베이징2022 IOC신임 조정위원장임명과 관련 현 Zhukov위원장이 중도사퇴를 강행할 경우 “즉각적인 결정”(an "immediate decision")이 Thomas Bach IOC위원장에 의해 내려질 것이라고 Samaranch IOC부위원장이 10월12일 베이징 현지에서 주장하였다는 보도입니다.

 

Zhukov IOC조정위원장(60세)은10월11일 본인이 맡고 있는 러시아올림픽위원회(ROC: Russian Olympic Committee)위원장의 역할을 2016년 말 포기할 (relinquish his role)계획임을 공개하였습니다.

 

그리 되면 NOC위원장 자격으로 IOC위원에 선임된 Zhukov는 IOC위원 지위도 잃게 될 전망입니다.

 

러시아 전임 부총리 출신인 Alexander Zhukov는 베이징에서 시작된 제1차 IOC조정위원회 방문 중 Vladimir Putin러시아대통령의 호출을 받고 대통령과의 핵심회의 참석 차 이틀을 빼먹고 회의기간 중간에 러시아로 급 귀국 하였다고 합니다.

러시아 Vladimir Region중심부에 위치한 Kovrov市에서 10월11일 열린 체육문화 스포츠 발전 대통령직속 상임위원회(the Presidential Council on Developing Physical Culture and Sports)직 후, Zhukov는 러시아 의회에서 자신에게 부여된 과업에 집중하기 위하여 ROC위원장 직을 떠날 것이라고 언급하였다고 합니다.

 

그는 2016년 12월 사임할 것으로 예상되며, 후임에는 올림픽 수영 2관왕이며 선수출신 IOC 직을 두 차례 역임한 Alexander Popov가 후임으로 선호되고 있는 것으로 알려지고 있다고 합니다.

 

이로 말미암아 IOC는 대회개막 5년 반을 앞둔 시점에서 베이징2022동계올림픽 IOC후임위원장을 선정해야만 하는 기로에 서게 되었는데 제2차 IOC조정위원회는 2017년 상반기에 예정되어 있는 상태라고 합니다.

(1) "The IOC takes these Coordination Commissions very, very seriously." (IOC는 이러한 조정위원회의 역할을 대단히 중대하게 여기고 있음)

(2) "We think it is an extraordinary tool for the success of the organisation of the Games, so if that news is confirmed I’m sure that the President Thomas Bach will make the right decisions and an immediate decision to appoint a new head of the Coordination Commission. 러시아 육상선수들이 국제대회 출전 금지조치를 불러 일으킨 러시아 도핑 스캔들 와중에 Zhukov의 베이징2022 IOC조정위원장 직 임명은 논란의 대상이 되는 선택으로 간주(considered a controversial choice as chair )되어왔습니다.

 

McLaren보고서 발행 파장으로 러시아선수들의 Rio2016올림픽 출전은 몇 몇 국제연맹에 의해 배제되도록 (opted to exclude athletes from Russia)제한된 바 있습니다.

 

Zhukov 는 지난 7월 Rio2016올림픽에 러시아 선수들 출전금지조치가 유예되었던 IOC대책회의에 참석하였던 바 있습니다.

Zhukov는 ROC위원장 자격으로 지난 2013년 Tokyo2020이 올림픽 개최도시로 선출되었던 부에노스아이레스 개최 제126차 IOC총회에서 IOC위원으로 선출된 바 있습니다.

 

Zhukov는 푸틴 러시아대통령의 핵심측근(a key ally)이며 2010년 ROC위원장으로 임명되었고 2014년 추가로 4년 연임된 바 있습니다.
