Tokyo에서 열린 2018년도 ANOC총회 첫날 Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah는 문서위조혐의에 따라 ANOC회장자리에서 물러나도록 허용해 줄 것을 NOC대표들에게 호소하기 위하여 11월28일 ANOC총회 회의 장소로 돌아올 수 밖에 없었던 상황에서(after he had to return to the General Assembly here today to plead with the members to allow him to stand aside following allegations of forgery) 더욱 강력해진 ANOC회장으로 돌아오겠다(he would "come back stronger" as President of the ANOC)고 주장하였다고 11월20일자 한 외신이 보도하였습니다
Thomas Bach IOC위원장과 Gunilla Lindberg ANOC사무총장 등이 함께 한 자리에서(Flanked by IOC President Thomas Bach and ANOC secretary Gunilla Lindberg) Sheikh Ahmad는 감동적인 연설을 통하여(gave an impassioned speech) ‘잠시’ ANOC수장 직을 내려 놓는 자신의 계획을 지지해 줄 것을 요청하였다(asked for the support for his plan to step down as head of the umbrella body for "a while")고 합니다.
ANOC총회는 그 때 ‘당분간’ Sheikh Ahmad가 자신의 명예를 회복하려고 노력하는 동안 유일한 ANOC회장 후보로서 쿠웨이트 실력자와 함께(with the Kuwaiti powerbroker as the only candidate while Sheikh Ahmad tries to clear his name) 선거를 연기하는 것을 승인하는 것처럼 보였다(The General Assembly then seemingly approved postponing the election "for the time being")고 합니다
