2. 많이 쓰이고 유용한 표현

*거짓말/허튼소리를 하고 있다: to talk through one's hat (=to make up a story/ to lie/ to imagine)
1)Mrs. Smith said her daughter has been chosen to make a movie in Hollywood, but she was talking through her hat.(스미스 부인은 그녀 딸이 할리우드에서 영화를 제작하도록 발탁되었다고 말했지만 허튼소리였다.)
2)When Jimmy said he got a hundred in the algebra test, you can be sure he was talking through his hat.(지미가 대수학시험에서 백점만점 받았다고 떠 벌렸지만 그 친구가 없는 이야기를 지어냈다는 걸 확신할 수 있을 걸세.)
3)Jimmy says there's a bear in the kitchen, but he's talking through his hat.(지미가 부엌에 곰이 있다고 말하는데 상상으로 꾸며되고 있나봐.)
