2018년 戊戌(무술)년 새해가 밝았습니다.

 

2018년도 올림픽 년도 새해 첫날이 밝았습니다. (The first morning of the New Year 2018 as Olympic Year has broken.)

 

평창2018개최를 통해 한국은 이제 전 세계 주요 4대 국제스포츠제전을 모두 섭렵한 Grand Slammer(만루홈런) 5번 째 국가(G-5/프랑스-독일-이태리-일본-한국)대열에 등극합니다.

 

평창2018은 이렇게 G-5이자 세계최고 최첨단의 ICT기술을 올림픽에 적용함으로 5G첨단기술 선두주자로도 그 명성을 세계 방방곡곡에 자신감 있게 알릴 것입니다(평창2018=G5+5G)

 

 

평창2018은 오늘(2018.1.2)이 G-38일로 이미 Competition Venues와 Non-Competition Venues모두 Bump-in 및 Move-in이 완료 시점으로 이동 및 최종점검 중으로 대회운영 준비태세(Games Operational Readiness Status)진용을 갖추고 있는 시점으로 사료됩니다.

 

이제는 FOP 및 해당현장에서 모든 이슈해결(Issue Resolution)이 이루어지게끔 효과적인 업무완수를 위한 지혜와 행동지침(Action Code)을 되짚어 보아야 하는 시점입니다.

 

그 동안 26개 테스트이벤트 조직 운영완수와 현재 진행 중인 전국 올림픽성화봉송(OTR)과 더불어 평창2018 동계올림픽 및 패럴림픽 준비태세가 이제 본격적인 현장운영 및 전개체제로 이미 돌입해 있다고 생각합니다.

 

신년 벽두에 북한의 평창2018동계올림픽참가와 관련하여 김정은 북한 노동당 위원장이 1월1일 발표한 신년사 내용 중 “대표단 파견을 포함해 필요한 조치를 취할 용의가 있으며 이를 위해 북 남 당국이 시급히 만날 수도 있을 것”이라는 구절에서 남북한 간의 스포츠교류 가능성을 시시한 것으로 평창2018로써는 5대 목표 중 하나인 “평화올림픽”(a Peace Olympics)을 향한 큰 물꼬를 튼 셈입니다.

김정은위원장은 신년사에서 새해가 남북 모두에게 의미가 있는 해라고 말했으며 북한의 정권수립 70주년과 평창2018 동계올림픽을 언급하면서 올림픽의 성공 개최를 바란다고 밝힌 것으로 알려졌습니다.

 

김정은위원장이 평창2018올림픽을 육성으로 언급한 것은 이번이 처음이며 이번 평창2018 동계올림픽에 북한 대표단을 보낼 가능성이 있음을 시사했다고 합니다.

 

남한 정부를 향해 '대화에서 빠지라'던 지난해까지의 신년사와 다른 모습을 보여준 것이라는 분석입니다.

2018년은 서울1988올림픽 성공개최 후 30년만에 한반도 강원도 평창-강릉-정선에서 개최되는 동계올림픽이 열리는 해입니다.

 

한국은 30년만에 동 하계올림픽(1888 및 2018), FIFA월드컵축구(2002) 및 IAAF세계육상선수권대회(2011년 대구광역시)의 4대 국제 메가 스포츠 이벤트를 모두 석권한 이른바 Grand Slam G-5국가(프랑스-독일-이태리-일본-대한민국)로 우뚝 서게 되었습니다.

 

30년 한 세대 만에 Grand Slam을 달성한 국가는 한국이 최초이자 기록상 유일한 일등국가로 조사결과 나타났습니다. 대한민국 파이팅~

 

평창2018동계올림픽 및 패럴림픽 성공개최는 한국이 전 세계 5대 스포츠 강대국으로 등극하게 되는 화룡점정 글로벌이벤트입니다.

 

홈팀 한국선수단이 평창2018에서 8-4-8(금-은-동)메달 획득으로 종합 4위를 달성하게 될 것으로 믿습니다.

 

평창2018 성공개최 후 올림픽수준의 12개 경기장을 최대한 활용하는 유산계획(Legacy Plan)이 대회 이후 가장 중요한 화두입니다.

 

평창2018개막(2월8일)을 한달 여 앞둔 시점에서 평창2018 경기장 활용계획에 대해 좀더 진취적이고 선 순환적 발상으로 세계 속의 평창2018이 되도록 힘 써야 되겠습니다.

 

다음은 IOC홈페이지에서 밝힌 Thomas Bach IOC위원장의 신년사 (New Year’s Message)전문내용을 정리한 것입니다:

Dear Olympic friends,

 

1)   We are at the start of a great Olympic Year 2018. (우리는 위대한 2018년 올림픽 해를 시작하려는 출발선 상에 서 있음)

2)   When the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 begin in just a few weeks, it will be the first time that the magic of Olympic sport on snow and ice will come to the Republic of Korea. (몇 주 후 평창2018동계올림픽이 시작되면, 설상과 빙상 스포츠의 매직이 대한민국에서 최초로 선보이게 될 것임)

3)   They will showcase a modern Korea and connect its passion to the world. (한국인들은 근대화된 한국을 세계에 선 보일 것이며 한국의 하나된 열정을 전 세계와 소통하고 연결할 것임)

4)   Thanks to the excellent work of the PyeongChang 2018 Organising Committee, the stage is set for the best winter sport athletes of the world to amaze us all with their sporting performances. (평창2018조직위원회의 훌륭한 업무수행덕분에, 이제 지상최고의 동계스포츠 선수들이 전세게 각지에서 모여 들어 그들의 경기력을 발휘하여 우리 모두를 경이롭게 해 줄 무대가 준비완료 상태임)

5)   At the same time, we know about the political tensions on the Korean Peninsula. (동시에 우리는 한반도의 정치적 긴장상태에 대하여 인지하고 있음)

6)   The IOC has addressed them already since 2015. (IOC는 이미 2015년이래 그러한 긴장상태에 대해 언급하여 왔음)

14) It was not an easy road to get to this point. (하지만 이러한 점에 도달하기 위한 여정은 그리 쉽지 않았음)

15) In the last few weeks, the IOC had to address an unprecedented attack on the integrity of the Olympic Games and sport. (지난 몇 주간을 보내면서, IOC는 올림픽대회와 스포츠의 도덕성에 전례 없는 공격에 맞대응 해야 하였음)

16) Based on the findings of the Schmid Commission looking into the systemic manipulation of the anti-doping system in Russia, the IOC Executive Board had to suspend the Russian National Olympic Committee, while creating a path for clean individual athletes to compete in PyeongChang. (Schmd조사위원회가 검토한 결과 러시아에서의 반 도핑 시스템의 체계적인 조작에 대한 적발결과에 근거하여, IOC집행위원회는 러시아올림픽위원회의 자격정지처분을 내릴 수 밖에 없었지만 정직한 개별선수들에 대하여서는 평창2018에 출전하도록 길을 마련해 주었음)

17) After 17 months of painstaking work, we can confidently say that due process was followed throughout. (17개월동안 고통스런 작업 끝에 우리는 관련사안에 대한 정당한 과정 내내 끝까지 준수되었음을 자신 있게 말 할 수 있음)

18) The decision sanctions those responsible for the past violations while creating a path forward for the future. (그 결과 과거의 위반행위에 책임자들에 대하여 제재조치 결정을 내렸으며 미래를 대비한 길을 창출하기도 하였음)

19) This proportional sanction could draw a line under this damaging episode. (이러한 균형 잡힌 제재조치 실행으로 이 피해 막심한 사건에 대하여 선을 그을 수 있었음)

20) It was a difficult decision but it was a necessary one to ensure the integrity of the Olympic Games. (그것은 어려운 결정이었지만 올림픽대회의 도덕성을 확고히 하기 위한 필요한 결단이었음)

21) If everyone draws the right conclusions, it could serve as a catalyst for a more robust anti-doping system under the leadership of WADA. (만일 도든 사람이 올바른 결론을 도출해 낸다면, WADA의 선도 하에 보다 더 튼튼한 반 도핑 시스템을 위한 기폭제로 작용할 수 있을 것임)

22) Despite all these challenges, the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 promise to be very successful and this will just be the beginning of an exciting Olympic year 2018. (이러한 모든 도전과제가 산적해 있음에도 불구하고 평창2018은 매우 성공적 대회가 될 것으로 약속하고 있으며, 이러한 평창2018의 성공개최야말로 박진감 넘치는 올림픽 해인 2018년의 단지 서곡일 뿐임)

23) There are many other events to look forward to, both on and off the field of play, where we will see more reforms of Olympic Agenda 2020 come to fruition. (경기장 안팎 모두에 걸쳐 많은 다른 행사들이 기대에 찬 기지개를 켜고 대기하고 있는 가운데 우리는 Olympic Agenda 2020의 개혁 행보가 결실을 맺게 되는 것을 지켜보게 될 것임)

24) One of these reforms is the new format for the Youth Olympic Games. (이러한 개혁행보들 중 하나가 청소년올림픽대회를 위한 새로운 포맷임)

25) The first to showcase our new approach will be the Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018, which will be more youthful, more urban, and more female. (새로운 접근방식을 선보이게 될 그 첫 번 째는 Buenosaires2018 청소년올림픽이 될 것인 바, 동 대회는 더욱 활력 충만한 청소년 지향, 도시지향, 여성지향대회로 거듭 날 것임)  

26) It will be the first Olympic programme with complete gender equality, a 50-50 balance, with the same number of girls and boys taking part in the same number of sport events. (동 대회는 완전한 양성평등이 실현되는 첫 번째 올림픽프로그램이 될 것인데 남녀동수의 스포츠종목에 남녀동수의 참가선수로 구성되는 50-50 균형이 성취될 것임)

27) This will be another milestone in our continued efforts under Olympic Agenda 2020 to promote gender equality. (이것은 Olympic Agenda 2020하에 양성평등을 촉진하려는 우리의 계속된 노력의 일환으로 추진되는 것이며 또 따른 이정표가 될 것임)

28) With an exciting new format and new sports and disciplines, the Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018 promise to be a festival of sport, youth and culture. (흥미진진한 새로운 포맷과 신규스포츠 및 종목과 함께, Buenosaires2018청소년 올림픽대회는 스포츠와 젊음과 문화가 조화롭게 결합된 축제가 될 전망임)

29) The opening ceremony in the centre of this passionate sports city and the new “parks concept” will bring a new dimension to the YOG, engaging the local population in many activities beyond the actual sport events themselves. (열정 가득한 스포츠 도시이자 새로운 ‘공원개념’을 지향하는 도심에서 거행되는 개회식은 실제 스포츠 이벤트 그 자체를 넘어 많은 다양한 활동이 어우러진 가운데 지역 인구들이 함께 참여함으로써 청소년올림픽<YOG>이 새로운 차원으로 승화되도록 촉진할 것임)

30) In this way, the YOG will be an exciting testing ground for new ideas of engaging young people through sport. (이러한 방식으로, YOG는 스포츠를 통해 젊은이들이 함께 참여하는 새로운 아이디어들을 테스트해 보는 흥미진진한 한마당이 될 것임)

31) Another direct result of Olympic Agenda 2020 will be the very first “Olympism in Action” Forum, taking place in Buenos Aires just ahead of the YOG. (Olympic Agenda 2020의 또 하나의 직접적인 결과로는 ‘움직이는 올림피즘’ 포럼의 첫 사례로 기록될 것인데 YOG직전 Buenos Aires개최도시에서 열릴 것임)

32) It will bring together a community of around 2,000 stakeholders from the Olympic Movement, business, politics and civil society. (동 포럼은 올림픽운동 구성원들, 비즈니스, 정치계 및 시민단체들로부터 참여하는 2,000명 정도의 이해관계 당사자들로 구성되는 하나의 공동체로 결집될 것임)

33) In this new format, we will discuss the most important topics on the agenda of sport and society in the modern world, covering a wide range of subjects including education and health, the future of the Olympic Games, good governance, digitalisation, e-Games/sport among others. 37) In this Olympic year, the focus will also be on enhancing the broadcast of PyeongChang 2018 and providing live coverage from YOG to bring the performances of the young athletes to every corner of the globe. 42) In this context, the new candidature procedure for the Olympic Winter Games 2026 is already underway, with a dialogue phase that puts the focus on a deeper partnership between the IOC and candidate cities from the outset.
