[Beijing2022동계올림픽메달(同心: Together as One) 디자인(앞 뒷면)공개]

 

10월26일 Beijing2022동계올림픽조직위원회는 대회 개막100일을 앞둔 시점(100 days to go until the Olympic Winter Games begin)에서 축하행사의 일환으로 올림픽메달문양을 공개하였다.

메달디자인은 ‘천지의 통합과 사람 마음의 통합’(the unity of heaven and earth and the unity of people’s hearts)이라는 중국 문화적 의미가 함축(Chinese cultural connotation)되어 있는데, 대회에 참가하는 전세계 사람들을 한데 모으는 올림픽 정신(the Olympic spirit of bringing people together from all over the world to participate in the Games)을 상징하기도 한다.

 

올림픽 사상 최초로 동하계올림픽을 모두 개최하는 Beijing(2008하계 및 2022동계)의 의미심장함을 강조(reinforcing the significance of Beijing as the first “dual Olympic city” to host both summer and winter editions of the Olympic and Paralympic Games)하기 위한 옥 문양이 메달 한가운데 표출(echoes the jade-inlaid medals)되어 있다.

 

올림픽 메달 뒷면에는 Beijing2022동계올림픽 엠블렘이 메달 뒷면 중앙에 자리매김하면서 하단에 중국어로 “북경2022 제24회동계올림픽대회”(北京2022年第24届冬季奥林匹克运动会)가 둥글게 아로새겨져 있다.

메달은 각 종목별 명칭이 뒷면 메달 맨 외곽에 새겨질 것이며 뒷면에는 고대천문지도와 유사한 24개의 점들과 아치(24 points and arcs engraved on the rings, similar to an ancient astronomical map)가 그려져 있는데 이는 별이 총총한 광대한 하늘을 상징(symbolizes the vast starry sky)하며 인간과 자연 간의 조화로움 (the harmony between humans and nature)과 함께 대회기간 동안 출전선수들이 최고의 기량을 펼치려는 야망(the ambitions of athletes to reach the very peak of their performance during the Games)을 나타내 주기도 한다.

 

메달 리본은 전통적인 오디(뽕나무)실크 방식을 사용하여 짠 형태(woven using the traditional mulberry silk method)로 되어 있는데 빙상과 설상의 패턴이 대회 로고와 Beijing2022 및 다른 요소들이 함께 프린트되어 있으며(the ice and snow pattern is printed with the emblem of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, the words “Beijing 2022” and other elements) 붉은색 리본은 중국 춘제의 문화적 특징을 반영하면서 춘제의 따뜻한 소망이 선수들에게 전해지도록(The red ribbon reflects the cultural characteristics of the Chinese Spring Festival and extends the festival’s warm wishes to the athletes)하는 의미가 담겨있다.

 

동계올림픽 및 패럴림픽의 메달 문양을 공히 특별하게 디자인되었는데 모두 같은 개념과 문양으로 고취(inspired by the same concept and use the same design) 되어 있다.

 

Beijing2022동계올림픽은 2월4일~20일에 패럴림픽은 3월4일~14일 각각 개최된다.
