2017년 12월 말 현재 지구 상 세계인구는 약 76억 명이라고 합니다.

 

2005년 12월1일 자로 국제금융시장을 주도하는 대표적 증권회사(Wall Street 최대 투자은행)인 골드만 삭스(Golman Schs)가 발표한 국제경제연구보고서내용이 경이롭습니다.

 

한국이 앞으로 7년 후인 2025년이 되면 개인당 국민소득(Income Per Capita)가 미국, 일본에 이어 세계3위로 US$6만 불에 육박한다고 발표한 바 있었습니다.

 

물론 이러한 이야기는 북한의 인적 노동력과 풍부한 광물자원이 한국의 첨단기술력과 자본이 결합되어 시너지 효과를 창출한다면 향후 30~40년 내 프랑스, 독일, 일본을 앞질러 세계경제대국이 된다라는 전망으로 알려졌습니다.

 

Goldman Sachs는 2007년, 2009년 “한국이 통일되면 2050년엔 국민 소득 8만 7000달러로 미국에 이어 세계 2위가 될 것”이라고 전망한 사실이 재조명되고 있다고 합니다.

 

 

 

한반도 통일방식도 동서독방식이 아닌 중국-홍콩 통일방식으로 추진될 경우 통일비용이 효율적 수준에서 감당 가능하다고 제언했다고 합니다

 

 

 

 

영국의 지질학자에 따르면 “북한의 원유 매장량이 40억~ 50억 배럴이라고 추정했고 중국의 해양석유 총 공사 역시 2005년 북한 황해도 서한만 분지에 약 600억 배럴의 원유가 매장됐다”고 발표했다.는 보도가 있었습니다.

또한 광물자원공사의 자료에 따르면 “북한의 금 매장량은 세계 7위, 철광석은 10위, 아연 5위, 흑연 4위, 스마트 폰과 수소전지, 전기 차에 들어가서 4차 산업혁명의 중요한 자원으로 알려진 희토류 매장량 6위로 알려져 있다고 합니다.

 

광물소비가 세계 5위권인데도 92%를 전량 수입하는 우리 남한 사정을 볼 때 광물수입이 북한으로 대체되면 45조원 이상의 효과가 있을 것이라고 분석했다는 보도도 있었습니다.

아래 글은 Thomas Bach IOC위원장이 최근 개최된 바 있는 ‘국제 정치

제네바 포럼’(the Geneva Forum Suisse de Politique

Internationale)에서 “Sport, politics and the political neutralityof

the IOC”란 주제에서 “IOC의 정치적 중립 성과 한반도”(IOC’s

political neutrality and the Korean Peninsula)란 구체적 발제중심으

로 행한 연설문 전체내용 정리요약 분입니다.

 

 

Bach IOC위원장장은 평창2018 개회식 직전 숨가뻤던 남북한 개회식

공동행진 성사와 관련한 상황에 대하여서도 허심탄회하게 이야기 하였

습니다.

 

 

“The delicate political discussions came up again 24 hours

before the Opening Ceremony. (미묘한 정치적 논의는 대회 개회식

열리기 24시간 전에 또 다시 속개되었음)

 

 

Additional conditions were raised by the DPRK with regards to

the joint march and flag. (공동행진 및 깃발관련추가적 조건들이 북

한측에 의해 제기된 바 있었음)

 

 

On the evening before the Opening Ceremony, the DPRK

indicated in a meeting with us that they may not participate in t

he Games at all. (대회 개회식 전날 저녁, 북한측은 자기들의 대회불참

가능성을 암시하기에 이르렀음)

 

 

This is why I had to resume the talks again, starting in the

morning of the day of the Opening Ceremony on 9 February

These talks ultimately led to the positive result, just four hours

When then the athletes from the NOCs of the Republic of Korea

and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea entered the

Olympic stadium as one team, behind the one flag, it sent a

1)The overarching mission of the IOC is to put sport at the

Nations. I hope one day we will get there.” (평창에서 Antonio

not respected, then the Olympic Games become divisive

37)If this political neutrality is not respected, then it is

impossible for us to bring together all the athletes of the 206

National Olympic Committees in peaceful competition, as we

61)When I met with the President of the Republic of Korea,

agreed that the participation of the athletes from the DPRK in

PyeongChang would be the priority for the IOC, while

President Moon and his government would support the IOC

initiative on the political side whenever needed and

Thomas Bach IOC위원장은 3월20일 일본 요미우리(Yomiuri) 신문과의 인터뷰를 통해 북한의 평창2018 참가와 관련한 배경에 대하여 언급하였다고 합니다.

 

 

 

 

Thomas Bach IOC위원장은 북한의 평창2018 참가독려 성공의 비결(the secret of their success in encouraging North Korean participation)은 정치적 중립성(political neutrality)에 기인한다고 주장하고 있는 것으로 알려졌습니다.

 

 

Bach IOC위원장은 올림픽대회가 폭넓은 정치적 전개과정 전반을 무시할 수 있다고 믿는 것은 순진하고 비현실적인 발상("naïve" and "unrealistic" to believe the Olympic Games can ignore wider political developments)이라고 주장하고 있지만, 그들이 엄격 중립성을 유지하면서 할 수는 있을 것이라고 힘주어 말하고 있는 것(claims they can do this while remaining strictly neutral)으로 알려졌습니다.

올림픽대회가 작년 Donald Trump 미국대통령 취임이래 몇 달간 지속된 바 있는 북한과 미국 간의 험악한 상호 언급교환 후(after months of hostile exchanges) 미사여구에 실질적인 변화를 촉발하여 온 것(prompted a substantial change in rhetoric)이라고 합니다.

 

 

Trump미대통령은 이제 늦어도(at the latest)금년 5월까지 김정은 북한 최고지도자(supreme leader)와의 만남을 위한 북한측 초청을 응낙하였다고 합니다.

 

이어지는 Bach IOC위원장의 요미우리 신문과의 인터뷰 발언 내용입니다:

남측 고위관계자(a senior official)는 미국 워싱턴 D.C.에서 김정은 최고지도자가 핵과 미사일 시험발사 중지에 동의 하였었으며 비핵화를 약속하였다(agreed to halt nuclear and missile tests and was "committed to denuclearization")고 주장하였다고 합니다.

 

 

하지만 많은 사람들은 아직 긴장완화가 일시적인 것 그 이상은 아닐 것으로 반신반의하고 있다(still unconvinced that the cooling of tensions will be anything more than a momentary thing)고 합니다

Bach IOC위원장은 2013년 IOC위원장 취임이래로(since taking up his office) 그의 전임위원장들(his predecessors)보다 훨씬 더 목소리를 높여(in a far more vocal way) IOC가 어떻게 정치와 분리되어 양립되어서는 안 되는지에 대해 지속적으로 이야기 해 왔다(consistently spoken about how the IOC should not stand separately from politics)고 합니다.  

 

 

그는 모든 각국 올림픽위원회의 올림픽대회참가가 필수적으로 중요한(vital) 것이라고 언급하기도 하였다고 합니다.

 

 

하지만 쿠웨이트의 경우 영향력 있는 IOC위원이자 ANOC회장인 Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah와 연결된 스포츠 계 인사들과 정치권인사들 사이에 불화가 있는 후 정부간섭으로 인해 자격정지 상태(remains barred for Government-interference after a feud between political and sporting officials)입니다.

2. 연설문 요약본(평창2018 관련 언급---à 후반부)

 

 

1) On the protection of clean athletes, President Bach outlined the investigations into the failures of the anti-doping system in Russia, in particular with regard to the Olympic Winter Games Sochi 2014.

 

 

“This is about the manipulation of samples from the Olympic Winter Games and of the WADA-accredited laboratory; and if these manipulations are proved true then this is a direct attack on the integrity of the Olympic Games and the IOC.”

 

2) The IOC President noted that the Oswald Commission, which is dealing with the individual responsibility of athletes - which was not the mandate of Professor McLaren - has published the first two decisions, disqualifying two Russian athletes from the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi and at same time declaring them ineligible for future Games. President Bach said the hearings were ongoing and will “come up with more decisions in the coming days”.

 

3) The second Commission, the Schmid Commission, chaired by the former President of Switzerland, is addressing the systematic manipulation of the anti-doping system particularly in regard to Sochi. “I am confident we can take all decisions regarding Russian athletes in December.”

4) President Bach also reiterated that the Olympic Movement considers it unacceptable that specific sanctions are already being demanded in the public domain before due process, to which every individual and organisation is entitled, has been followed.

 

“In the Olympic Movement, everybody enjoys the same rights and the same obligations, and everyone deserves the right to a fair procedure.”

 

5) The President also described the strengthening of the Pre-Games Testing Programme for next year’s Winter Games with a “special focus on Russian athletes”. The first 20 in each discipline and event will be considered, along with every athlete where there has been a sudden improvement in performance. He thanked the Winter Sports Federations for their plan to publish their schedules on a monthly basis, including numbers and the nationalities tested.

 

6) The progress with the Independent Testing Authority was also highlighted, and the IOC President asked all those present to join the ITA, “so that we can avoid even the perception of a conflict of interests, and we can harmonise better and make the fight against doping even stronger and more effective”.

 

7) President Bach went on to talk about the challenges facing the IOC with regard to good governance. No organisation is immune from these, he said. “Following the reforms of Olympic Agenda 2020, we are in a good position to address all these matters swiftly, even if they are from the past. Based on this new governance model we can move forward with confidence.” 

“What affects one of us affects all of us.”

 

8) The President moved on to the reform of the Olympic Games candidature process; and here he quoted the Mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, who said recently that:

“We were told all these myths about what this process what supposed to be. I was told this was going to be a very inflexible IOC and what we experienced was a tremendous flexibility as shown today. 9) Turning to the future, the President told the audience that “the stage is set for the best athletes of the world to celebrate the Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang. We cannot ignore the political tension on the peninsula.” 

 

“But in all the talks with leaders the Olympic Games were never put in doubt. The Games have to be beyond any politicisation. All have to be equal and all welcome. The Games are a stage for dialogue to build bridges.”

“This world is more fragile than ever, and we can see in many parts of the world crises, tensions, and financial and commercial instability.”

[평창2018 OWG 폐회사 POCOG위원장 한글 및 영문 메시지 "Parting is such sweet sorrow"]

 

지난 2월18일 평창2018 동계올림픽 폐회사를 반추해 봅니다.

 

이야기하고 싶은 사연이 많은 폐회사였습니다.

 

평창2018조직위원회에서 수 년간 근무하면서 대회준비 중하반주부터는 위원장관련 모든 영어스피치전담 섬김을 하게 되었습니다. 물론 각종 조직위원회 위원장 명의로 각종 책자에 수록 및 발간되는 인사말, 축사, 메시지 등에 대한 감수업무도 함께 섬기게 되었습니다.

 

그러다 보니 대회 개 폐회식 한글 원본 작업에도 참여하였고 이어 영어 번역도 도맡게 되었습니다.

 

정식 폐회사 전에 제가 작성했던 한-영 초안(Draft) 일부 핵심내용도 아울러 소개해 드립니다:

 

[2주 전 바로 이 시간, 이 자리에서 만남의 기쁨을 나눈 것이 엊그제 같습니다. 이제 작별인사를 나누기 위해 다시 모였습니다. (Just two weeks ago, we have gathered here together to share the joy of coming-together right this time and right this place. Now we came here together again to say goodbye. )

 

 

 

 

회자정리(會者定離), 즉 만남에는 헤어짐이 있습니다. 세익스피어는 로미오와 줄리엣에서 “Parting is such sweet sorrow”라고 했습니다.

 

 

비록 작별은 아쉽지만 우리는‘2018 평창’을 아름다운 추억으로 간직할 것입니다. (“We never meet without parting” (會者定離) It means parting is always coming along with the meeting.

 

William Shakespeare once said, at Romeo and Juliet, “Parting is such sweet sorrow.”

Even though we are now saying goodbye to each other, ‘PyeongChang2018 will be long cherished as beautiful memories in our hearts.)

 

 

올림픽신기록을 수립한 선수들은 물론, 올림픽 신기록을 수립하는 것 이상의 가치가 차고도 넘치도록 선수 여러분이 보여준 불굴의 투지에 경의를 표하며 개회식에서 추운 날씨임에도 맨몸으로 입장하는 한 선수를 함께 지켜 보기도 하였습니다.

그야말로 “여러분은 챔피언입니다” 그리고 우리에게 한계란 오직 하늘 뿐이다”가 절로 나오는 시점입니다(Your strenuous efforts overcoming frustrations deserved more than just setting a new Olympic record, and we saw a man entering in a naked body despite such cold weather at the Opening Ceremonies, not to mention a number of new Olympic record holders. “You are the Champion.” “Only the sky is the limit.”)  

 

 

 

 

올림픽대회는 온 세상을 평화와 화합 속에서 함께 모이게 해 줍니다--- 평창에서 전 세계가 하나가 되었습니다---인종, 종교, 국가와 성별을 뛰어 넘어 우리는 함께 웃고 함께 울며 우정을 돈독히 하여 준 바 있습니다

(The Olympic Games brings together the world in peace and harmony, and in PyeongChang, the world became one. Transcending the differences of race, religion, nation and gender, we smiled together, cried together, and shared friendship together.)

 

 

특히, 남북한선수들이 보여준 각별한 우정이야 말로 평창대회에 특별한 의미를 부여하였습니다---사상 네 번째로 남북한 선수단은 올림픽개회식에서 하나가 되어 한반도 기를 들고 함께 입장하였습니다---올림픽사상 초유의 남북한 단일팀구성이 여자아이스하키팀으로 탄생하여 투지를 불사르며 시합에 임하였습니다.

경기결과를 떠나 쿠베르탱 남작이 강조한 “올림픽에서는 이기는 것 보다 참가하는데 그 의의가 있다”라는 말을 실천해준 귀한 실증 사례였습니다--관중석에 모인 응원단은 “우리는 하나” 라고 외치기도 하였습니다.

(In particular, the friendship shown by the athletes from South and North Koreas gave a special meaning to the Games. For the fourth time, they marched together under the single Korean Peninsula Flag at the Opening Ceremonies. A unified Korean Women’s Ice Hockey team was formed and competed for the first time in history. Regardless of their performance results, this showcased what Baron Pierre de Coubertin emphasized, “The Olympic Games are more about taking part rather than just winning.” The cheerleaders in the stands of the stadiums shouted together, “We are one.”)

The hope and aspirations of South and North Korean athletes together with cheerleaders will continue to lead to Beijing2022 beyond PyeongChang. And it will definitely serve as a milestone for the unification of the Korean Peninsula in the future.)

 

 

이제 17일 간 평창을 환하게 밝혔던 올림픽성화가 수 많은 잊지 못할 사연들을 뒤로하고 그 임무를 마칠 시간이 다가오고 있습니다 (Time is near for the Olympic Flame to end its role, following 17 day-long burning bright with so many unforgettable stories left behind.)

 

 

 

하지만, 우리의 가슴 가슴속에 올림픽성화와 함께 힘차게 타오르기 시작한 사랑과 희망의 불꽃은 4년 뒤 베이징의 성화대 위에서 다시 한번 세계를 환하게 비출 것입니다 (However, the fire of love and hope in our heart already flaring up into the Olympic Flame will again shine the world right on the cauldron of Beijing 2022.)

 

 

짧은 시간이었지만 여러분이 대한민국에 보여주신 따뜻한 마음과 뜨거운 사랑은 오랫동안 간직될 것입니다---그래서 대한민국은 행복했습니다.---그리고 우리는 여러분께 감사하다고 하는 것입니다.---우리는 여러분을 잊지 않을 것입니다 (Short period of the Games, as it may seem, gave a long lasting warm-hearted love to Korea. Therefore, Korea was so happy. And we thank you all. We will never forget you.)

Ladies and Gentlemen,

 

Just two weeks ago, we gathered here together to share the joy of coming-together right this time and right this place. Now we came here together again to say goodbye.

 

 

“We never meet without parting” It means parting is always coming along with the meeting.

 

William Shakespeare once said, at Romeo and Juliet, “Parting is such sweet sorrow.” Even though we are now saying goodbye to each other, PyeongChang2018 will be long remembered with beautiful and unforgettable memories.

 

Dear NOC Delegations,

 

Beyond struggling competitions, you have realized the Olympic dream culminated by Olympic Values of “Excellence, Friendship and Respect”. “You are the Champion.”

 

Together we saw and witnessed so many touching human dramas and stories to leave us a valuable legacy of great Olympic spirit;

 

Athletes having set new Olympic Records,

Athletes having achieved human victory over “Falling down seven times but Getting up eight”,

Athletes having won medals despite injury needed 62 stitches at hospital,

Athletes having created a surprising success story of having advanced to medals out of unknown wilderness of that sport,

 

Athletes having participated for the first time from Africa,

 

Athletes having taken part in the Games from tropical zone with no winter season,

 

Athletes having set new records despite falling down in the course of the competition,

 

Athletes having participated as Unified Korean Team,

 

“All of you are truly Winners.”

 

Right after crossing the finish line, that athlete started shedding teardrops, and spectators having packed the stadium gave her a standing ovation, shouting in unison “Don’t cry!”

 

At that moment, the first winner and the second winner warmly embraced and encouraged each other with hands on their shoulders. The media highly praised those two athletes by calling them “Amazing Heroines” who became one in an Olympic spirit.

 

Dear Citizens of Host City and Venue Cities of PyeongChang, Gangneung and Jeongseon as well as the people of Gangwon Province who have dedicated to and sacrificed for the Winter Olympics,

 

Dear entire staff and members of the PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games Organizing Committee,

우리는 지금 제23회 평창 동계올림픽을 시작하는 역사적인 순간을 맞이하고 있습니다. 

 

1988년 서울올림픽 이후 30년만에 대한민국에서 열리는 동계올림픽은 92개 국가올림픽위원회(NOC)에서 6,500여 명의 선수와 임원들이 참가하는 지구촌 최대의 겨울 축제입니다.

 

 

대한민국은 1948년, 아직 정부가 수립되지 못한 혼란속에서 생모리츠 동계올림픽에 참가했습니다. 한국전쟁이 한창이던 1952년에는 국민들이 모은 성금으로 핀란드 헬싱키에서
열린 하계올림픽에 선수단을 보냈습니다.

 

 

평창올림픽은 두 번의 좌절과 눈물을 딛고 이루어 낸 결실이었습니다. 평창올림픽은 문화올림픽, ICT 올림픽, 그리고 무엇보다도 평화올림픽이 될 것입니다.

And my warm welcome to PyeongChang2018 Olympic Winter Games!

 

Now we are facing the historic moments in our lifetime opening together the 23^rd Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang 2018.

 

Olympic Winter Games taking place on the Korean soil in 30 years following the Seoul 1988 Olympics are the biggest global winter festival participated by over 6,500 athletes and officials from 92 National Olympic Committees.

 

In 1948, Korean Athletes took part in the Winter Games held in St. Moritz for the first time in the middle of the utterly disorganized situation with the Korean Government not yet formally established.

 

In 1952 even when the Korean War was still underway, Korean Athletes had also been dispatched to the Olympic Games in Helsinki thanks to travel expenses collected by many Korean citizens in a very difficult situation.

 

PyeongChang Winter Games came to its fruition overcoming frustration and teardrops from two consecutive bid failures. PyeongChang Games will prove to be a Culture Olympics, ICT Olympics, and above all a Peace Olympics.

 

 

 

Distinguished Guests at home and abroad, and dear NOC Delegations,

 

 

Just a moment ago, the entire world watched and witnessed another historic joint marching of the South and North Korean Athletes under the Korean Peninsula Flag. It means two Koreas became one unified Korea through the Olympic Games.

 

 

 

Sport has a great power to unite people and bring together the world in harmony and peace transcending disputes and conflicts. PyongChang Games, I am confident, will provide a light of hope for all global citizens yearning for peace on this Planet.

 

 

In order for the PyeongChang Games to serve as a truly Global Festival of Peace and Harmony, we would like to light the fire of PyeongChang Olympic Flame.

 

Dear Athletes and Delegations,

 

 

 

As Baron de Pierre Coubertin, a renovator of modern Olympic Games, once mentioned, “The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle”, it is my ardent wish that you keep that in mind.

 

 

All of you stand on this Olympic stage, which means a global confirmation that you are already Winners and Heroes.

Welcome to the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018!

This is the moment that we have all been waiting for: the first Olympic Games on snow and ice in the Republic of Korea.

This is the moment that the Organising Committee, the public authorities and so many Korean people have been working for with great dedication and commitment. You all can be very proud tonight.

 

Now is the time for PyeongChang!

Dear athletes, now, it’s your turn!

 

This will be the competition of your life.

Over the next days, the world will be looking to you for inspiration.

You will inspire us all to live together in peace and harmony despite all differences we have.

 

You will inspire us by competing for the highest honour in the Olympic spirit of excellence, respect and fair play.

You can only really enjoy your Olympic performance if you respect the rules, and stay clean.

 

Only then will your lifelong memories be the memories of a true and worthy Olympian.

While you compete with each other, you live peacefully together in the Olympic Village, respecting the same rules, sharing your meals and your emotions with your fellow athletes.

 

This is how you show that in sport we are all equal.

This is how you show the unique power of sport to unite people.

A great example of this unifying power is the joint march here tonight of the two teams from the National Olympic Committees of the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. We thank you.

 

 

 

 

All the athletes around me, all the spectators here in the stadium, and all Olympic fans watching around the world… we are all touched by this wonderful gesture.

We all join and support you in your message of peace.

United in our diversity, we are stronger than all the forces that want to divide us.

Two years ago in Rio de Janeiro, with the first ever Refugee Olympic Team, the IOC sent a powerful message of hope to the world.

 

Now in PyeongChang, the athletes from the teams of the ROK and DPRK, by marching together, send a powerful message of peace to the world.

 

Let us share this Olympic experience with the world.

Let’s go together, PyeongChang!

Frank Sinatra가 불러 전 세계의 애창곡들 중 하나가 된 불어노래(Comme d'habitude) 번안 곡인 “My way” 첫 가사가 실감나는 아침입니다.

 

 

1982년 대한체육회에 입사한 뒤, 1985년 조직위원회(SLOOC)집행위원장 겸 체육부장관 국제담당보좌관(Special Assistant to Executive President)로 파견근무로 서울1988올림픽 조직위원회에 몸을 담았고, 이어 30년 후에 열린 평창2018 동계올림픽 및 패럴림픽 조직위원회(POCOG)에서는 위원장 보좌역(Special Advisor to President)으로 대한민국 개최 동 하계올림픽대회 섬김을 모두 끝냈습니다.

 

 

 

 

 

이제는 고향 앞으로?

 

 

보람되기도 하지만 마음 한 구석이 먹먹하고 어딘지 허전합니다.

 

 

1999년 강원동계아시안게임 조직위원회 역시 위원장 보좌역으로 봉사

하다가 맞이한 평창동계올림픽유치 3 차례(2000~2011) 그리고 이어진 평창2018 조직위원회 근무로 근 20년 간의 평창시대를 이제 접게 되나 봅니다.

 

 

평창2010유치위원회(대외공동사무총장), 평창2014유치위원회(국제사무총장), 평창2018유치위원회(국제자문역)을 거쳐 평창2018조직위원회(비상근 국제자문역<2011~2014>--조직위원회 위원<2011~2015>-상근 기획상임위원--위원장 보좌역<2015~2018>)근무가 "평창동계올림픽 --Specific"한  근 20년 간 섬겨왔던 저의 간략한 "평창이력서 Roadmap"입니다.

 

 

 

다사다난했던 평창2018 유치 및 성공적 개최까지 수 많은 사연이 있었고 불철주야 노심초사 근무로 녹초가 되기까지(Exhausted/Burnt-out/Been burning the candle at both ends) 봉사했던 동료 조직위원회 임직원들이 하나, 둘 보따리를 싸고 있습니다.

 

어제(3월19일)는 제게는 감동을 선사한 ‘깜짝 감사패 전달식’이 있었습니다.

 

 

이 감사패는 제게 받았던 국내외 어떤 상훈보다 값진 최고의 훈장으로 느껴집니다.

 

 

감사패에 새겨진 문구가 너무 감사하고 황송하기까지 합니다.

 

 

부족한 저에게 이런 마음을 전달해 준 평창2018 조직위원회(POCOG) 기획총무국 동료들을 비롯한 조직위원회 모든 동지들에게 진심으로 이렇게 감사의 답장을 쓰고 싶습니다.

[POCOG위원장 패럴림픽 Thank you Breakfast Speech (3월18일)]

 

 

지난 3월18일(일) 평창2018 동계 페럴림픽 최종일 폐회식날 아침 IPC위원장 Andrew Parsons 주최 POCOG대상 '감사조찬'(Thank-you Breatfast)가 있었습니다.

함께 참석한 최문순강원도지사는 이희범 POCOG위원장과 함께 IPC최고영에인 IPC공로메달(IPC Highest Honor Medal)을 수여 받고 유머스런 멘트를 날려 좌중을 즐겁게 해 주었습니다.

 

최지사는 대회기간 중 Andrew Parsons IPC위원장에게 수여한 명예강원도민증을 상기하면서 강원도의 상징인  '명예감자' (Honorary Potato)라고 호칭하면서 다시 '위원장 감자'(President Potato)라고 정겨움을 표현하기도 하였습니다.

 

 

이에 앞서 먼저 IPC최고공로메달을 수여 받은 이희범 POCOG위원장의 감사조찬 연설문을 소개해 드립니다.

 

 

 

"Good morning, IPC President Andrew Parsons, CEO Xavier Gonzalez, and distinguished IPC Governing Board members,

 

First of all, let me express my whole-hearted thanks to IPC President Andrew for his outstanding and dynamic leadership and chairmanship.

 

Second of all, I would also like to profoundly appreciate CEO Xavier Gonzalez for his strenuous support while spending his time with us along the 7-year long, long journey only for the success of the PyeongChang Paralympic Games.

 

Third of all, it is with warm-hearted pleasure to give my special thanks to IPC Administration including Mr. Thanos Kostopoulos, IPC Executive Director of the Paralympic Games for their helpful and useful and friendly advice for such a long time.

 

Thanks to your support and guidance, PyeongChang2018 was able to accomplish its 7-year long mission.

 

We have seen so many great winter Para athletes inspiring and impressing the world with their excellent performances, new Paralympic and world records set, personal bests, moments of exemplary Para-sportsmanship and great emotions at venues as well as Paralympic Village.

 

“As role models, Para athletes maximized their abilities, by combining mental toughness, physical ability and outstanding agility to produce sporting performances, thus empowering and exciting others to participate in sport.”

 

We have seen and witnessed together the incredible transformation of ‘once a small mountain village and towns now turned into a shining global hub of winter sport’ with newly modified infrastructure jointly thanks to the Olympic and Paralympic Movement. This is a tremendous legacy of the Games.

 

Together we created a Paralympic miracle.

Together we achieved a Peace Paralympics.

Together we showcased the marvelous Games.

Together we inspired and impressed the world.

Together we will continue to move forward with the unifying power of sport in a Paralympic spirit of “Agitos” and 4 Paralympic Values of “Courage, Determination, Inspiration and Equality”
