[우크라이나 대통령 Zelenskyy, Kyiv방문한 Bach IOC위원장에게 러시아는 세계스포츠에서 고립무원(孤立無援)이며 우크라이나의 향후 올림픽유치신청의사 재천명하다(7월3일)]
우크라이나 대통령 Volodymyr Zelenskyy은 Kyiv를 방문한 Bach IOC위원장에게 러시아와 벨라루스에 대한 자격정지조치에 대한 “흔들림 없는 입장표명”(unwavering position)에 감사를 표했습니다.

우크라이나 NOC위원장인 Sergey Bubka가 배석한 두 정상의 면담에서 Zelenskyy대통령은 러시아의 우크라이나 침공으로 우크라이나에서의 스포츠가 얼마나 궤멸될 정도로 초토화(decimated)가 되었는지에 대하여 언급하였습니다.
Zelenskyy대통령은 “수십 만명 이상의 선수들이 연습할 기회를 잃었으며”(More than a hundred thousand Ukrainian athletes do not have the opportunity of training) “수백 개의 체육시설들이 파괴 되었는바 이것들은 대규모 스포츠인프라 시설들과 우크라이나 학교와 대학교와 스포츠클럽 체육시설들임”(Hundreds of sports facilities were destroyed: these are both large sports infrastructure facilities and facilities based on Ukrainian schools, universities and sports clubs)이라고 설명하였습니다.
추가적으로 Zelenskyy대통령에 따르면, 많은 우크라이나 선수들이 조국 수호를 위해 최전선에서 조국 수호를 위해 군에 자원 입대하였다고 합니다.
지금까지 89명의 선수들과 코치들이 적과의 대치 결과로 사망(died as a result of hostilities)하였으며 13명이 사로잡혔으며 러시아 포로가 되었다(in Russian captivity)고 Zelenskyy대통령은 주장하였습니다.
Zlelenskyy대통령은 “테러리스트국가가 스포츠를 정치적 이익과 선전에 이용하는 것은 허용될 수 없는 일임”(It cannot be allowed that a terrorist state uses sports to promote its political interests and propaganda) “러시아가 우크라이나 사람들을 살상하며 다른 유럽국가들까지 정복하려고 드는 동안에 러시아 대표들은 세계스포츠공동체에서 자리매김할 곳은 없는 것임”(While Russia is trying to destroy the Ukrainian people and conquer other European countries, its representatives have no place in the world's sports community) “본인은 Bach IOC위원장이 러시아와 벨라루스 선수들이 IOC의 후원 하에 열리는 공식 국제대회출전자격정지조치와 관련하여 흔들리지 않는 입장을 견지해 준데 대하여 감사하는 바임”(I am grateful to Mr President for his unwavering position regarding the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from official competitions under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee)이라고 치하하였습니다.
Bach IOC위원장은 우크라이나 대통령에게 러시아와 벨라루스에 대한 금지조치는 유지될 것이라고 확신시켜 주면서 “금지조치해제 시간이 아직 도래하지 않았음”(The time has not yet come to lift such a ban) “우크라이나인들만 홀로 고통을 감내하고 있는 것이 아니며 우리가 함께 그들과 같이하고 있고 우리는 그들과 나란히 함께 서서, 우리의 마음과 영혼과 생각과 행동을 다하여 그들을 지원할 것임”(They are not alone with their troubles, we are on their side, we stand side by side with them and support them with our heart, soul, thoughts and deeds)
두 정상의 면담 동안, Bach IOC위원장과 Zelenskyy대통령은 또한 우크라이나의 스포츠 인프라 복구에 대하여서도 논의(discussed the restoration of sports infrastructure in Ukraine)하였다고 합니다
이러한 이슈는 7월 하순 스위스 Lugano에서 예정된 우크라이나 재건관련 회의와 IOC 후원 하에 열릴 계획인 특별 제공 기증자 회의(special donor conference) 양쪽에서 제기될 것이라고 합니다.
Zelelskyy대통령은 “우리가 전쟁에서의 승리 후 우크라이나에서 최고수준의 국제스포츠이벤트 개최를 위하여 필요한 모든 조건을 제공할 수 있을 것임”(I have no doubt that after our victory we will be able to provide all necessary conditions for holding international sports events at the highest level in Ukraine) “우리 선수들과 우리나라는 이미 올림픽운동발전을 위해중요한 기여를 해 왔음”(Our athletes, our country, have already made a significant contribution to the development of the Olympic Movement) “그러나 우리에게 주어진 기회가 훨씬 더 훌륭하며 우리는 이러한 기회를 확실하게 활용하도록 실행에 들어갈 것임”(But our opportunities are much greater, and we will certainly implement them)이라고 덧붙었습니다.

Bach IOC위원장은 올림픽 훈련센터에서 우크라이나선수들을 만났으며 향후 국제대회준비에 있어서 더 많은 지원을 아끼지 않을 것임을 약술(outlined further support in preparation for future events)하였습니다.
IOC의 對 우크라이나지원기금은 현재 US$750만불(약 97.5억원)으로 알려지고 있는데 Bach IOC위원장은 이 정도의 기금이면 국내외 3.000명정도의 선수들에 대하여 지원이 가능하다고 주장하였다고 합니다.
Bach IOC위원장은 “우리는 우크라이나국가대표팀이 Paris2024올림픽 및 Milan-Cortina 22026 동계올림픽에 출하여 강력하고, 성공적이고 자랑스런 모습을 보일 수 있도록 하는 방식으로 그들을 지원하고 있다”(We support them in a way to be able to see a strong, successful, proud Ukrainian national Olympic team at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris and the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina)고 지원의사를 분명히 하였습니다.
