K-Pop그룹 BTS의 맏형인 Jin(31세)이 다른 형태의 불꽃 공연을 선 보일 것(performing a different kind of fire)인데 Paris2024올림픽에 대한민국을 대표하여 “화합과 평화”의 메시지를 전파하고자 하는 소망으로 성화봉송주자로 올림픽성화를 봉송(carrying the Olympic flame as torchbearer for the Paris Games, representing South Korea in hopes of spreading the message of "harmony" and "peace")한다고 합니다.
Jin은 성화봉송기간 동안 프랑스의 다채로운 역사 유적지를 가로질러 성화 봉송에 참여한다고 합니다. 최근 군복무를 마친 (mandatory military service) Jin이 성화 봉송에 참여하는 시기는 아직 불분명하다고 합니다.
Paris2024올림픽을 위하여 거행되는 성화 봉송은 프랑스의 역사에 대한 독특한 이해와 식견을 제공하는데 초점을 맞추고 있는데 각각 다른 시대 간의 연결고리 형성 목적(building links between different eras)과 역사의 주요 맥락이 되는 시기에 프랑스의 명성과 영향력에 기여한 특별한 지역들에 대한 집중 조명(showcasing exceptional sites that contributed to France’s reputation and influence during each major period of its history)목적이 담겨있다고 합니다.
성화봉송루트를 따라 각 스포츠연맹들과 클럽들은 집합적 성화봉송을 조직하게 되는데 서핑에서부터 사이클과 카누에 이르기까지 각해당종목을 집중 조명하게 된다고 합니다. 성화는 또한 마르세유 스타디움(Marseille Stadium)과 Saint-Etienne에 소재한 Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium 그리고 Roland-Garros의 Simonne-Mathieu Court 테니스 코트 등을 포함한 유명 스포츠 경기장도 순화하여 축하 행사의 일환으로 참여하게 될 것이라고 합니다.
Paris 2024올림픽 성화는 고대올림픽발상지(the birthplace of the ancient Olympics)인 그리스 올림피아에서 지난 4월 채화(점화)되었는데 지중해를 횡단하고 대서양과 태평양을 횡단하여 프랑스령 국가들을 돌고 돌아 프랑스에 도착하면서 그 이래로 계속 프랑스 전역을 돌면서 봉송 중(travelling in a relay ever since, crossing the Mediterranean Sea to France, making its way through the country and crossing the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans to the French territories)이라고 합니다.
성화는 이제 프랑스로 귀환하여 개회식(7월26일)일정에 맞춰 Paris로 진입하게 되며 개회식 당일 날 올림픽의 시작을 알리는 신호로써 개회식 장에 위치한 성화 로에 점화하게 됩니다. (The flame is back on mainland France, making its way to Paris for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, where it will light the cauldron signalling the commencement of the Olympiad.)
