조윤선 한국 문화 체육관광부 장관이 직권남용혐의로 체포된 후(after being arrested on charge of abuse of authority) 장관직을 사임하였다고 외신은 보도한 바 있습니다.

 

조장관의 사임은 평창2018 G-1년을 불과 얼마를 (2월9일) 앞두고 벌어졌습니다

 

외신은 조장관의 장관 직 퇴임은 평창2018대회 준비에 영향을 끼칠 수 있음을 시사하면서 한국 내 정치적 불안정한 가운데(against the backdrop of political instability) 대회개막을 향한 카운트 다운이 계속되고 있다고 보도하였습니다.

"Our team for PyeongChang 2018 remain focused on Games preparation, building the facilities to a standard the athletes will welcome, organizing a series of test events that will help us fine-tune our preparations, and activating promotional activities as we meet the various milestones leading up to the Games. (평창2018 팀은 대회개최까지 각종 다양한 이정표에 걸 맞는 대비를 해 가면서 대회준비, 선수 맞이에 적합한 기준에 의거한 제반 시설 건설, 대회준비 미세조정에 도움이 될 연석적 테스트이벤트 개최를 비롯하여 대회홍보활동을 활성화시키는데 초점을 두고 일사불란하게 주력하고 있음)

한편 IOC는 최근 소요사태(the latest turmoil)가 영향을 끼치지는 않을 것이라고 (조직준비에 대한)신뢰를 표명하였다(expressed their belief)고 합니다.

조윤선 전 장관은 박근혜대통령 정부에게 치명적인 예술인 블랙리스트작성과 관련된 조사와 연관된 혐의를 받고 있다(charged in connection with an investigation into the blacklisting of artists critical of the Government of President Park Geun-hye)고 보도하였습니다

조윤선 전장관은 지난 1월21일 한국 역사상 최초로 체포되는 현직장관(the first incumbent Minister to be arrested in the country's history)이 되었으며 곧바로 사임을 표명하였다(resigning shortly afterwards)고 보도하였습니다.

 

주장된 바에 의하면 조 전임장관이 정치적 근거에 의거하여 정부 예술 교부금 수혜대상에서 배제될 예술가들 및 문화 계 인사들 리스트(a list of artists and cultural figures to be excluded from Government arts subsidies on political grounds)를 창출하였다라는 것이라고 합니다.

 

김기춘 박대통령 전직 비서실장 역시 같은 혐의로 체포되었는데 그 배경에는 유진룡 전직 문체부장관이 김기춘 전 실장에 대해 비난의 족쇄를 걸었던 것(pinning the blame on Kim)에 기인하는 것으로 보도하였습니다.

송수근 문체부 장관대행은 스캔들에 관하여 대국민 사과 메시지를 전달하였다(delivered a public apology)고 보도하였습니다.

"We feel terrible and shameful that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism caused any problems in the fairness of the Government's support of the culture-arts scene over the list of artists excluded from public support."

최순실과의 연결 혐의로 연루되어 온 IOC TOP선두 파트너이며 평창2018 주력 후원기업이기도 한 삼성에 대한 조사가 역시 진행 중이라고 보도하였습니다.

 

공식정부의 역할부여가 없음에도 불구하고 국가정책 입안에 부당한 영향력을 행사한 박대통령의 측근 자문인 최순실(61세)은 평창2018 경기장 입찰과정에도(the tender process for PyeongChang2018 venues)영향력을 끼쳤던 것으로 혐의를 받고 있는 상황이라고 보도하였습니다.

 

그녀는 지난 5월 조양호 전임 평창2018조직위원장이 이희범 현 조직위원장으로 교체된 과정에도 영향력을 행사했던 혐의로 고소된 상태라고 보도하였습니다. (She has also been accused of having influenced the process by which Cho Yang-ho was replaced by Lee Hee-beom as Pyeongchang 2018 President last May.)

 

이희범 조직위원장은 1월 초 현재 벌어지고 있는 정치적 스캔들이 평창2018 홍보 작업과 스폰서 수입에도 영향을 끼치고 있다고 인정하였다고 보도하였습니다. (Lee admitted earlier this month that the ongoing political scandal is affecting promotional work and sponsorship revenue for next year's Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.)

 

이희범 조직위원장은 대회가 어떠한 부패행위로부터 깨끗하다고 주장하면서 사후 실행가능 한 유산을 확고히 하기 위한 것뿐만 아니라 기금모금을 위하여 더 많은 노력이 필요하다고 주장하였다고 보도한 바 있습니다.
