[IOC필두로 Paris2024올림픽개최도시상징건축물Notre Dame성당화재복구 및 재건기부금 US$9억5500만불(약 1.146조원)답지 스토리]
IOC는 Paris2024올림픽에 맞춰 파리의 상징건축물 중 하나인 Notre Dame성당(cathedral)재건 복구비용조로 50만 유로(US$562,000불/약 6억7천만원)을 기부(donate) 할 것으로 2019년 4월18일자 한 외신이 보도하였다.
Thomas Bach IOC위원장은 Paris2024 올림픽 조직위원장인 Tony Estanguet에게 서한을 통하여 약정하였다.
다음은 Bach IOC위원장의 서한내용이다:
A. "The aim of finishing this reconstruction in time for Paris 2024 will be an additional motivation for us all." (Paris2024대회시기에 맞춰 Notre-Dame성당 재건축이 완공되어야 하는 취지는 우리모두를 위한 추가적인 동기부여가 될 것임)
B. "This will send a strong message about the way in which the Olympic Games are always synonymous with [people] gathering together and aim to put sport at the service of humanity.(이러한 동기부여는 올림픽이 항상 사람들이 함께 한 자리에 모이도록 한다는 취지를 방불케 하는 계기가 되고 이러한 동기부여를 통해 스포츠를 인류를 섬기기 위한 자리에 가져다 놓기 위한 통로가 된다는 방식에 관하여 강력한 메시지를 보내게 될 것임)
C. "This is why the IOC wants to take part in the reconstruction and restoration efforts. (이것이야말로 IOC가 재건축 및 복구노력에 동참하고자 하는 그 취지임)
D. "The IOC will therefore make a donation of €500,000 for the reconstruction of Notre-Dame." (IOC는 따라서 Notre-Dame성당 재건 비용으로 50만 유로<약 6.5억원>를 기증할 것임)
그 당시 2019년 4월15일(월) 화재로 말미암아 Notre-Dame성당 중세기 건물을 집어 삼켰으며(engulfed the medieval edifice) 전 세계로부터 동정심을 자아냈다(prompting an outpouring of sympathy worldwide).
850년 된 고딕양식의 건축물의 뾰족탑(spire)과 지붕(roof)부분이 붕괴되었지만 관계자들에 따르면 두 개의 종탑을 포함한 건물의 핵심구조물(main structure)은 화재로부터 안전하게 지켜냈다고 언급하였다.
화재의 원인(the cause of fire)은 아직 불분명하지만 조사가 착수되었던 것으로 알려졌다.

Emmanuel Macron프랑스 대통령은 성당복구노력 지원의 일환으로 답지한 기부금 총액 US$9억5,500만 불(약 1.146조원)이 답지한 가운데 Notre-Dame성당을 재건하겠다고 다짐하였다고 한다
기부금 핵심은 주로 억만장자들(billionaires) 및 다른 기관들(other organizations)로부터 이루어졌다
Paris 2024측은 파리도시의 상장적인 지역들(the city's most recognisable sites)이 올림픽 및 올림픽브랜드화의 주 대상지역으로 꾸며지도록 약속한 바 있다.
다음은 Bach IOC위원장의 위로 서한내용이다:
A. "It is with great sadness that we have seen the pictures of the destruction caused by the tragic fire at Notre-Dame cathedral," (Notre-Dame성당이 애통하게도 화재에 휩싸여 무너져 내리는 광경을 목도하는 마음이 비통함)
B. "Having visited Notre-Dame many times myself, the photos of this very famous historical monument in flames at the very heart of the Olympic city of Paris personally upset me.(Notre-Dame성당에 개인적으로 여러 차례 방문하고 나서 파리올림픽 중심부에서 화염에 쌓인 이 유명한 역사적 기념물 사진을 접하고 참담했음)
C. "The whole Olympic Movement and especially the IOC have been very touched by the link that the French immediately made between the reconstruction of Notre-Dame and the 2024 Olympic Games. (전체 올림픽운동 조직 특히 IOC는 Noter-Dame성당재건과 Paris2024올림픽 간의 연계하고자 프랑스 사람들이 즉각적으로 달려드는 그 마음에 감동 받았음)
D. "We want to show the support of the Olympic Movement for the restoration of this iconic monument, which is in the heart of all the French people.(우리는 모든 프랑스인들의 마음을 사로잡고 있는 이 상징적이고 대표적인 기념건축물의 복구를 위하여 올림픽운동의 성원을 보여주기를 소망함)
E. "By giving this helping hand, I hope that Notre-Dame will once again be able to inspire all of us when the whole world gathers together for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games." (이러한 도움의 손길을 통하여, 희망하건대 전 세계 사람들이 Paris2024올림픽을 보러 모두 함께 모일 때 Notre-Dame성당의 위용으로 다시 한번 우리 모두를 고무시켜주고 고취시켜 줄 수 있게 되길 바라는 바임)
