세계 각국올림픽위원회총연합회(ANOC: Association of National Olympic Committees)회장 대행인 피지 IOC집행위원 Robin Mitchell은 Beijing2022동계올림픽종료시점에 “스포츠를 통하여 우리 모두를 연합 시켜주었다”(United Us through Sport)라고 평가하였습니다.
Mitchell ANOC회장대행은 Beijing2022동계올림픽 기간 동안 조정위원회 일일 회의(daily Coordination Commission meetings)에 ANOC를 대표하여 참석한 바 있으며 대회조직위원회 관계자들의 노고를 치하하였습니다.
다음은 Mitchell ANOC회장대행의 발언 내용입니다:
A."Beijing 2022 put athletes back at the forefront and allowed them to showcase their exceptional talents." (Beijing2022동계올림픽은 참가선수들이 다시 전방에 서도록 해 주었으며 그들의 재능을 유감 없이 발휘하도록 만전을 기해 주었음)
B."We have witnessed so many incredible performances over the last two weeks which will live long in the memory after we have returned home. (지난 2주간 귀국 후에도 기억에 오래 남을 엄청나고 수 많은 경기 장면, 장면들을 목격하였음)
C."We must express our gratitude to the IOC [International Olympic Committee] and Beijing 2022 Organising Committee for their tireless efforts in ensuring the Games could be held safely and that our athletes could be provided with the international platform they deserve. (우리는 IOC와 Beijing2022조직위원회에게 대회가 안전하게 치러져 우리 선수들이 각자의 기량을 유감 없이 펼쳐 보일 수 있도록 하게 함을 통해 대회 성공을 공고히 하기 위해 애쓴 노고에 대하여 감사를 표명하는 바임)
D."While the Games is undoubtedly about excellence, it is also about so much more than winning medals. (올림픽은 탁월함을 지향하지만 다른 한편으로는 메달 획득 그 이상의 가치를 실현하는 무대임)
E."Despite the challenges, the Games united us through sport, and for every medal there were countless more displays of friendship and respect." (도전과제에도 불구하고 이번 대회는 우리 모드를 스포츠를 통해 단결하도록 하여 주었으며 메달 하나 하나에 우정과 존중 그 이상의 기상이 깃들여 있는 것임)
Michell ANOC회장대행 겸 IOC집행위원이 역시 회장으로 있는 오세아니아각국올림픽위원회 연합회(ONOC: Oceania National Olympic Committees)소속 뉴질랜드가 사상 초유의 동계올림픽 금메달을 Zoi Sadowski-Synnott 선수가 여자 스노보드 Slopestyle종목에서 Nico Porteous 선수가 남자 스키 하프파이프 종목에서 각각 획득하는 쾌거를 거두었습니다.
동계올림픽 사상 최초로 2개 NOC인 아이티(Haiti)와 사우디(Saudi Arabia)가 동계올림픽에 선수를 파견하였습니다.
우크라이나 스켈레톤 종목 출전 선수인 Vladyslav Heraskevych는 “우크라이나에 전쟁이 없기를”(No War in Ukraine)이란 배너를 표출하였는데(displaying a banner) 우정의 사인으로 볼 수 있는(can be seen as a sign of friendship_ 한 순간이기도 하였습니다.
Beijing 2022 동계올림픽은 논란거리가 없을 수 없었는데 특히 중국의 인권문제와 위구르 크로스컨트리스키선수인 Dinigeer Yilamujiang이 올림픽성화로에 점화하도록 선정하는 결정으로 인해 돋보이기도 하였습니다.
대회 중반 2021 년 12월25일 약물 검사에 실패한 것으로 알려졌지만 출전이 허용된 15세 러시아 여자 피겨선수 Kamila Valieva 스캔들이 결정적 사례로 드러났었으며(proved decisive) 코로나19 격리(isolation)상태에 놓이기 되었을 대 야기된 조건들에 대한 불평이 제기되기도 하였습니다
Gunilla Lindberg ANOC 사무총장은 많은 NOCs들이 코로나19양성반응 또는 밀접 접촉으로 추정되는 선수들 관련 이슈들을 다른 방식으로 정정하려고 애쓴 조직위원회 관계자들에게 감사를 표명하였습니다.

A."We sincerely thank Beijing 2022 and the IOC for hosting a wonderful Winter Games." (훌륭한 대회를 개최한 Beijing2022조직위원회와 IOC에 감사함)
B."There were of course challenges as at any Games, but our hosts moved so quickly to solve them and the feedback we received from NOCs has been positive. (물론 어느 올림픽에나 도전과제는 있어 왔지만 개최국에서 도전과제 해결에 신속히 대처하였으며 우리가 참가국 NOCs들로 받은 반응 역시 긍정적 이었음)
C."The NOCs deserve special recognition for the fantastic job they have done in supporting their athletes before and during Beijing 2022. (대회기간 전이나 대회기간동안 해당국 선수들 지원을 위해 각국 NOCs들은 최선을 다해 훌륭한 성과를 보여준데 대하여 특별한 인정을 받을 만하다고 생각됨)
D."It has not been easy, especially during a pandemic and with Tokyo 2020 taking place just six months before, but the NOCs have demonstrated their resilience, adaptability and determination to serve their athletes.
