[Bach IOC위원장 Buenos Aires 2032년올림픽유치경쟁 참여희망 및 대회개최능력충분 검증발언 배경스케치]

 

 

10월18일 한 외신은 Buenos Aires가 2018년 제3회청소년올림픽대회를 성공적으로 개최함에 따라 2032년 올림픽 및 패럴림픽 대회의 훌륭한 개최도시로써의 역량을 갖추고 있다 (the capability to be a great host of the 2032 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games following the "outstanding success" of the youth event)고 Bach IOC위원장이주장하였음을 보도하였습니다.

Bach IOC위원장은 아르헨티나 수도인 Buenos Aires가 2018년 청소년올림픽이 우리의 모드 기대를 초월했었다고 주장하면서 IOC내부에서 그 누구도 2032년 올림픽개최능력에 의심을 표명하는 사람은 아무도 없다(nobody in the IOC had any doubt the Argentinian capital could stage the Games after claiming the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games had "exceeded all our expectations") 고 주장하였다고 합니다

 

 

Bach IOC위원장은 이제 아르헨티나가 2032년 올림픽유치경쟁에 돌입할 것인지에 대한 결정은 그들에게 달려 있으며(now up to Argentine to decide whether the country will enter the race for the 2032 Olympics) 자신은 그들이 올림픽유치후보도시가 될 것에 희망적(hopeful they would become a candidate) 이라고 주장하였다고 합니다.

 

 

Buenos Aires 2018YOG조직위원장 겸 IOC위원인Gerardo Werthein은 이곳 청소년올림픽대회에 대해 충분히 분석하고 나서 아르헨티나 관계자들이 함께 앉아 올림픽유치 가능성에 대해 논의 할 것(would sit down to discuss the possibility after the Youth Olympics here had been fully analysed)이라고 밝혔다고 합니다.

 

 

다음은 Bach IOC위원장의 가장 충직한 측근 인사들 중 한 명으로 간주되고(considered one of Bach's most loyal allies) 있는Gerado Werthein IOC위원의 발언내용입니다:

 

 

A.  "We have to digest and see what lessons are learned from these Games but we have to start thinking if Argentinians want this, if there is consensus, and if we have the economic resources." (우리는 이번 청소년올림픽대회로부터 배운 교훈에 대해 소화하고 살펴보아야 하지만 만일 아르헨티나국민들이 2032년올림픽을 원하고, 의견합치가 이루어지고 경제적 자산이 감당할 수 있다면 올림픽유치에 대해 생각해야 함)

 

B.  "If we all agree that this is a good step for Argentina then we have to sit down, organise, take a look at the budget and make decisions. (만일 우리 모두가 2032년올림픽유치가 아르헨티나를 위한 좋은 조치라고 합의 한다면 그때는 우리가 앉아 조직적으로 예산검토와 더불어 결정을 내려야 한다는 생각임)

 

C.  "I’m very honoured to see that the IOC sees Buenos Aires as a candidate but we are the ones who have to make this decision." (나는 IOC가 Buenos Aires를 올림픽유치후보로 보고 있다는 사실을 알고 영광스럽지만 이러한 결정을 내려야 할 당사자는 바로 우리들임)

 

 

Buenos Aires의 경우 지금까지 여러 차례 올림픽유치에 도전해 온 사례들(bid for the Olympic games on several occasions)이 있다고 합니다,

 

 

Buenos Aires의 첫 번째 올림픽유치시도는 Berlin1936으로 돌아간 1936년 올림픽이었으며, 두 번째 시도는 Melbourne1956에게 당첨된 1956올림픽이었는데 최종개최도시로 낙착된 Melbourne에게 결선투표에서 단 한 표 차이로 석패한(the closest they came to be awarding the Games, losing to Melbourne by only one vote) 것으로 알려졌습니다.

 

 

세 번 째 올림픽유치 시도는 Mexico City1968에게 돌아간 1968년 올림픽이었고 네 번 째 올림픽유치 시도는 Athens2004에게 귀착된 2004년 올림픽이었다고 합니다

Buenos Aires가 올림픽유치후보도시로 확고해 질 경우 2032년 올림픽 및 패럴림픽 유치경쟁 가능후보들로는 인도, 인도네시아, 호주, 독일 및 남북한 등이며 Buenos Aires는 6번 째 유치희망 도시가 될 공산입니다.

 

 

Bach IOC위원장은 10월 초 인도네시아로부터 2032년 올림픽유치에 대한 공식확인문건을 접수하였었다(had received official confirmation)고 발표한 바 있습니다

 

 

지난 9월 남북한은 2032년 올림픽공동유치착수에 합의(agreed to launch a joint bid for the 2032 Games) 한 바 있습니다

 

 

중국의 Shanghai 또한 2032년 대회 유치에 대해 숙고 중(also mulling over a bid) 이며 호주의 Brisbane 역시 Sydney2000올림픽이래 32년 만에 올림픽을 가져올 경쟁자가 될 수 있다(could be a contender to bring the Games back to the country for the first time since Sydney 200)는 외신 보도가 있습니다.

 

 

인도의 경우 2032년 올림픽유치경쟁에 뛰어들 의향이 있음을 공공연하게 확인한 첫 사례이며 독일의 경우 여러 개 도시 연합 유치접근 방식에 관심이 있는 것(also thought to be interested with a multi-city approach)으로 생각되고 있다고 합니다.
