[前前 UN사무총장인 Kofi Annan 별세한 8월18일 IOC哀悼(애도) 메시지 및 올림픽 기(Olympic Flag)추모 반기(half-mast)게양 스케치]

 

 

IOC는 지난 2018년 8월18일, 前前 UN사무총장인 Kofi Annan의 슬픈 부고뉴스에 Kofi Annan가족 및 UN에게 哀悼(애도)를 표명하였다(extend its condolences)고 합니다

코피 아난(Kofi Annan)전전 UN사무총장은 재임 중 항상 올림픽운동과 아주 밀접한 관계를 유지하였으며 많은 세월 스포츠를 위한 서비스와 스포츠의 결집력을 옹호한 공적으로(for his many years of service to sport and for championing the unifying power of sport) 2007년 올림픽훈장금장(Olympic Order in Gold)을 수여 받은 바 있다고 합니다.

그는 또한 2015년 IOC본부 방문 시 Bach IOC위원장으로부터 훈장을 전수 받았다(He received the Order from President Bach when he visited the IOC headquarters in 2015)고 합니다.

다음은 Bach IOC위원장의 Kofi Annan을 기리는 회고 발언입니다:

A.  "Kofi Annan always supported the IOC and its mission throughout his time in office as United Nations Secretary General, and until very recently." (코피 아난은 UN사무총장으로써 재임기간 동안 그리고 아주 최근까지도 언제나 IOC와 IOC의 사명에 대해 성원하였음)

B.  "He played a very important role to help the IOC achieve Permanent Observer Status at the United Nations and was always ready to give very valuable advice. (그는 IOC가 UN에서 상임 옵저버 지위를 성취하도록 도와준 매우 중요한 역할을 수행해 주었으며 항상 매우 귀중한 충고를 줄 준비가 되어 있었음)

C.  The IOC and the entire Olympic Movement will always honour him as a true friend and great promoter of the Olympic values." (IOC와 전체 올림픽운동가족은 언제나 진정한 친구로서 그리고 올림픽가치 프로모터로서 예우할 것임)

 

Bach IOC위원장은 그를 추모하는 뜻에서 스위스 Lausanne IOC본부에 올림픽기를 반기로 게양할 것(the Olympic Flag to be flown at half-mast at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne in his memory)을 요청하였다고 합니다.

 

UN사무총장 재직 시 스포츠를 통한 세게 평화구현에 성원해 주신 故 Kofi Annan 前前 사무총장님의 삼가 명복을 빕니다.
