WT(본부: 서울)와 ITF(본부: 오스트리아 비엔나 소재) 두 개의 글로벌 태권도 관할 단체들이 협업을 발전시켜 나가고 있는 가운데(as the two organisations continue to develop their collaboration)세계태권도(WT: World Taekwondo)대표단과 WT산하 태권도 시범 단이 국제태권도 연맹(ITF: International Taekwnodo Federation) 리용선 (Ri Yong Son) 총재초청으로 북한에 초대되었다고 한 외신이 9월19일 자로 보도하였습니다.

총 50명의 WT멤버들과 서울에 기반을 둔 22명으로 구성된 태권도 시범 단은 오는 10월30일부터 11월3일까지 5일간 평양을 방문하도록 초대 받았다(invited to fly over to Pyongyang for a five-day visit from October 30 to November 3)고 합니다
평양 방문기간 동안, 세계태권도 시범 단은 평양태권도 전당에서(at the Pyongyang Taekwondo Hall) 2번 시범을 할 것인데 한 번은 10월31일 단독시범, 그리고 11월2일에는 WT-ITF합동시범(a World Taekwondo-ITF joint performance)으로 이어질 것이라고 합니다.
WT의 평양방문은 지난 4월 WT시범 단이 시범 차 평양방문 후 다시 처음이라고 합니다
다음은 태권도 대표단장으로 평양을 방문할 예정인 조정원 WT총재의 발언내용입니다:
A. "Sport provides avenues for diplomacy, and taekwondo is one such avenue." (스포츠는 외교로 가는 길을 제공해 주며, 태권도는 그러한 한가지 길임)
B. "I look forward to meeting our counterparts from the ITF and investigating ways we can help upgrade inter-Korean trust and peace, while also advancing the promotion of our sport worldwide." (나는 ITF관계자들과의 회동과 남북한 간의 신뢰와 평화를 한 단계 상승시킬 방법들을 모색하고자 학수고대하고 있으며, 한편으로 또한 우리 태권도종목을 세계 속에서 홍보에 박차를 가하고자 함)

조정원 WT총재는 WT와 ITF 두 단체 간의 협업을 한 단계 끌어 올리기로 약속되어 있으며(committed to enhancing collaboration between World Taekwondo and the ITF), 두 연맹들 간의 협력관계가 중국 Nanjing개최 청소년올림픽(YOG)기간 동안 합의 의정서가 체결된(signed a Protocol of Accord) 2014년 이래 현저히 발전되어 왔다(cooperation between the two federations has developed significantly since 2014)고 언급한 것으로 알려졌습니다.
다음달 10월 행사는 양 단체 간의 협력 움직임의 장기간 라인의 최신판(the latest in a long line of co-operative moves)이 될 것이라고 합니다
WT-ITF 합동 태권도시범공연은 이미 평창2018동계올림픽 연장선 상에서(joint World Taekwondo-ITF demonstrations on the sidelines of the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics) 1년 전인 2017년 무주개최 세계태권도선수권대회 및 2015년 러시아 Chelyabinsk개최 세계선수권대회에서 호흡을 맞춘 바 있다고 합니다.
향후 상호협업을 위한 조치와 잠재적 분야(Future steps and potential areas of mutual co-operation)에 대하여서는 다음 달 10월 회동에서 논의될 예정이라고 합니다.
