[핸드볼 사상최초 남북한단일팀 2019년세계남자핸드볼선수권대회 출전 2032년 올림픽남북한 공동유치에 신호탄 홍보효과]

 

 

IOC글로벌뉴스 소식지인 Olympic Highlights에 따르면 국제핸드볼연맹(IHF: International Handball Federation)이 최근 대한민국(the Republic of Korea)과 조선민주주의인민공화국(the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea)이 오는 2019년 1월 독일과 덴마크에서 열리는 제26회 IHF세계남자핸드볼선수권대회에 단일팀 (as a unified team)출전 초청을 수락하였다고 발표하였습니다.

 

남북한 남자 핸드볼단일팀은 2019년1월10일 2019년 세계선수권대회 공동개최국(독일-덴마크) 독일 Berlin에서 첫 시합(opening match)을 갖게 될 것이라고 합니다.

 

IHF의 이러한 이니셔티브에 대해 IOC 및 Thomas Bach IOC위원장은 전폭지원을 표명하였다고 합니다.

 

국제스포츠 계의 2032년올림픽 남북한 공동유치를 향한 Roadmap의 신선하고 전폭적 지지의 출발점으로 보여집니다.

 

이러한 움직임이 가속화될 것이 예측되는 한편, 아울러 한국은 향후 각 종목별 세계선수권대회 및 국제회의 등 글로벌 이목 집중과 스포츠외교활성화 노력을 위한 Roadmap을 세워 전진하기를 기대해 봅니다.

 

이러한 일련의 노력과 홍보를 통해 2032년 올림픽 및 패럴림픽 남북한 공동개최를 공고히 함을 물론 하향세를 보이고 있는 한국스포츠의 중흥과 스포츠외교 강화의 전환점이 되었으면 좋겠습니다.  

 

 

 

 

 

IHF홈페이지에는 남북한 단일팀의 2019년 IHF세계남자핸드볼선수권대회 출전 초청 수락에 대하여 위와 동일한 맥락의 내용을 다음과 같이 소식을 알렸습니다  

 

 

“Following the recent positive development in the relationship between the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the International Handball Federation approached both nations with an invitation to participate in the 26th IHF Men’s World Championship next January in Germany and Denmark as a unified team.

 

The IHF are pleased to announce that both Republic of Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea accepted the invitation.

 

The unified team of Korea will play the opening match against World Championship co-hosts Germany on January 10, 2019 in Berlin.

 

The IHF initiative was with the full support of the International Olympic Committee and IOC President Dr Thomas Bach, and demonstrates the unique power of sport in spreading peace and uniting people across the world.

 

These concepts form the core of the Olympic values, which were the catalyst for the founding of the pinnacle global sporting event, the Olympic Games, and the governing body, the IOC.

 

Though the Olympic Games occur every four years, the IOC and the Olympic Movement work on a daily basis to promote peace through sport. ”

 

 

 

 

The founder of the IOC, Pierre de Coubertin, “believed sport could help bring communities together, stop war and promote healthy competition free from cheating and discrimination. Ultimately, Coubertin wanted to show how sport can make the world a better place by encouraging friendship, togetherness and fair play.” (IOC창시자인 Coubertin남작의 스포츠를 통한 전쟁종식, 속임수와 차별을 배제한 건전한 경기증진을 기하며 세계공동체가 한자리에 함께 하도록 도움을 줄 수 있으며 쿠베르탱은 스포츠가 우정과 함께함과 페어플레이를 권장함으로 더 살기 좋은 세상을 만들 수 있기를 원하였음)

 

This initiative and the ready cooperation from the Republic of Korea and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea uphold the principles of the Olympic Movement, and the IHF are proud that handball will continue to be a global leader in promoting peace and unity through sport with this step.

 

To facilitate the integration of players from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea into the Republic of Korea team, the IHF have decided to increase the number of players in the unified team at GER/DEN 2019. (이러한 건전하고 바람직한 뜻에 부응하기 위하여 IHF는 독일/덴마크2019 세계선수권대회 남북한 단일 팀 선수 수를 늘이도록 흔쾌히 결정하였음)
