[종합무예(Mixed Martial Arts)국제연맹(IMMAF) WADA코드 서명으로 올림픽종목에 한 발 더 접근(Step Closer to Becoming Olympic Sport/12월23일)]
국제혼합무예연맹(IMMAF: International Mixed Martial Arts Federation)이 세계반도핑기구(WADA: World Anti-Doping Agency)코드 서명단체지위(WADA Code signatory status)획득으로 IMMAF는 혼합무예종목을 올림픽스포츠 대열에 한 걸음 더 접근할 수 있도록 중요한 행보를 이룩하였다.
충청권을 기반으로 한 한국 주도의 세계무예마스터십위원회(World Martial Arts Committee)가 IMMAF와 협력관계구축을 통해 스포츠외교의 외연을 넓혀 나아가기를 바란다.
IMMAF는 118개국 가맹경기단체가 승인되었거나 승인 검토 중이라고 주장하고 있는데 현재 LA2028올림픽 추가종목편입을 위해 강력한 로비를 계획 중이긴 하지만 아마도 가능성을 크지 않다고 본다. 그럼에도 Brisbane2032올림픽 추가종목채택을 위하여 적극적이고 지속적인 행보를 보일 것으로 전망된다.
WADA코드 서명단체지위획득은 2021년초에 발효된 새로운 코드 서명단체인증요건 개정 정책 하에서 첫 사례 국제기구(the first organisation to be inducted under the revised policy for acceptance of new signatories that came into effect at the beginning of 2021)가 된 셈이다.
IMMAF(회장: Kerrith Brown)의 자격인정 신청은 2020년 9월에 검토된 바 있으며 IMMAF는 WADA정책발효 1년 만인 2022년 1월1일부로 공식인증서명단체가 될 전망이다.

WADA는 이전인 2019년 IMMAF가 WADA 코드서명단체(a code signatory)신청 당시 승인을 거부한 바 있는데 IMMAF는 법적 소송까지 벌인 바 있을 정도였다.
이러한 법적 소송에는 IMMAF의 신청이 GAISF의 회원인정단체가 아니었기에 거부당하였으며 WADA는 독립적인 단체이기에 논란의 소지가 있다는 쟁점이 있었다.
IMMAF는 2015년 WADA 코드 및 표준 지침(Standards)에 근거하여 반도핑정책을 먼저 실행한 바 있었다.
경기 중 검사 (in-competition testing)제도가 2015년IMMAF세게선수권대회를 시작으로 국제 아마추어 MMA토너먼트에도 도입된 바 있다.
IMMAF는 영국 체육회(UK Sport) 윤리 및 반도핑국장을 역임한 Michele Verroke가 설립한 국제적으로 잘 알려진 전문 컨설팅업체인 Sporting Integrity Ltd.와 협업하여 IMMAF반도핑 정책과 프로그램을 개발하고 있다,
