3월12일자 외신 보도 요약 본입니다.
1)영연방대회연맹(CGF: Commonwealth Games Federation)은 2023년 당초 호주 Victoria주 가 개최권을 포기한 2026년 영연방대회를 대신 떠맡기기로 결정된 말레이지아에게 1억 파운드를 보조금으로 제공하기로(offered Malaysia £100 million as a subsidy to take over the 2026 Commonwealth Games, abandoned last year by the Australian state of Victoria)제안하였다고 함. 말레이지아올림픽평의회(OCM: Olympic Council of Malaysia)는 말레이지아정부와 함께 대회 대체 개최에 따른 실익 성 검토에 들어갔다(A government study on the practicality of staging the event is underway)고 함.
(1)CGF가 보조금으로 제안한 보조금(1억 파운드) 규모는 호주 Victoria주가 대회 철회 벌금으로 지불한 액수인 US$2억 5천만불에 절반보다 조금 상회하는 금액(CGF offer of £100 million (about $128.1 million U.S.) represents a little more than half of the A$380 million (about $251.2 million) paid by the Australian state of Victoria after it abandoned the 2026 Commonwealth Games last year)이라고 함.
(2)말레이지아는 1998년 수도인 콸라룸푸르가 영연방대회를 이미 개최한 바 있으면 당시 15개 스포츠 종목에 313개 메달세부종목의 경기를 치른 바 있으며 최근 대회는 영국 Birmingham에서 개최 되었는바, 20개 종목 스포츠에 280개 메달세부종목에 사상 최대규모인 5,054명이 참가하였다고 함
2)세계도핑방지기구(WADA)는 Paris 2024올림픽참가가 허용된 러시아와 벨라루스 선수들에 대한 우려를 재차 제기하였는데 특히 프랑스를 벗어난 곳에서 열리는 서핑 종목에 출전하게 될 경기를 포함하여 도핑 검사는 지속적으로 시행하기로 약속하였다(reiterated its concerns over Russian and Belarusian athletes allowed to participate at Paris 2024, promising to continue testing, especially at competitions attended outside of the country)고 함
3)다음 주(3월18일~23일) 예정된 Brisbane 2032올림픽 인프라 지출에 대한 호주정부 보고(a government report on Brisbane 2032 infrastructure spending due next week)와 맞물려, 호주수영연맹(Swimming Australia)은 국가수영센터를 선호하여 백지화된 바 있는 신설수영장을 살려 공공기금으로 조성되는 새로운 수영장 건립 계획을 요청하고(Swimming Australia asks for the planned new, publicly-funded arena to be scrapped in favor of a national swimming center)있다고 함
(1)IOC는 향후 올림픽개최도시들이 가능한 신설 경기장을 극소화하기를 강력 선호하는 가운데 Brisbane에 Gabba 스타디움(The Gabba stadium)보수공사에 수 조원의 경비를 담은 Queensland주 정부의 제안이 다음 주로 예정된 前 Brisbane시장인 Graham Quirk와 함께 독자적인 검토위원회의 보고서에 따르면 폐기될 것으로 예상되고(The Queensland government’s proposal for a multi-billion-dollar refurbishment of The Gabba stadium in Brisbane is now expected to be abandoned, with a report from former Mayor Graham Quirk and an independent review committee due next week)있다고 함
(2)Brisbane2032계획에는 “Brisbane Arena”로 현재 명명된 새로운 실내 시설인데 구 시설 보수를 전제로 공공기금으로 17,000석 규모로 콘서트와 스포츠겸용시설로 Brisbane중심부에 임시 수영 풀과 함께 건립되어 향후에도 두각을 나타낼 것(a publicly-funded, 17,000-seat venue for concerts and sports, to be built in downtown Brisbane above the Roma Street transit station. Swimming would be held there with temporary pools, and be a highlight venue for the 2032 Games and beyond)으로 알려졌는데 호주수영연맹은 동 시설로는 호주 수영에 도움이 되지 않는다고 주장하면서 새로운 영구적인 수영장시설을 건립할 것을 새롭게 다시 촉구하고(renewed calls for the Games to deliver a new permanent aquatic facility)있다고 함
(3)신설 수영장에 대한 요청사항으로는 2개의 50m 실내 풀장과 가변식 차단 벽과 1개의 25m 연습용 풀장, 경기운영실과 탈의실, 체육관, 사무실 및 대회 후 6천석 규모의 관람석을 갖춘 새로운 경기장(a new venue with two 50 m indoor pools with movable bulkheads and a 25 m training pool, competition and changing rooms, a gymnasium, offices and post-Games seating for 6,000 spectators)이 포함되어 있다고 함
4) 2027년 범미주대회(Pan American Games 2027)개최지가 지난 3월12일 열린 PASO(Pan American ports Organization)임시총회(대부분 온라인 참석)에서 페루의 Lima가 파라과이의 Asuncion과의 표 대결에서 28-24로 승리하여 개최도시로 확정되었다고 함
(PASO/현재 Panam Sports회장인 칠레 IOC위원 Neven Ilic이 투표결과 Lima로 결정되었음을 발표하고 있음)
(1)이번 개최지 선거는 당초 개최 도시였던 콜롬비아의 Barranquilla를 대체할 개최지를 선출하는 것이었는데 수 차례의 소통 마감일 위반과 대회개최비미납 등의 사유로 Panam Sports가 지난 1월 콜롬비아 Barranquilla에서의 대회개최권을 박탈하기로 결정하고 3월12일 페루 Lima로 결정한 것임
