방콕의 2030 청소년올림픽 (YOG)유치 도전은 마치 한 편의 드라마처럼 전개되고 있습니다.
태국은 IOC 대표단의 방문을 앞두고 숨 가쁘게 준비에 박차를 가하고 있습니다. 국가올림픽위원회와 스포츠 청(SAT: Sports Authority of Thailand)은 경기장 마스터플랜, 교통·인프라, 운영 계획, 거버넌스까지 모든 요소를 점검하며 “청소년을 영감으로, 아시아를 연결한다” (Embodying the vision 'Inspiring Youth, Connecting Southeast Asia and Asia', the YOG bid will link sport, education, culture and urban life)는 비전을 내세웠습니다.

Bangkok 2030 bid intensifies
Thailand stepped up preparations for the International Olympic Committee's visit next week, with the Asian sports governing bodies meeting last week to review the planning behind hosting the Youth Olympic Games.
The National Olympic Committee and the Sports Authority assessed all aspects of the bid, including the venue masterplan, infrastructure and transport systems, operational planning, and governance structures. Embodying the vision 'Inspiring Youth, Connecting Southeast Asia and Asia', the YOG bid will link sport, education, culture and urban life.
The capital is positioned as the main host city, with competition clusters centred on Hua Mak Sports Complex and Chulalongkorn University, while Chon Buri is proposed for coastal and outdoor sports.
Pimol Srivikorn, president of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand, believes that the nation is presenting a strong and credible bid. "We are committed to presenting a powerful vision to the IOC to deliver an outstanding Youth Olympic Games." IOC member and President of the Badminton World Federation, Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, added that Thailand aims to inspire young people worldwide.
"Our ambition is to deliver a meaningful and memorable experience, fully aligned with the values of the Olympic Movement," she said.
The 'Land of Smiles' has welcomed major international competitions, including the FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League, Asian Beach Games, and last December, hosted the Southeast Asian Games. While the event was threatened by major floods, organisers acted quickly and were able to relocate events to other venues for the participants' safety and its Main Press Centre was praised by attending media figures.
"Building on the success of the SEA Games, hosting the Youth Olympic Games would be an important opportunity for Thailand to showcase its capability to stage a world-class event, while giving Thai athletes the chance to compete in front of the Thai public," explained Preecha Laloon, deputy governor of SAT.
The IOC delegation is scheduled to visit Thailand from 27–30 April as part of the Targeted Dialogue process, which will inform the selection of the host city in June. The dedicated YOG Working Group will select the host, as well as look into the potential and relevance of the Games for young athletes to improve on future editions. Other contenders for the coveted hosting opportunity include Asunción, Paraguay and Santiago, Chile.
"The strong interest in the 2030 edition from new regions of the world demonstrates the value that potential hosts see in the Youth Olympic Games," Danka Hrbeková, the working group's chair, noted in December.
