1)   10월12일 자 한 외신기사제목은 “북한이 평창2018 패럴림픽 참가 신청하다”(North Korea applies to take part in Pyeongchang 2018 Paralympics)였습니다.

2)   연합뉴스에 따르면 강경화 외교부장관은 북한이 지난 5월 IPC에 평창2018 패럴림픽 참가 신청 서류를 제출한 바 있었다고 발언하였음을 보도하였습니다.

 

3)   강장관은 국회국정감사 중에(during a parliamentary audit)북한이 지난 5월 평창2018 출전의사를 나타내는 서한을 보낸 바 있다(North Korea sent the letter to show its intention to compete at the Games in the South in May)고 주장하였다고 합니다.

 

4)   이러한 주장은 한반도에서의 위기고조 시기에 나온 것입니다(It comes at a time of high tension on the Korean peninsula.)

 

5)   IPC관계자는 한편 연합뉴스에게 북한이 실제로 참가할 지(actually compete)의 여부는 아직 불확실하다고(still uncertain)발언하였다고 합니다

8)   보도된 바에 따르면 북한은 IPC에 선수등록절차를 밟지 않고 있는 상태이며 북한은 이전에 동계 패럴림픽 대회에 출전 한 바가 없는 것(North Korea has reportedly not registered any athletes with the IPC and the country has never competed at an edition of the Winter Paralympics before)으로 알려졌습니다.
