1)3월11일자 외신보도에 따르면 올림픽대회조직위원회 준비사항 점검을 위해 통상 7번 방문하는 IOC조정위원회(위원장: Pierre-Olivier Beckers-Vieujant(BEL)가 3월8일 7번째 최종방문회의(3일간)을 마치고 Paris 2024올림픽준비상황 전반에 대한 최종 결론으로 대회 준비가 순조롭다(the event is in good hands and on track)고 내렸다고 함.
(1)Pierre-Olivier Beckers-Vieujant IOC조정위원장은“모든 것이 선명함, 모든 것이 정확하고 구체적이며 정확하고 조직위원회 팀 전체가 일사분란하게 조직위원장인 Tony Estanguet와 사무총장인 Etienne Thobois를 중심으로 똘똘 뭉쳐 완전 가동되고 있음(Nothing is vague, everything is precise, concrete, accurate, and all the teams working with [President] Tony [Estanguet] and [chief executive] Etienne [Thobois] are fully mobilized. …) “사람들은 대회가 임박했음을 느낄 수 있을 정도임. 우리는 올림픽 개최 청사진이 훌륭하다는 것을 확인하였지만 이제 기어를 높여 전진할 적기임”(People can feel that the Games are just around the corner. … We have confirmed that the blueprint for this Olympic Games is great, but it is high time to move up a gear) 라고 평가함
(2)그는 앞으로 15개의 테스트이벤트를 더 치러야 하며 45,000명에 달하는 자원봉사자들 훈련도 병행해야 함. “작업량이 지대함” (15 test events are still to come, along with the training for 45,000 volunteers: “it’s a huge workload.”_이라고 덧붙였다고 함
(3)Estanguet Paris 2024조직위원장은 개회식이 7월26일 오후 7:30분(Paris현지시간)에 시작되며 일몰 시간이 저녁 9:36분이므로 우리는 자연 광을 최대한 활용하기를 원함(As for the historic opening on the Seine River, Estanguet confirmed that the ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. Paris time: “We want to make the most of the natural light,” as sunset will be at 9:36 p.m.)이라고 설명함
(4)그는 지금까지 880만장의 입장권이 판매되었으며 자원봉사자 신청자수가 예상을 훨씬 상회하고 있다(8.8 million tickets have been sold and the number of applications for volunteer positions was well beyond expectations)고 보고함
(5)Beckers-Vieujant IOC조정위원장은 러시아와 벨라루스 선수들의 Paris 2024올림픽 참가 금지 여부에 대한 질문에 대하여 “오늘 현재 이것은 해당되지 않는 사항인데 대회참가가 허용된 러시아와 벨라루스 여권소지선수들에 대하여 개회식 참가가 금지되지 않음”(Today, this is not the case. So the athletes who have a Russian or a Belarus passport that will be participating in the Games are not banned from participating in the opening ceremony.) “이 주제에 대한 확고한 결정이 내려지지 않고 있음. 따라서 3월19일~21일 개최예정인 IOC집행위원회가 이 문제를 검토할 것임”(No firm decision has been made regarding this topic. So the Executive Board will have to review this at the next meeting [19-21 March])
(6)IOC는 보도자료를 통하여 3월5일 현재 10,500명 총 참가 선수들 중 선수 쿼터의 55%인 5,779명에게 할당되었음(nearly 55 per cent of the athlete quota places now allocated – to 5,779 athletes)이라고 밝혔다고 함
2)프랑스 노조의 압력에 프랑스 변혁 및 공공 행정장관(French Minister for Transformation and Public Administration)은 Paris 2024올림픽 기간 중 공공 근로자들에게 500~1,500유로씩 보너스 지불과 추가로 어린이 돌봄 지원할 것임을 약속하였다(promised public workers Games-time bonuses of €500-1,500, with added support for child care for those affected)고 함. 프랑스 정부는 문제의 소지가 될만한 특이한 이벤트에 대하여 집중조명하도록 고안된 AI지원 정찰프로젝트 테스트에 성공하였다고 함(The government has also successfully tested an artificial-intelligence-aided surveillance project designed to highlight unusual events that could become problems.)
