6월4일 한 외신 기사제목은 “평창2018 조직위원장, 동계올림픽에서 수 백만 달러 흑자 달성 주장하다”(Pyeongchang 2018 President claims multi-million dollar surplus achieved for Winter Olympics)였습니다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

평창2018 이희범동계올림픽조직위원장은 6월4일 2018년동계올림픽에서 수 백만 달러 흑자를 성취하였다(this year’s Winter Olympic Games achieved a multi-million dollar surplus)고 주장한 것으로 외신이 보도하고 있습니다,

 

이위원장은 2022년 동계올림픽 및 패럴림픽 개최도시인 Beijing에서 열리고 있는 2018년 De-brief회의 개회 연설에서 이 같이 이야기 하였다고 합니다.

 

그의 주장은 IOC입장으로는 환영 받을 만 한 것인데, IOC는 대회재정정산서류가 공식적으로 완료될 때 여전히 흑자가 발생할 수 있었으면 하는 희망을 발표했던 적(had expressed hope that there could still be a surplus when books are officially closed) 이 있다고 합니다.

 

다음은 이위원장의 Debrief개회 동안 발표한 발언 내용입니다:

 

A.  "I can proudly tell you that Pyeongchang 2018 has achieved a multi-million dollar surplus." (나는 평창2018대회가 수 백만 달러의 흑자를 성취하였음을 여러분에게 자랑스럽게 말 할 수 있음)

 

B.  "We are now putting together the final figures which will be released by sometime in June.(우리는 6월 중 발표될 최종수치를 집계하고 있는 중임)

 

C.  "But with close cooperation with the Korean Government and the IOC, we achieved the surplus from the some $300 million (£225 million/€256 million) deficit from when I become the President two years ago." (하지만 한국정부와 IOC와의 긴밀한 협조와 더불어, 내가 2년 전 조직위원장 취임 당시 약 3억 달러<3,100억원> 정도의 적자로부터 흑자를 이룩한 것임)

 

 

이위원장은 대회흑자는 IOC가 추진한 올림픽운동 미래의 전략적 로드맵(the strategic road-map for the future of the Olympic Movement)인 Olympic Agenda 2020덕분에 성취되었다고 거듭 주장하였다고 합니다

 

 

추가세부정보를 묻는 질문에 평창2018대변인은 “아직 마무리과정에 있으므로 구체적인 수치는 발표하고 있지 않으며” (We are not announcing the specific figure because we are still in the process of closing) “수치들은 추후 확인될 때 발표될 것이다”(The figures will be announced when confirmed later on)고 답변하였다고 합니다.

IOC 관계자들은 한국측 조직위관계자들이 아직 설명되지 않고 있는 상태인 평창2018 대회 3개경기장 사후활용계획 마무리작업을 지속적으로 모니터링 할 것임(constantly monitor South Korean organisers in the finalising of post-Games plans at three Pyeongchang 2018 venues still unaccounted for)을 주장해 온 바 있습니다

 

 

지금까지 정선 알파인 센터와 함께 강릉하키센터 및 스피드스케이트 경기장인 강릉 오벌(Oval) 등 3군데에 대한 유산계획이 없는 상태(no legacy plans are in place)라고 합니다.

 

 

Christophe Dubi IOC올림픽 수석국장은 지난 5월 초 IOC집행위원회 첫날 회의 에서 유산계획이 논의된 바 있다고 주장하였다고 합니다

 

Dubi 수석국장은 평창2018의 나머지 9개 경기장에 대한 계획은 이행될 것임(the plans for the remaining nine venues will be followed through)에 신뢰감을 표명하기(expressed confidence)도 하였다고 합니다

 

 

그는 다른 IOC관계자들과 나란히 평창2018의 성공에 대하여 홍보하는데 필사적이었다(desperate to publicise the success of Pyeongchang 2018)고 합니다.

 

 

그들은 평창2018의 당초 예산액인 US$19억불(약2조원)에서 US$24억불(약 2조 5천원대)로 증액되었지만(even though this marks an increase on the initial budget of $1.9 billion (£1.4 billion/€1.6 billion) 균형 운영예산 실행에 대해 찬사를 보냈다(praised the "balanced" operational budget)고 합니다

 

 

Dubi 수석국장은 인프라비용으로 산정되어야 했던 액수가 운영비항목으로 추가경비예산US$4억불이 전환됨으로 인해 당초예산액과의 차이를 설명한 것(the shift of $400 million (£299 million/€341 million) extra costs from the infrastructural to the operational budget explained the difference)이라고 주장하였다고 합니다.
