[패럴림픽 2017년 제3대 IPC위원장 9월8일 브라질 출신후보 Parsons선출]

1) 브라질출신 후보였던 Andrew Parsons가 2017년 9월8일(금) 개최 2017년도 IPC총회에서 신임IPC위원장으로 선출됨
2) Parsons는 16년동안 권좌를 지켰던 Sir Philip Craven 제2대 IPC회장 임기만료와 함께 그의 뒤를 이어 IPC 제3대 위원장이 됨
3) Parsons후보는 1차 투표에서 84표를 획득하여 요구되는 절대 과반수(the required absolute majority)인 82표보다 2표 많은 84표를 얻어 1라운드에서 승리자가 되었음
4) 중국출신 후보인 Zhang Haidi는 47표로 2위, 덴마크출신 John Petersson 후보가 19표 그리고 캐나다출신 Patrick Jarvis후보가 12표를 각각 획득한 바 있음

F. "This is probably the happiest day of my life after the birth of my daughter and the day I got married with Marcela. (내 딸아이를 생산한 이후 그리고 내 아내 Marcela와 결혼한 이후 아마도 오늘이 내 생애 가장 행복한 날임)

"After 20 years in this movement, it's amazing to be elected President of this incredible organisation - an organisation that has come a long way facing many different difficult issues - but we are stronger than ever. (패럴림픽 운동참여 20년만에 많은 색다른 어려운 현안들에 직면하면서 오랜 세월을 지켜낸 이렇게 훌륭한 단체의 수장으로 선출된 것은 놀라운 일이지만 우리는 그 전부다 더 강력해 진 것임)

7) Zhao Su-jing 중국 장애인연맹 스포츠국장은 투표결과에 대하여 의의를 제기(항소/lodged an appeal against the results) IPC변호사드로 하여금 투표결과를 조사할 것을 요청했던 것으로 알려짐)
8) 하지만 이러한 항소요청은 즉시 IPC에 의해 기각되었다고 함(It was quickly turned down, however, by the IPC.)

A. "We have confirmed with our legal counsel and we have determined that the results are final and that all of the voting procedures were followed." (법률 자문변호사와 확인한 바 있으며 투표결과가 최종적인 것으로 결정하였고 모든 투표절차가 규정대로 진행되었음)
