2027년 예정된 불어사용권국가들 대상 대회가 320만명의 인구 중 갸우 만명에 이르는 불어사용자들이 거주하고 있는 Armenia로 개최권이 넘어 갔다고(The 2027 Jeux de la Francophonie was awarded to Armenia, which has just 10,000 French speakers among 3.2 million people) 함. 하지만 대회개최국이 필요할 때 누구라도 대회개최를 희망한다면 환영하는 것(when you need a host, anyone who wants to do it is welcome)이 인지상정이라고 볼 수 있음
4)Paris2024올림픽 대회 배드민턴 및 리듬체조 경기장으로 사용될 다목적 경기장(a multi-purpose arena to be used for badminton and rhythmic gymnastics at the Olympic Games)인 Arena Porte de la Chapelle이 11일(일) 일반대중에게 개방되었다 함. 이 경기장은 Paris2024올림픽에서 사용될 경기장 중 Paris시 자체에 유일한 신축 스포츠 시설(the only new sports facility built for the Games inside Paris itself)이며 대회 후 Paris 농구클럽홈구장(the home of the Paris basketball club)이 될 것이라고 함
5)미국 10대 스케이트 스타로(American teen skating star) 알려진 Ilia Malinin선수가 2월11일(일)열린 ISU 스케이팅 시상식에서 2023년도 시즌을 빛낸(honoring the 2023 season) MVP(Most Valuable Player)로 선정되었다고 함. 8개 부문에 걸쳐 시상이 이루어졌는데(Eight awards were distributed in all) 캐나다 스타선수 출신이며 현재 코치를 맡고 있는 Brian Order(김연아 선수 코치로도 활약한 바 있음)가 생애 성취 상(Lifetime Achievement award)을 수상하는 영예를 받았음.
6)국제빙상연맹(ISU)는 Beijing2022동계올림픽에서 러시아 Valieva선수의 도핑 문제로 러시아가 획득한 여자피겨단체전 동메달을 그대로 유지시키고 캐나다는 그대로 4위로 놔두기로 ISU의 재 채점을 방어했다고(defended its re-scoring of the Beijing 2022 Team Event in figure skating, giving Russia the bronze and leaving Canada fourth)하는데 이 문제는 끝난 것이 아니어서 드라마는 점입가경이 될 것(But this isn’t over, and the drama will go on and on)이라는 전망임
7)Brisbane2032올림픽에서 모든 정치적 지지를 받아 호주 달러로 27억불짜리 예산으로 재개발 예정이던 Brisbane 크리켓 구장인 The Gabba경기장 계획이 갑작스럽게 물거품이 되어 사라졌다(has vaporized)고 함. 이에 따라 동 프로젝트는 진행 중인 검토가 끝나는 3월에 대규모로 축소될(the project is expected to be severely downsized once an ongoing review is completed in March)전망이라고 함
8)Montreal 1976올림픽의 상징으로 알려진 스타디움(Montreal’s Stade Olympique)이 캐나다 달러로 8억7천만불짜리 지붕 재정비(set for a C$870 million roof renovation)에 들어 간다고 하는데 그 이유는 스타디움 시설 철거 비용이 캐나다 달러로 20억불이 들기 때문(because it would cost C$2 billion to tear it down)이라고 함
9)Paris2024올림픽 메달이 2월8일(목)공개되었는데 스포츠 및 예술 장식 디자인은 저명한 Maison Chaumet에 의해 완성되었으며 오래된 에펠 탑을 수리하면서 생긴 잔여 철제조각들로(with a fragment of old Eiffel Tower iron – from prior renovations)만들어졌으며 올림픽 및 패럴림픽 메달 겉면에는 에펠 탑 잔여철제조각이 부착되어(attached to the face of each Olympic and Paralympic medal)있다고 함. 프랑스조폐국에서 총 5,084개의 메달이 주조될 것(. A total of 5,084 will be made by the French Mint)이라고 함
