1.  D-500일 카운트 다운에 담긴 취지와 의미(PyeongChang 2018 Countdown: 500 days to go)

 

(1) With Rio 2016 drawn to a close, PyeongChang 2018 is in the global spotlight to stage the next international mega-sports event. (Rio2016종료 후 평창2018, 차기 지구촌 최대 스포츠제전 개최도시로 글로벌 각광 집중조명)

 

(2) On February 9, 2018, the mountain resort region of Gangwon Province will turn into a world festival beyond sport. (2018년 2월9일 강원도의 산악 리조트 스포츠 그 이상의 세계의 축제 중심지로 변모)

 

(3) PyeongChang will bring drama, passion, joy, tears, and hope to sports fans around the world. (평창2018, 드라마, 열전, 기쁨, 눈물과 희망을 전 세계 스포츠 팬들에게 선사할 것임)

 

(4) Tuesday, September 27 will mark another significant point in the build up to the Olympic Winter Games, being exactly 500 days until the opening ceremony. (2016년 9월27일, 평창2018개최식까지 500일 카운트다운의 중요한 시점임)

(10)            In less than 17 months until PyeongChang takes center stage, POCOG is making the transition from the planning phase to operational readiness. (이제 17개월 못 미쳐 평창2018이 중심역할을 할 때까지 POCOG, 기획단계에서 운영준비태세로 전환에 필요한 모든 조치 완수예정)

(14)            The high speed railway will be completed in June, 2017 and will reduce travel time between Seoul and PyeongChang from three hours to an hour and Incheon International Airport and PyeongChang from 3.5 hours to less than 2 hours. (17)            IOC representatives, including IOC President Thomas Bach and Coordination Commission Chair Gunilla Lindberg, visited the host city a few days before the 500 days-to-go mark and commended the organizing committee by commenting, “We see great progress in PyeongChang,” and “keep the enthusiasm, keep the energy!”(Bach IOC위원장 및 Lindberg IOC 조정위원장 등 IOC대표단은 최근 G-500일에 즈음한 시기 평창방문에서 POCOG을 치하함: “평창의 엄청난 진척을 목격하였으며 그 정열과 에너지를 유지하기 바람”)

 

 

 

4.  평창동계올림픽유치 3수도전의 긴 여정과 성과

 

(18)            When the town of PyeongChang first pitched its Olympic dream 13 years ago, it was a just vacation spot for winter sports enthusiasts. (평창 타운이 13년 전 올림픽 꿈을 처음 선보였을 당시, 평창은 그저 단순히 동계 스포츠 애호 인들의 휴양지에 불과하였음)

 

(19)            After losing the bid to Vancouver in 2003 and Sochi in 2007, PyeongChang bid committee organizers rigorously examined the previous failures while improving the plans and investing in the local infrastructure. 6.  평창의 동계스포츠 발전기여 로드맵(Roadmap), “ Dream Program”의 성과

 

 

(26)            Since 2004, Gangwon Province has been organizing a sports training program called ‘The Dream Program’ to introduce winter sports to youth around the world who have limited or no access to winter sports. (2004년 이래, 강원도는 동계스포츠 양성프로그램인 “드림 프로그램”을 조직함으로 동계스포츠 취약지역 전 세계국가들 청소년들에게 동계스포츠를 소개하고 훈련기회를 부여하여 왔음)

 

(27)            Over 1550 participants (105 with disabilities) from 100 nations took part in the winter sports academy so far. (지금까지 12년 간 100개국들로부터 105명의 장애인을 포함하여 1,550명의 참가자들이 동계스포츠 사관학교에 입교하여 참가하여왔음)
