[중국국가주석 역사적인 IOC방문 Bach IOC위원장과의 밀월관계 신호탄?]

 

1월18일 자 한 외신 기사제목은 “중국국가주석 IOC를 방문하여 스포츠 발전과 Beijing2022동계올림픽 관련 논의하다”(Chinese President visits IOC to discuss development of sport and Beijing 2022)였습니다.

시진핑 중국국가주석은 1월18일 로잔느 IOC본부를 방문한 자리에서 Beijing2022대회가 “괄목할만하고, 특별하며 훌륭한 대회”(a remarkable, extraordinary and excellent Games)로 치러질 것임을 약속하였다고 합니다.

 

금번 IOC 방문은 중국국가주석(Chinse Head of State)으로는 역사적인 사상 첫 IOC본부 공식방문이었는데 Xi 주석은 다보스 세계경제포럼(the World Economic Forum in Davos) 참석 차 스위스 둘러보기의 일환(as part of a Swiss tour)으로 보입니다

 

Xi주석과 Bach IOC위원장은 Beijing2022동계올림픽준비관련 사항뿐만 아니라 스포츠의 미래상황에 대해 논의하기에 앞서 먼저 올림픽박물관을 방문하였다고 합니다.

 

다음은 IOC가 추후 배포한 Xi 주석의 성명서에 담긴 발언 내용입니다:

 

(1) "Over the years, the IOC and President Bach have made important contributions to support the healthy development not only of the Olympic Movement but also the development of sport in China," (IOC와 Bach IOC위원장의 올림픽운동과 중국스포츠발전에 기여한 것에 대한 인정 및 치하)

 

(2) "I would like to express my appreciation for what you have done. (이룩한 공적에 감사표명)

 

(3) “We have many dreams, the Chinese dream of turning China into a society of prosperity; the dream of promoting the Olympic Movement; and also the dream of fostering a community of shared destiny for the whole of humanity. (중국의 다양한 꿈은 인류전체를 위한 공유된 운명공동체 육성의 꿈과 일치함)

 

(4) "All the dreams are interconnected and integrated with one another. (모든 꿈들은 상호 연결되고 있으며 서로서로 통합되어 있음)

 

(5) "In this respect, I believe the IOC has a huge role to play to help the fulfilment of all these dreams." (이러한 관점에서 IOC야말로 이러한 모든 꿈들이 성취되도록 도와주는 지대한 역할 자임을 믿고 있음)

 

Xi주석과 Bach IOC위원장과의 논의 내용들 중 Beijing2008올림픽에서 연루선수들의 도핑테스트 샘플 들 재검사 결과 3명의 역도 금메달이 박탈당한 중국도핑문제에 대한 기록은 없는 것(no record of them discussing the Chinese doping problems )으로 보도되었다고 합니다.

두 정상은 Beijing2008올림픽 당시 IOC위원장을 역임한 Jacques Rogge전임 IOC위원장과도 역시 자리를 함께 하였다고 합니다.

 

그 외 배석한 인물들로는 Yu Zaiqing 중국 IOC부위원장을 비롯하여 추가로 2명의 중국 IOC위원들인 Li Lingwei와 과거 쇼트트랙 우승자인 Yang Yang 그리고 Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah 쿠웨이트 출신 ANOC 및 OCA회장도 포함되어 있었던 것으로 알려졌습니다.

 

금번 Xi 주석의 IOC방문은 Bach IOC위원장이 러시아 도핑위기에 대한 대응에 대한 몇 몇 국가 정부들 내에 일고 있는 불안감 표출 후(after growing unease within some Governments over his response to the Russian doping crisis) 세계강국들로부터의 지지를 끌어 모으기 위해 동분서주하고 있는 타이밍에 시기적절 한 것(at a time when Bach is keen to shore up support from the world superpower)으로 보고 있습니다.

 

Bach IOC위원장의 발언 내용입니다:

 

(1) "China and the IOC enjoy excellent relations and strong cooperation on many different levels." (중국과 IOC는 많은 다른 수준에서 훌륭한 관계와 강력한 협력관계를 우호적으로 지속하고 있음)

 

(2) "The historic visit of President Xi Jinping to the IOC is another expression of this great cooperation and our friendship with the Chinese people. (Xi주석의 역사적인 IOC방문은 이러한 위대한 협력관계와 중국 국민들과의 우호적인 관계에 대한 또 하나의 표현임)

 

(3) "This is an excellent foundation to write history once more, with Beijing set to become the first city in the world to host both the summer and winter editions of the Olympic Games." (Beijing이 동 하계올림픽을 모두 개최하는 세계에서 첫 번째 주인공이 되는 역사를 쓰게 된 훌륭한 반석임)

 

서양세계 몇 몇 나라들로부터 일고 있는 냉담함 가운데(amid apathy in some spheres of the western world)에도 중국은 주요 스포츠 행사들을 꾸준히 유치해 주고 있는 신뢰할 만한 이해당사자들 중 한 축을 형성해 주고 있는 상황입니다.

Xinhua사 통신에 따르면 Xi주석은 Beijing2022올림픽이 향후 수 년 간 중국정부가 중점적으로 수행해야 할 주요우선과제(a major task)가 될 것이라고 언급하였다고 합니다.

 

Xi주석은 Beijing2022를 “환경적이고, 공유적이고, 공개적이며, 청렴 결백하게 “(in a green, sharing, open and clean-fingered manner) 준비하고 개최할 것”이라고 언급한 것으로 보도되었다고 합니다.

 

Xi주석은 2015년 베이징개최 IAAF세게육상선수권대회에서 Bach IOC위원장을 만난 바는 있지만 2015년 카자흐스탄의 알마티(Almat)와 맞붙어 승리한 Beijing2022동계올림픽유치 경쟁무대의 화룡점정 격인 콸라룸푸르개최 IOC총회에는 참석하지 않았다고 합니다.

 

당시 Xi주석은 동계올림픽유치결정 IOC총회 베이징 최종 프레젠테이션 초입 부에 비디오를 통해 영상메시지 연결로(in a video link message)출연 한 바 있습니다.
