2019년 7월24일은 Tokyo2020올림픽(7월24일~8월9일/17일 간)개막 1년을 앞둔 날(Tokyo2020 one-year-to go)이었습니다.

 

당연히 Thomas Bach IOC위원장이 참석한 가운데 각 가지 축하 행사가 있었습니다.

 

Bach IOC위원장은 전 세계 선수들에게 Tokyo2020올림픽에 공식참가 초청을 표명하면서 선수들은 일본이 역사를 만드는 것을 보게 될 것(will see Japan make history)이라고 하였습니다

 

 

G-365축하행사의 백미는 Thomas Bach IOC위원장이 주요 국가 NOCs에게 Tokyo2020올림픽참가 공식초청장을 전달하는 것으로 다음의 해당국 NOCs위원장들을 초대하여 행사식장인 Tokyo International Forum (올림픽 역도경기장)에서 공식초청장을 전달하였습니다.

축하행사장에는 Thomas Bach IOC위원장외에 Shinzō Abe일본총리, Coates Tokyo2020올림픽 IOC조정위원장, Tokyo도지사인 Yuriko Koike 및 Yoshirō Mori Tokyo2020조직위원장 등이 참석하였다고 합니다.

 

다음은 Yoshirō Mori Tokyo2020조직위원장의 연설문 발췌 분입니다:

 

A.  "I believe the Tokyo 2020 Games will be passed down to the next generation as an important turning point in Olympic history."

 

B.  "It will be the second time that Tokyo hosts the Olympic and Paralympic Games, where the world is united as one, regardless of differences in nationality, race, culture or religious views.

 

C.  "I strongly hope the younger generation who learn to respect, understand and recognise each other through the Games will play a central role in building an inclusive society."

 

한편 아베 일본총리는 "The last six years (since Tokyo was awarded the 2020 Olympics) have passed very quickly, and I am happy to hear that the preparations have been carried out as planned."라고 덧붙였습니다

 

축하행사 프로그램식순에는 8개 해당 선수단 공식초청장 전달식 이외에 Tokyo2020올림픽 메달문양공개(unveiling of the Tokyo2020 medal designs)과 Tokyo2020올림픽 성화봉송대사들 소개(presentation of the Torch Relay "ambassadors") 및 일본 체조 올림픽참가선수인 Honami Tsuboi의 리듬체조공연도 포함되었습니다.

 

동 행사에는 Yoshida Brothers 및 Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra에 의한 생음악(live music)이 공연되기도 하였다고 합니다

Coates IOC조정위원장은 최근 Tokyo2020올림픽조직위원회에게 대회종료에 따른 즉각적인 유산실행계획(an immediate legacy)을 마련하라고 촉구하였다고 합니다

IOC의 11번 째 Tokyo2020올림픽프로젝트 리뷰 회의 기간 동안 Kyodo News와의 인터뷰에서 Coates조정위원장은 대회 모든 면에서 유산계획을 철저히 할 것으로 촉구한 것(urged organisers to ingrain legacy planning in every aspect of the Games )이라고 합니다

 

그는 인터뷰에서 Tokyo2020올림픽준비관련 (1)“필수고정 인프라’(must-fix infrastructure), (2)교통수송건설도전과제 및 혹서위험요소에 대한 경감조치마련필요성(, construction and mitigation of transport challenges and heat risks)에 대해 지적하였지만 나머지 대부분의 준비에 대해 칭찬일색(full of praise for Tokyo2020)이었다고 합니다

 

Tokyo 2020조직위원회는 2019년 6월에 대회기간 중 예상되는 혹서대책개요내용(an overview of its measures to counter the extreme heat expected during the Games)을 담은 책자를 발간한 바 있다고 합니다

 

혹서문제는 2018년 7월 도시 내 십 수명의 생명을 앗아간 기록적인 열기사태 후 대회에 이르기 까지 조직위원회 관계자들의 가장 큰 근심거리들 중 하나(one of the biggest concerns for organisers in the lead-up to the event after a record heat wave in July 2018 killed over a dozen people in the city)라고 합니다

 

현재까지 320만장정도 분량의 올림픽입장권이 판매 되었으며 20만명을 상회하는 지원자들이 자원봉사자로 지원하였다고 합니다

 

하지만 Tokyo2020조직위원회와 마찬가지로 IOC도 후쿠시마 원전관련 방사능과 관련하여서는 지속적으로 updates를 예의주시하고 있지만 아무런 문제가 없다라는 입장인 것 같습니다.
