Laurent Michaud Paris 2024올림픽 선수촌 국장은 영국Sky News와의 인터뷰에서 Paris 2024올림픽에서 Paris근교에 위치한 올림픽선수촌에서 거주하게 될14,000명이 넘는 선수들과 코치들이 사용하도록 배포할 것이라고 하면서 “이곳 선수촌에서의 유쾌한 분위기가 고조되는 것이 매우 중요함”(It's very important that the conviviality here is something big)이라고 언급하였다고 합니다.
Tokyo2020올림픽에서는 150,000개의 콘돔이 배포되었음에도 불구하고 선수들간의 친밀한 교제에도 제약/제한적 정책과 금지조치가 밀접한 신체접촉이 현저히 부재중인 상황에서 주인공으로 자리매김(restrictive policies and bans on intimacy for athletes were the protagonists of where close physical contact was conspicuously absent)하기도 하였지만 Paris 2024의 이러한 정책은 일상적 지표의 원상복귀(a return to the usual parameters)라고 합니다
서울1988올림픽이래로 대회조직위원회관계자들은 AIDS바이러스감염으로부터의 보호와 이에 대한 인식 제고는 물론 사람들의 건강을 기본권으로 보호하기 위하여 콘돔을 배포해(distributed condoms to raise awareness of and protection against the AIDS virus and to protect people's health as a fundamental right) 온 바 있는데 Laurent Michaud Paris 2024올림픽 선수촌 국장은 “IOC선수위원회와 협업하면서 우리는 선수들이 열정과 안락함을 주는 장소를 창출하기를 원했음”(Working with the athletes' commission, we wanted to create some places where the athletes would feel very enthusiastic and comfortable)이라고 덧붙였다고 합니다.
친밀한 교제는 올림픽에서 다시 한번 허용되는 반면(While intimacy is once again allowed at the Olympic Games, alcohol will not be allowed in the Olympic Village) 알코올은 올림픽 선수촌에서 불허될 것이지만 중요한 채식 메뉴를 포함하여 세계각국의 문화를 존중하는 음식뿐만 아니라 프랑스 별식을 제공하는 공식 요리제공장소 밖에서 알코올 섭취를 금지할 수 없는 노릇(although no one can ban it outside the official gastronomic venue, which will offer French specialities as well as dishes that respect cultures from around the world, including a significant vegan menu)이라고 덧붙였다고 합니다
올림픽선수촌 거주자 1인 당 콘돔 배포 수는 20개 남짓이지만(although the number is just over 20 condoms per Olympic Village resident) IOC가 Rio2016올림픽 당시 배포했던 대략 450,000개의 콘돔과 여성용 콘돔 100,000개 그리고 175,000병의 윤활제와 같은 기록적인 콘돔 수보다는 훨씬 못 미치는 것(far from the record set at Rio 2016, where the IOC distributed nearly 450,000 condoms, 100,000 female condoms and 175,000 bottles of lubricant)으로 알려지고 있습니다.
환산해 보면 배포 개수는 선수 또는 대표단 임원 1인 당 평균 거의 40개로써 7월26일~8월11일 개최되는Paris 2024올림픽에서 배포되는 수의 거의 곱절에 해당한다(an average of almost 40 per athlete or delegation member, almost double the figure for Paris 2024 between 26 July and 11 August 고 합니다.
