1)스포츠중재재판소(CAS: Court of Arbitration for Sport)는 129분량의 완결된결정문 발행을 통해 Beijing2022동계올림픽 러시아 여자 피겨메달리스트인 Kamila Valieve선수의 도핑 항소(doping appeal) 대하여 그녀에서 검출된 금지 약물인 trimetazidine 사용은 WADA가 의미하는 맥락에서 “의도적인”(intentional)것이지만 그녀를 “거짓말쟁이”(cheater)라고 낙인 찍지 않기 위하여 조심스러운 모습(finding that her use of trimetazidine was “intentional” within the meaning of the World Anti-Doping Code, but was careful not to brand her as a “cheater.”)을 보였음. CAS는 유리잔이 오염이 되었다거나 그녀 조부가 음용했던 디저트에서 기인한 것이라는 첫 번째 방어 발언을 기각하였고(rejected her primary defense of contamination from a glass or a dessert from her grandfather) 그녀의 샘플을 검사한 스톡홀름 실험실에서 조사 지연에 대하여서도 설명(also explained the delay at the Stockholm lab which processed her sample)하였음
2)Ms. Valeva에 대한 자격정지시한은 2021년 12월25일부터 4년 간 임(A period of four (4) years ineligibility is imposed on Ms Valieva, starting on 25 December 2021.)
3)CAS 판결문에 따르면 “Ms.Valieva 의 모든 경기 결과는 실격 처리되며 모든 타이틀, 시상 메달, 수익 혜택 및 출연료 도 박탈됨”(All competitive results of Ms Valieva from 25 December 2021 are disqualified, with all the resulting consequences (including forfeiture of any titles, awards, medals, profits, prizes, and appearance money)
4)판결에 따른 결과로는 Valieva가 쇼트 프로그램과 프리 스케이트에서 획득한 러시아의 Beijing2022동계올림픽 피겨스케이팅 단체전 경기에서 획득한 금메달 실격처리가 예상됨 (The impact will be to disqualify Russia from its gold-medal performance in the Figure Skating Team Event at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing (CHN), where Valieva won both the Short Program and the Free Skate.)

7)Paris경시청장(the head of the Paris Police)은 인터뷰에서 Paris2024올림픽 및 패럴림픽과 관련되 여러 개 지역에 접근제약조치가 취해 질 것(there will be access restrictions in several areas related to the Olympic and Paralympic Game)이지만 행사기간 중 약간의 의전 조치는 가미하면서 숙박시설은 일상과 같이 허용될 것(accommodations have been made to allow life to go on – with some added protocols – during the event periods)임을 확인하였음. 하지만 대회기간 중 일상이 정상적으로 움직이지는 않을(things will not be normal) 전망이라고 함
8)미국도핑방지기구 수장(head of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency)은 노르웨이 개최 한 회의에서 25년 전 세계도핑방지기구의 경우와 같이 전세계에 걸쳐 스포츠를 위한 범죄방지기구 설립의 필요성(an “anti-crime” agency for sports needs to be set on a worldwide basis, as was the World Anti-Doping Agency 25 years ago)을 언급하였음. 범죄에 대한 형사집행프로젝트가 어떻게 작동될지 여부는 미정 임에도 불구하고 학대 이슈들과 경기조작행위가 만연해 지고 있으며 이에 대한 독자적인 대응책 마련이 될 필요가 있다(Issues of abuse and competition manipulation are growing and need to be independently addressed, although how a criminal enforcement project would work is unknown)고 언급함
9)ESPN, FOX, Warner Bros. 및 Discovery가 운영하고 있는 스포츠 TV 14개 채널을 단일 스트리밍을 적용하여 대 개편을 실시하자는 방안이 2월6일(화)발표되었으며 월 US$40~50불 (약 5만~6만원) 사용료가 책정될 것(A major shake-up in sports television in the U.S. was announced Tuesday, with 14 channels from ESPN, FOX and Warner Bros. Discovery to be combined into a single streaming application, possibly costing $40-50 a month) 으로 보임. 하지만 IOC에 상당 금액의 미국지역 독점방영권을 보우하고 있는 NBC가 대부분 점유하고 있는 올림픽스포츠와 종목에는 적게 영향을 미칠 것(But Olympic sports and events are likely to be little impacted as NBC has most of them)으로 보임. 그렇지만 이러한 이벤트들에 대한 전망은 새로운 통합 팩이 출시될 경우 낮춰 질 수도 있다(the profile of these events may be lowered if the new combo pack takes off)고 함
10)IOC의 충고에 반하여(Against the advice of the International Olympic Committee) 이태리 정부는 Milan-Cortina 2026동계올림픽 썰매 슬라이딩 트랙을 Cortina d’Ampezzo에 건설하는데 약 US$8,800만불짜리(약 1,144억원) 계약을 체결할 것을 확인(the Italian government confirmed the nearly-$88 million contract to build a sliding track in Cortina d’Ampezzo for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games)하였다 함. 이태리 재무장관은 카운트다운 시계를 설치하여 모든 사람이 대회 일정의 빡빡한 시간표를 상기시키자고 제안하였다(suggested putting up a countdown clock to remind everyone of the tight timeline) 함
11)FIFA는 기존 32개국에서 48개국출전으로 확대된 2026북중미(미국-캐나다-멕시코)FIFA월드컵축구대회 시합은 6월11일 멕시코 시 Estadio Azteca경기장에서 시작하여 New Jersey 주 East Rutherford소재 MetLife Stadium에서 최종결승전시합을 할 것으로 축구시합일정(match schduel)을 발표함. Dallas의 AT&T Stadium에서 9개 경기와 한번의 준결승전 시합을 포함하여 가장 많은 시합을 진행할 것이며 Atlanta에서는 또 하나의 준결승전 시합을 개최하고 Miami에서는 3~4위전 시합을 개최할 것(Miami will host the third-place match)임. 축구시합경기를 개최하는 다른 미국도시들은 San Francisco, Houston, and Philadelphia가 포함된다고 함 (Other U.S. cities include San Francisco, Houston, and Philadelphia) 월드컵대회는 4개팀 씩 12개조로경기가 치러지며 여행 시간을 최소화하기 위하여 지리적 지역별로 실시된다고 함(The tournament will feature 12 groups of four teams and teams will compete in geographical regions to minimize travel time.)

12)NHL(National Hockey league)와 NHL아이스하키선수 협회 및 국제 아이스하키연맹(IIHF)는 2026년(이태리 Milan-Cortina)과 2030년(프랑스 French Alps)동계올림픽에 미국NHL소속프로아이스하키선수들의 출전하는 협약 서를 체결하였다고 발표하였는데 IIHF가 이들 프로선수들의 핵심 주요소요경비를 부담하는 조건에 서명하였다고 함. NHL미국 포로 아이스하키선수들은 평창2018 및 Beijing2022동계올림픽에는 출전하지 않았음
13)Paris2024조직위원회는 2월6일 대회 새로운 입장권 방출 첫 시리즈를 발표하였는데 이번에는 2월8일에 모든 스포츠종목경기종목 입장권판매를 개시하였으며 몇몇 종목의 경우 새로운 입장권 수가 제한적으로 적었으며(some only offering a few new tickets) 조직위원회의 성명서에 따르면1,000만장의 올림픽 입장권 중 대략 8백만장이 지금까지 판매되었다고(about eight of the 10 million Olympic tickets available have been sold so far) 함.
14)2월2일 외신에 따르면 1월3일 콜롬비아 Barranquilla (COL)가 대회개최를 철회한 후 2027년 Pan American 게임에 파라과이 아순시온과 페루의 리마(2019년 Pan Am대회 개최국)가 유치신청서를 제출하였다고 함. 개최국 최종 결정은 3월3일 임
15)커뮤니케이션 자이언트 BCW가 7개 플랫폼을 아우르는 행사로써 매년 실시하고 있는 소셜 미디어 랭킹 순위 종합집계결과로 발표한 랭킹 순위를 보면 국제 크리켓 이사회(International Cricket Council)가 2023년에도 다시 1위를 점유(annual social-media rankings by communications giant BCW showed the International Cricket Council a solid no. 1 again in 2023 across a combined total from seven platforms)하였으며 FIFA가 그 뒤를 이어 2위인데 나머지 국제연맹들은 훨씬 뒤쳐져 있다(FIFA was a clear second, but was far ahead of all other federations)고 함
16)Seine강변에서 거행될 Paris2024올림픽 개회식 참관 예상 60만명 관람객 수를 프랑스내무부장관은 안전 및 수송교통문제에 따른 이유로 30만명 가량이 될 것이라고 언급하였음(he French Interior Minister said that the crowd for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games on the Seine will be about 300,000, down from the once-projected 600,000 for security and transport reasons.)
