G7 지도자들(leaders)은 다가오는 Paris 2024대회를 기다리면서 올림픽휴전을 정상회담 최종 선언문에서 촉구하였다고(called for an Olympic truce in the run-up to the Paris Games in the summit's final declaration)합니다.
성명서에는 “우리는 모든 국가들이 2023년 12월15일 채택된 UN총회 결의안에 명시된 바 대로 개별적으로 그리고 집단적으로 올림픽휴전을 준수할 것을 촉구하는 바임.”(We urge all countries to respect it, individually and collectively, as outlined in the United Nations General Assembly resolution adopted on 15 December 2023)이라고 밝혔다고 합니다.
세계 7댜 가장 산업화된 민주국가들 그룹인 G7(the group of the world's seven most industrialised democracies)국가들은 이태리 남부도시에서의 정상회다 선언문에서 지난 금요일 올림픽휴전을 지지하였으며 전세계가 함께 할 것을 촉구(endorsed the Olympic truce last Friday and called on the world to join it)하였다고 합니다
G7정상회담지도자들은 지난 토요일까지 이태리 Puglia소재 한 호텔에서 개최된 회의에서 올림픽휴전이 2023년 11월21일 UN총회에서 승인되었음을 상기시켰다(he truce was approved by the United Nations General Assembly on 21 November last year)고 합니다.
올림픽휴전결의안은 118표 찬성과 IOC가 러시아를 축출한 것에 대한 항의의 표시로(who protested against Russia's expulsion from the International Olympic Committee) 기권 2표(러시아 와 시리아 대표)로 채택되었다고 합니다.
올림픽휴전이란 올림픽개최 2주간 동안 무기사용을 정지하는 것을 의미(The Olympic truce would mean that guns would fall silent during the two weeks of the Olympic Games)하지만 우크라이나와 Gaza와 같은 대규모 글로벌 영향력을 보여준 2개의 전쟁이 병행되면서 최근 들어 지켜지지 않고 있는 것(but never in recent decades has it coincided with two wars of enormous global impact, such as those in Ukraine and Gaza)이 현실이라고 합니다
현재와 같이 “특히 암울한 역사적 시점(particularly dark historical moment)”에 자신의 저서이며 Athletica Vaticana 의 이니셔티브(an initiative of Athletica Vaticana )인 “평화의 게임(Games of peace). 올림픽과 패럴림픽의 영혼”(The Soul of the Olympic and Paralympic Games)의 서언에서 쓴 것과 같이 프란시스 교황(Pope Francis) 역시 UN총회가 제안한 대로 Paris 2024 올림픽 및 패럴림픽과 관련하여 올림픽휴전에 동참하였다고 합니다.
교황은 “본인의 희망은 구원과 형제애, 희생과 충성의, 팀 정신과 포용의 흥미로운 휴먼스토리를 보여주는 올림픽과 패럴림픽이 극복할 수 없는 장애물을 극복하도록 보이는 본래의 외교적 채널이 될 수 있음”(My hope is that Olympic and Paralympic sport - with its exciting human stories of redemption and brotherhood, of sacrifice and loyalty, of team spirit and inclusion - can be an original diplomatic channel to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles)이라고 책에 썼다고 합니다.
