[평창2018 대회총평과 공로치하 IOC위원장 올림픽훈장수여 현장스케치]
Thomas Bach IOC위원장은 오늘(2월26일)아침 진부면 월정사 입구에 위치한 Kensington Flora 호텔에서 가진 IOC주최 “Thank you Breakfast” 석상에서 평창2018 조직위원회 지휘부 4명에게 올림픽훈장을 수여하였습니다.
어젯밤(2월25일) 환상적인(spectacular) 평창2018 폐회식은 환상적인 경기장에서(in fantastic venues) 16일간 뛰어난 기량을 겨루는 동계스포츠열전의 화룡점정 이었던 셈입니다.
또한 평창2018은 “올림픽운동과 대한민국에 수많은 새로운 기회의 창을 활짝 열어 준 것”(Games that have opened up numerous new opportunities for the Olympic Movement and the Republic of Korea)이라고 IOC는 평가하였습니다.
Thomas Bach IOC위원장은 “평창2018 동계올림픽은 ‘새로운 지평의 대회’(the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 are the Games of New Horizons)라고 축약하여 총평 한 셈입니다.
오늘 아침 Bach IOC위원장은 평창2018조직위원회 관계자들을 위한 ‘감사조찬’(Thank you breakfast)을 주최하였으며 이 조찬은 조직위원회 관계자들에게 대회조직운영의 품격(the quality of the Games’ organization)에 대하여 올림픽운동전체의 감사(the Olympic Movement’s gratitude)를 표명하기 위한 것이라고 합니다

다음은 Bach IOC위원장의 감사조찬 메시지 주요발언내용입니다:
A. “You presented us and the world with outstanding Olympic Winter Games.” (여러분은 우리와 전 세계에 탁월한 동계올림픽을 선사해 주었음)
B. “We had an Olympic atmosphere as you could not have better imagined. (여러분이 상상하기에 더 이상 좋을 수 없을 정도로 우리는 올림픽분위기를 만끽하였음)

금일 아침 감사조찬 모임에서는 올림픽훈장 금장(Olympic Order in gold)는 이희범 POCOG조직위원장에게 수여 되었으며, 올림픽훈장(은 장/ in silver)은 여형구 PCOOG 사무총장과 김재열 국제부위원장 및 김주호 기획홍보부위원장 3명에게 각각 수여되었습니다.
Gunilla Lindberg IOC조정위원장은 축하연설을 통하여 다음과 같이 치하하였습니다:
A. “The Korean combination of pragmatism, determination and commitment to Olympism has worked wonders” (실용주의와 결단력 및 올림피즘에 대한 약속이행이 한데 어우러진 한국적 콤비네이션 합작품이 놀라운 기적적인 성공을 이루어 내었음)
B. “Together, these qualities guaranteed the success of the Games.” (이러한 탁월한 자질들이 합쳐져서 대회의 성공을 보장해 준 것임)
C. “PyeongChang 2018 will forever be remembered for sporting excellence and for the efficiency mixed with kindness.” (평창2018은 스포츠를 탁월한 경지에 올려놓았으며 친절함과 결합된 효율성의 극대화를 이룬 대회로 영원히 기억될 것임)
또한 Bach IOC위원장은 동계국제연맹들의 대회지원에 대하여 감사하면서 “여러분들은 항상 POCOG과 IOC편에서 협력하였으며 이러한 여러분 모두의 노고에 감사 드리는 바임” (You have always been on the side of POCOG and the IOC. Thank you for all your efforts)이라고 치하하였습니다.
평창2018대회는 수 천명에 달하는 선수들이 뛰어난 경기력을 유감 없이 발휘하여 보여줌으로써(with exceptional performances) 전 세계를 감동시키고 (inspiring the world) 세계신기록과 올림픽신기록 그리고 개인선수 별 최고기록(personal bests)이 수립되었으며, 탁월한 스포츠맨십의 순간들과 훌륭한 경기장에서의 위대한 감동을 선사하였다고 이희범 위원장은 답사를 통해 언급하였습니다
