Calgary2026 동계올림픽 및 패럴림픽 유치운명이 캘러리 시의회가 10월31일 행한 투표결과 극적으로 살아 남게 되었다(dramatically kept alive by the City's Council)고 보도 되었습니다.
시의원들(Councilors)은 캘러리 시 올림픽 및 패럴림픽 동계올림픽 평가위원회(Assessment Committee)가 10월30일 합의로 표결에 붙였던 유치종결제안 안을 8-7로 승인하는 투표결과(voted 8-7 in favour of approving a recommendation to terminate the bid)가 나왔습니다.

협상내용을 보면 지역경제를 위하여 일자리 창출과 지역번영 및 성장을 주도할 US$34억불(CAD$44억불/약4.08조원)규모의 경제효과(for the local economy creating jobs, prosperity and growth)를 의미하고 있는 것으로 알려지고 있습니다
거기에는 동계올림픽 및 패럴림픽이 US$7.62억불/CAD$10억불/약 9,144억원)규모의 캘러리시민들이 혜택 받게 될 임금과 15,400개의 일자리를 만들게 될 것(in wages for Calgarians and 15,400 jobs)으로 주장되고 있다고 합니다
캘거리 시는 US$2.97억불(CAD$3.9억불/약3,564억원)상당규모의 투자를 할 필요가 있으며 대신 투자대비 US$ 1불 당 8배에 해당되는 US$8 불(CAD$10불/약9,600원)을 돌려 받게 될 것이라고 합니다.
10월31일 뉴스는 2026년 유치경쟁이 전멸의 위험 속을 헤매던(with the 2026 race in danger of complete collapse) IOC에게는 사기진작(a boost)이 될 것으로 보입니다
