E.  "If we can accommodate some of the neighbouring countries in the gulf region which are very close by to host a few games in the World Cup, this could be very beneficial for the region and the entire world. F.  "There are tensions in this particular region and it's up to their respective leaders to deal with that but maybe it's easier to talk about a joint football project than more complicated things. Infantino FIFA회장은 카타르자체만으로 48개국 출전 팀을 모두 수용할 수 없을 것이므로 다른 인접국가들도 참여하여 게임을 소화해 낼 필요가 있을 것(unable to host 48 teams on their own, hence the need for other nations to stage games) 이라고 언급하였다고 합니다.

 

하지만 사우디, UAE, 바레인과 이집트를 포함한 많은 국가들이 Qatar가 테러리즘 지원혐의로 인해 모든 외교적 관계를 단절해 오고 있는(severed all diplomatic ties due to Qatar's alleged support for terrorism) 상황입니다.

 

카타르 관계자들은 이와 관련하여 잘못을 저지른 바 없다고 부인하고 있다(Qatari officials have denied wrongdoing)고 합니다.

 

 

지난 2018년 6월 러시아개최 2018년FIFA월드컵 토너먼트에 앞서 Moscow에서 열린 바 있는FIFA총회 안건에는 2022년 FIFA월드컵 48개국 출전 관련 내용은 포함되어 있지 않았었다(taken off the agenda of the FIFA Congress in Moscow) 고 합니다

 

Infantino FIFA회장은 2022년 FIFA월드컵 개최국의 동 사안 지지계획이 수반되어야만 진행 할 수 있다(only proceed with the plan with the support of the host nation )고 밝혔다고 합니다.

 

그는 211개 FIFA전 회원국으로 구성된 FIFA총회보다는 FIFA이사회가 동 사안에 대한 최종결정을 내리게 될 것(the ruling Council would make the final decision on the matter)이라고 덧붙여 언급하였다고 합니다

 

2022년 FIFA월드컵 개최국인 카타르는 현재 8개 축구스타디움을 건설 중(building eight stadiums for 2022)이라고 합니다.

 

 

비평가들은 48개국 출전 토너먼트는 너무 방대하고 축구경기 수준이 저하되는(could lead to a lower standard of football) 상황으로 전개될 수 있으며 FIFA가 돈에 집착하는 방향으로 동기부여가 되고 있다는 비판을 받게 될 것(with FIFA accused of being motivated by money)이라고 주장하고 있다고 합니다.
