[Bach IOC위원장, Santiago 2023범미주대회(Pan Am Games)참관 후 칠레에게 향후(2036년)올림픽유치권고하다]

 

10월23일 외신이 전하는 바에 따르면 칠레의 수도 Santiago개최 2023년 범미주대회(Pan American Games)의 성공적인 출발을 목격한 후 향후 칠레가 올림픽유치에 대한 구상을 해 볼 것(to start thinking about bidding the Olympic games)을 권유하였다고 합니다.

 

 

 

 

 

Bach IOC위원장은 개회식 관람 후 Santiago를 떠나기 전 대회이벤트조직에 대하여 치하하였다고 합니다.

 

Bach IOC위원장은 제141차 IOC총회가 개최된 인도 Mumbai를 떠나 곧바로 Santiago2023 Pan Am 게임 개회식에 맞춰 칠레에 도착하였으며 PanAm스포츠기구회장인 Neven Ilic회장이 함께 동행하였다고 합니다.

 

그는 몇 개의 경기장을 시찰하였으며 10월21일 특히 대회선수촌에 대하여 감명을 받았다고 합니다.

다음은 Bach IOC위원장의 선수촌방문소감 발언 내용입니다:

 

"The athletes are very happy with this Village and that is the most important thing, not what I or anyone else thinks," Bach said.

"This is a space for competitors and what I have been able to see this morning is that they are extremely happy with the conditions that are offered.

"We have nothing to complain about.

"Everything has been working very well.

"You see a very functional Village.

"Volunteers who are very friendly and efficient.

“You see that in the venues everything has worked according to schedule.

"According to what I have been able to experience since Friday, all the lights are green for an excellent Pan American Games in Santiago 2023.

"My advice would be that once we finish these Games successfully, they should begin to set the next goal.

"And among them could be the Olympic Games or other events of this nature."

서울1988올림픽 육상 장대높이뛰기 금메달리스트 겸 우크라이나 IOC위원인 Sergey Bubka 역시 대회조직운영에 대하여 칭송하였다고 합니다.

 

 

Bach IOC위원장은 Santiago방문기간 동안 중미 및 카리브 스포츠 기구(Central American and Caribbean Sports Organization)회장 겸 도미니카 IOC위원인 Luis Mejía Oviedo도 면담하였다고 합니다.

 

 

Oviedo는 Mumbai개최 IOC총회에서 Bach IOC위원장이 12년 임기 후에도 계속 IOC위원장직을 수행해 줄 것을 촉구한 IOC위원들 중 한 명인데 현행 올림픽헌장규정에 따르면 최대12년 임기 후인 2025년에 Bach IOC위원장은 물러나도록 되어 있습니다.

Bach IOC위원장은 Santiago를 떠나 우루과이 NOC(COU)창립100주년기념식 참가 차 우루과이의 수도 Montevideo에 체류 중입니다.

 

그는 Bach IOC위원장의 참석이 10월26일 COU 창설100주년기념 행사의 하이라이트가 될 것임을 희망하고 있는 Julio César Maglione COU위원장의 초청을 수락하였다고 합니다.

 

Bach IOC위원장은 COU100주년기념행사참석 외에 우루과이 대통령인 Luis Lacalle Pou와 10월23일 만나고 24일까지 Montevideo에 머물 것으로 예상되고 있다고 합니다.

 

우루과이 대통령인 Luis Lacalle Poud은 Bach IOC위원장에게 칠레 명예시민증을 수여하고 Gala Dinner에 초대할 것이라고 합니다.
