2019년 6월23일 올림픽의 날(Olympic day)에 개장식을 갖게 될(The official inauguration of Olympic House will take place on Olympic Day, 23 June 2019) IOC신축본부건물이 세계에서 가장 지속가능성이 높은 빌딩 군 중(one of the most sustainable buildings in the world)에 포함되었다고 합니다.
IOC신축본부는 Olympic House라고 명명하는데 가장 내구성이 견고한 빌딩으로 평가 받는 3개의 인증 증명서까지 수여 받음(received three of the most rigorous sustainable building certifications)으로써 세계에서 가장 내구성이 높은 건물들 중 하나로 자리매김(It has therefore become one of the most sustainable buildings in the world))하였다고 합니다
3개의 인증서들 중 하나인 LEED Platinum증명서는 국제 LEED녹색빌딩 프로그램의 최고 인증서인데 LEED를 개발한 미국 Green Building Council(USGBC)에 따르면, 올림픽하우스는 LEED v4-증명(verified)신축 건물프로젝트들 중 지금까지 최고점인 93점을 획득하였다고 합니다
전 세계 175개국 및 지역(territories)에 걸쳐 등록되고 인증된(registered and certified) 98,000점 이상의 프로젝트들을 대상으로, LEED(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design/에너지 및 환경 디자인 선두표식)는 전 세계에서 가장 광범위하게 사용되는 녹색빌딩 프로그램이며 지속가능성 탁월함을 나타내 주는 국제적 상징(an international symbol of sustainability excellence)입니다.
따라서 LEED란 해당건축물이 지속 가능한 실제적 관례를 최우선시하고 보다 건강한 환경을 창출하는 반면(while prioritising sustainable practices and creating a healthier environment) 탄소배출 감소(lowering carbon emissions)과 지원보존(conserving resources)을 염두에 두고 있음을 나타내는 것입니다.
LEED((Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design/에너지 및 환경 디자인 선두표식) Platinum등급은 최상급 인증수준(the highest level of certification possible )임을 증명해 주는 것 입니다

LEED Platinum인증(certification)이외에도, 올림픽하우스(IOC본부)는 스위스 지속가능성 건설표준(SNBS: Swiss Sustainable Construction Standard)의 최상급(Platinum)수준임을 증명해 준 첫 번째 국제본부(the first international headquarters)이며 전 세계 통틀어 2번째 빌딩(the second building overall)이 되었다고 합니다.
올림픽하우스는 에너지효율빌딩 스위스표준(Swiss standard of energy0efficient buildings)인 Minergie P를 수여 받았다고 합니다.
올림픽하우스는 3가지 인증을 모두 획득한 첫 번째 빌딩이며 스위스에서 LEED v4 Platinum을 성취한 첫 번째 빌딩이라고 합니다
다음은 Thomas Bach IOC위원장의 관련 발언내용입니다:
A. “We are proud that Olympic House, as the new home of the Olympic Movement, has received such prestigious Swiss and international certifications, recognising our strong commitment to sustainability, which is one of the three pillars of Olympic Agenda 2020.” (우리는 올림픽어젠더2020 3개 중심축 중 하나인 지속가능성에 대한 강력한 공약을 인지하면서 올림픽운동의 새로운 보금자리로써의 올림픽하우스가 영예로운 스위스 및 국제인증서를 취득하게 된 것에 대해 자부심을 느끼는 바임)
B. “From the very beginning of the original architecture competition all the way through to construction, energy management and furnishings, the IOC focused very much on sustainable solutions. 3XN+ IttenBrechbühl 건축설계업체가 디자인한 Lausanne에 소재한 올림픽하우스는 이제 IOC전 직원을 한 지붕아래 함께 근무하도록 보금자리를 마련해 줄 것(bring all the IOC staff under one roof)입니다.
신축 올림픽하우스 빌딩에서는 글로벌 올림픽운동 구성원들의 만남의 장소(a meeting place for the global Olympic Movement)역할을 할 것입니다.
올림픽하우스는 지속가능성, 운영상의 효율성, 및 지역경제와 발전을 위해 민간투자로 이루진 결실(a privately-funded investment in sustainability, operational efficiency, and the local economy and development )입니다
올림픽하우스건물의 형태는 선수동작에 영감을 받은 모티브로 디자인되었는데(With its shape inspired by the movement of an athlete), 올림픽하우스는 지속가능성에 총체적인 접근을 염두에 두고 건축설계디자인에 있어서 최고등급표준을 결합한 (combines the highest standards in architectural design with a holistic approach to sustainability)작품입니다.

올림픽하우스에 투자한 예산의80%가 지역경제를 위해 소비되었으며(spent locally) 이전 IOC본부건물의 95%이상이 재 사용 또는 재활용(reused or recycled)되었다고 합니다
태양열 패널(solar panels) 및 인근 제네바후수로부터 끌어 온 물을 사용하는(using water from nearby Lake Geneva) 열 펌프(heat pumps)는 올림픽하우스빌딩에 재생에너지를 공급하게 되는데(provide renewable energy to the building), 기존 신축건축물보다 35%에 해당하는 에너지 절감효과와 60% 시 공급 물 사용절감 효과가 기대되고(expected to use 35 per cent less energy and 60 per cent less municipal water than a conventional new construction) 있다고 합니다.
올림픽하우스 프로젝트는 지역당국, 지역 공급업체, 지역 학자들 및 IOC마케팅 상업적 파트너들과의 전례 없는 협업으로(involved unprecedented collaboration between local authorities, suppliers, academics and the IOC’s commercial partners) 이루어졌다고 합니다.
예를 들면 전 세계올림픽파트나 사인 Dow는 빌딩건축설계 및 환경분야 개선 해법을 제시(provided solutions to enhance the building’s architecture and environmental performance)하였다고 합니다.
또한 IOC의 공식 탄소 파트너(Official Carbon Partner)로서 Dow는 글로벌 탄소완화프로그램(a global carbon mitigation program)을 제공하였는데, 올림픽하우스빌딩 건축 및 2020까지 빌딩관리 등과 연관하여 이미 탄소 배출 권을 보상하여(compensated the carbon emissions associated with the construction of the building and its operations until 2020) 주기도 하였다고 합니다
IOC전 세계 기동성분야 파트너 사(Worldwide Mobility Partner)인 Toyota자동차그룹은 가스배출 제로 수소자동차(zero-emission hydrogen cars)를 전달하였으며, 일본의 IOC 전 세계 전자제품 파트너 사인 Panasonic기업은 원격 및 현장 회의용 시청각기재를 공급하여(supplied the audio-visual equipment needed to support remote and on-site meetings) 주었다고 합니다.
지속가능성 개념은 올림픽운동의 미래를 향한 전략적 로드맵(the strategic roadmap for the future of the Olympic Movement)인 올림픽 어젠더가 지향하는 3개 중심 축을 형성하는 구성철학(Sustainability is one of the three pillars of Olympic Agenda )이며, IOC는 조직차원과 올림픽대회조직의 주체차원과 올림픽운동의 리더 차원에서 자체운영시스템 전반에 걸쳐 이러한 원칙들을 내장내지 장착하기로 공약하고(committed to embedding its principles across its operations: as an organisation, as the owner of the Olympic Games and as the leader of the Olympic Movement) 있는 상황입니다.
