[IOC, Paris2024올림픽 개최도시상징건축물 Notre Dame화재복구 및 재건 비용 50만 유로(약 6억7천만원) 기부금 스토리]

IOC는 Paris2024올림픽에 맞춰 파리의 상징건축물 중 하나인 Notre Dame성당(cathedral)재건 복구비용조로 50만 유로(US$562,000불/약 6억7천만원)을 기부(donate) 할 것으로 4월18일자 한 외신이 보도하였습니다.

Thomas Bach IOC위원장은 Paris2024 올림픽 조직위원장인 Tony Estanguet에게 서한을 통하여 약정하였다고 합니다

다음은 Bach IOC위원장의 서한내용입니다:

A.  "The aim of finishing this reconstruction in time for Paris 2024 will be an additional motivation for us all." (Paris2024대회시기에 맞춰 Notre-Dame성당 재건축이 완공되어야 하는 취지는 우리모두를 위한 추가적인 동기부여가 될 것임)

B.  "This will send a strong message about the way in which the Olympic Games are always synonymous with [people] gathering together and aim to put sport at the service of humanity.(이러한 동기부여는 올림픽이 항상 사람들이 함께 한 자리에 모이도록 한다는 취지를 방불케 하는 계기가 되고 이러한 동기부여를 통해 스포츠를 인류를 섬기기 위한 자리에 가져다 놓기 위한 통로가 된다는 방식에 관하여 강력한 메시지를 보내게 될 것임)

C.  "This is why the IOC wants to take part in the reconstruction and restoration efforts. (이것이야말로 IOC가 재건축 및 복구노력에 동참하고자 하는 그 취지임)

D.  "The IOC will therefore make a donation of €500,000 for the reconstruction of Notre-Dame."

최근 4월15일 발생한 화재로 중세기 건축물을 집어 삼키는(a fire engulfed the medieval edifice) 바람에 전 세계의 공감적 위로의 분위기를 촉발하는(prompting an outpouring of sympathy worldwide) 계기가 되었습니다

850년 된 고딕양식 건물의 첨탑과 지붕이 붕괴(850-year-old Gothic building's spire and roof collapsed) 되었지만 관계자들은 2대의 종탑을 포함한 건물의 주요구조는 보존되었다고 발언하였다고 합니다

화재의 원인(the cause of fire)은 아직 불분명하지만 원인규명을 위한 조사착수에 들어 갔다고 합니다

Emmanuel Macron프랑스 대통령은 복고노력의 일환으로(with the restoration effort) 도합US$9억 5,500만불/약 1.14조원)기부금이 쇄도하는 도움의 손길이 답지하고 있는 가운데 Notre-Dame성당재건을 약속하였다고 합니다.

동 기부금출처는 주로 거부들과 기타 기관들로부터 답지한 기부금으로 이루어져있다(mainly comprises donations from billionaires and other organisations)고 합니다

Paris 2024조직위원회 측은 파리시가지의 가장 잘 알려진 장소들(city’s most recognizable sites)을 올림픽 및 패럴림픽 대회 및 올림픽 브랜드 가치를 살리기 위한 곳에 자리매김할 것(placed at the service of the Games and the Olympic brand")이라고 계속 약속해 왔다고 합니다

이어지는 Bach IOC위원장의 서한내용입니다:

E.  "It is with great sadness that we have seen the pictures of the destruction caused by the tragic fire at Notre-Dame cathedral." (우리는 Notre-Dame성당의 비극적 화재로 인해 파괴된 참상을 보여주는 그림들을 보면서 매우 애통해 하는 바임)

F.  "Having visited Notre-Dame many times myself, the photos of this very famous historical monument in flames at the very heart of the Olympic city of Paris personally upset me.(내 자신도 Notre-Dame성당을 수 차례 방문해 보았음에, 올림픽도시인 Paris중심부에 있는 이렇게 유명한 역사적 유적이 화염에 휩싸인 사진들을 보고 마음이 상했음)

G.  "The whole Olympic Movement and especially the IOC have been very touched by the link that the French immediately made between the reconstruction of Notre-Dame and the 2024 Olympic Games.(전 세계올림픽운동 가족들과 특히 IOC는 프랑스인들이 Notre-Dame성당 재건과 Paris2024올림픽대회 간에 즉각적으로 연결고리 공감대를 형성하는 것을 보고 감동 받았음)

I.    "By giving this helping hand, I hope that Notre-Dame will once again be able to inspire all of us when the whole world gathers together for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games." (이렇게 돕는 손길로써, 나는 Notre-Dame 성당이 Paris2024올림픽을 계기로 전 세계가 함께 한 자리에 모였을 때 다시금 우리모두에게 영감을 주게 되길 희망하는 바임)
