[World Games 2029 독일 Karlsruhe개최 및 미식축구국제연맹(IFAF)과 국제 Cheer 유니온(ICU), 국제월드게임협회(IWGA) 정회원단체로 승인 (총 40개 단체)]

1.   2029년 월드 게임 개최지 인준   2029년 월드 게임(The World Games)개최지로 독일의 Karlsruhe가 선출되었는데 월드 게임 개최 사상 독일의 Karlsruhe는 두 번째로 이 종합 대회를 개최하는 첫 도시가 되는 셈입니다.         독일은 국제종합대회를 훌륭하게 치른 경험과 노하우가 증명된 국가로서 지난 1989년 제3회 대회를 Karlsruhe에서 그리고 2005년 제7회 월드 게임을 Duisburg에서 개최한 바 있으며 동하계올림픽과 FIFA월드컵, 세계육상선수권대회 등 수 없는 국제대회를 치른 스포츠 강국입니다.   독일올림픽체육회(DOSB)가 개최도시로 지명한 후 독일 남서부와 프랑스국경인근 지역 유럽의 심장부에 위치한 Karlruhe는 1989년 이래 40년 만에 IWGA(International World Games Association)의 대표적 국제종합대회인 월드 게임을 두 번째로 개최한다고 합니다.   IWGA집행위원회의 유치신청심사과정과 세심한 숙고 끝에 총회대표들은 IWGA집행위원회의 권고를 인준하였는데 동 발표는 독일 Esslingen에서 5월1일 열린 IWGA연례총회회의(AGM)에서 이루어졌다고 합니다.   José Perurena IWGA회장은 동 발표의 중요성을 부각시켰다고 합니다.

2.   IWGA 정회원단체인준(38개에서 40개로/미식축구국제연맹<IFAF> 및 국제 Cheer 유니온<International Cheer Union> 신규 가입 승인)

 

 

독일 Esslingen에서 5월1일 열린 IWGA연례총회회의(AGM)에서 미식축구국제연맹(IFAF: International Federation of American Football) 및 국제 Cheer 유니온(ICU: International Cheer Union) 2개 국제스포츠연맹이 IWGA의 정회원 단체 (full membership status)로 인준 받음으로 IWGA회원단체수는 38개에서 40개로 증가하였다고 합니다.

 

IWGA회원대체대표들은 2개 신규신청국제연맹의 실적과 자격 등을 각각 검토한 후 투표를 통해 2개 단체들을 승인하게 되었다고 합니다.

 

IFAF의 Flag Football과 ICU의 치어리딩(Cheerleading)이란 최고의 스포츠는 이로 인해 Chengdu 2025 월드 게임 정식종목에 각각 포함될 것인바, Flag Football종목은 2022년 미국 Alabama주 Birmingham개최 월드 게임에서 초청종목으로 선 보인 바 있으며 LA 2028 올림픽 추가 정식종목으로도 확정된 바 있습니다.

 

 

1)Flag football이란?

 

(1) 짧고 빠르며 신체접촉이 없는 스포츠로써 미식축구의 가장 접근성이 뛰어나고 포괄적인 버전 (a short, fast and non-contact sport renowned as the most accessible and inclusive version of American football)

 

(2)  이 종목은 역사상 최초로 LA2028올림픽 정식종목으로 채택된 바 있으며(will feature on the official programme of the Olympic Games for the first time in history at Los Angeles in 2028)

 

(3)  Flag 종목은 미식축구에 전세계가 이례적으로 참여하도록 선봉장 역할을 하고 있으며(spearheading exceptional worldwide participation in American football)

 

(4) 100개국이상에서 현재 2천만명으로 추산되는 동호인들이 세부 종목에 참여하고 있으며 청년층, 여성과 소녀들의 참여로 인해 성장세가 뚜렷해 보이는 시장을 형성하고 있음( with an estimated 20 million in more than 100 countries currently playing the discipline and youth audiences, women and girls and new international markets driving further growth.

 

 

2) Cheer란?

 

(1) Cheer는 팀이 참여하는 스포츠로써(an engaging team sport)춤과 곡예/체조 등의 요소들이 외치는 슬로건과 함께 어우러져 스포츠이벤트에서 관중들을 즐겁게 해주며 더 힘차고 열정적인 응원을 고무시키는(Elements of dance and acrobatics are combined with shouted slogans in order to entertain spectators at sporting events and to encourage louder and more enthusiastic cheering)종목 임

 

(2) ICU는 2021년에 IOC로부터 인정받은 종목으로 치어 종목을 주도하는 세계 기구이며 이와 관련된 모든 사항들을 관장함(The ICU was fully recognised by the IOC in 2021 as the world governing body for the Sport of Cheer and its disciplines and the global authority on all matters related to it.)

 

 

IWGA는 비영리 국제스포츠기구로써 IOC가 인정하고 지지하고 있으며 2024년 5월 현재 40개 국제스포츠회원단체들로 구상되어 있습니다(The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations as of 1 May 2024.)

 

IWGA는 4년마다 개최되는 약 35개 종목 경기가 펼쳐지는 월드 게임(TWG: The World Games)을 관장하고 홍보하는 역할을 담당합니다(It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme.)

 

TWG 차기 대회(12회)는 2025년 8월7일~17일(11일간) 중국 Chengdu에서 100여개국으로부터 5,000명이상이 참가할 것으로 예상되며 직전 대회는 2022년 미국 Alababa주 Birmingham에서 개최된 바 있습니다(The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama /USA).
