[Bach IOC위원장 범미주스포츠기구(PASO)총회화상연설, IOC의 新世界구상준비완료(Ready to Shape New World)주장하다]
8월31일 칠레 Santiago Sheraton호텔 개최 범미주스포츠기구(PASO: Pan American Sports Organization)총회에서 Bach IOC위원장은 IOC가 ‘신세계구상준비완료’(ready to shape this new world)되었음을 주장하며 PASO도 ‘미래를 위한 발진에 동참’을(to set a course for the future) 촉구하였습니다.

Bach IOC위원장의 이러한 코멘트는 칠레 수도 Santiago에서 열린 PASO총회에 화상으로 전달된 스피치를 통해 발표되었다고 합니다
그는 코로나19상황임에도 불구하고 지난 12개월 동안 범미주스포츠기구(PASO)가 컬럼비아 Cali개최 첫 주니어 팬암게임(Junior Pan American Games)과 Guadeloupe개최 카리브게임(Caribbean Games)을 포함하여 종합스포츠이벤트를 개최한 것에 대하여 치하하였습니다.
2년간의 코로나19위기상황이 경과한 즈음, Bach IOC위원장은 선수들이 경기에 복귀하는 것을 보게 되는 것은 좋은 일이지만 세상이 ‘갈등과 전쟁이 창궐하는’ (with conflicts and wars on the rise)아직 ‘어려운 시기’에 봉착하고 있음(still faced difficult times)을 주장하였다고 합니다.
Bach IOC위원장은 “스포츠가 평화와 단결을 도모하고자 하는 응집력”(unifying power of sport to promote peace and solidarity)이 “그 어느때보다 절실한(needed more than ever) 시점 임도 강조하였습니다.
그는 이어서 “여러분 모두와 함께라면, IOC는 우리의 공유된 올림픽 가치와 함께 새로운 세상을 만들어 나갈 각오가 되어 있음”(Together with all of you, the IOC is ready to shape this new world with our shared Olympic values) “이것이 바로 올림픽 어젠더 2020+5가 UN이 설정한 지속가능 개발 목표를 성취해 주는 중요한 중간자로서의 스포츠의 역할을 강화시켜주는 것에 초점을 맞춘 이유임”(This is why our Olympic Agenda 2020+5 is focused on strengthening the role of sport as an important enabler for the UN [United Nations] Sustainable Development Goals) “범미주스포츠기구가 올림피언365프로그램에 선순환적으로 참여하고 있다는 사실을 보고 대단하다고 생각함”(It is great to see Panam Sports engaging proactively with Olympians 365) “우리가 각국올림픽위원회들과 교육, 양성평등, 기후변화대처 및 그 이상의 분야에 참여하고 있는 사회개발기관들과의 파트너십을 강화하고자 기본 틀을 만들어 가고 있음”(Our framework to strengthen the partnership with NOCs [National Olympic Committees] and social development institutions in areas such as education, gender equality, climate action and many more) “이러 식으로 한다면, 우리는 함께 손을 잡고 스포츠의 사회적 역할을 강화해 나갈 수 있으며 우리는 스포츠가 인류를 위해 봉사하도록 하는 공유된 사명을 보다 원활하게 추구해 나갈 수 있는 기회가 허용되는 것임(In this way, we are joining hands to strengthen the role of sport in society, allowing us to even better pursue our shared mission to put sport at the serve of humankind)이라고 역설하였습니다.
Bach IOC위원장은 범미주스포츠기구(PASO: Pan American Sports Organization/북중남미 각국올림픽위원회 연합회)회장인 칠레의Neven Ilic(IOC위원)이 2023년 팬암게임을 Santiago에서 개최하도록 준비하면서 “북중남미를 모두 아울러 스포츠와 그 가치를 증진시키는 길을 선도하며”(leading the way to promote sport and its values through the Americas) 보여준 그의 “위대한 지도력”(great leadership)을 치하하면서 “PASO총회에서 귀하는 모든 가능한 기회를 모두 총 동원하여 Santiago 바로 이곳에서 2023년 범미주대회를 시작으로 Paris2024올림픽과 그 너머의 LA2028올림픽까지 가는 미래로 향하는 여정의 과정을 자리매김하고 있는 것임”(At your General Assembly, you have every opportunity to set the course for the future from the 2023 Pan American Games held right here in Santiago in Chile to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and even beyond that to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games) “범미주스포츠라는 토대 위에 굳건히 자리 잡은 현 시점에서 범미주국가 선수들이 보여준 성과로 인해 우리가 단합되어 함께 우뚝 선다면, 우리는 보다 빨리 전진할 수 있고 보다 높게 목표를 지향할 수 있으며 보다 힘차게 일어 설수 있기 때문에 귀하는 위대한 신뢰를 바탕으로 앞을 내다 볼 수 있는 것임”(Building on the strong foundation that you have at Panam Sports you can look ahead with great confidence because your athletes have shown us that we can only go faster, we can only aim higher and we can only become stronger if we stand together in solidarity)이라고 독려하였다고 합니다.
