[평창2018 폐회식에 앞서 Sochi 2014동계올림픽폐회식의 화려한 열정의 현장 다시 한번 가보다 Update]

 

평창2018 페회식(2월25일)이 초읽기에 들어 가고 있습니다.

 

개회식에 이어 폐회식을 대비한 리허설 준비에 한창입니다.

 

정확히 4년 전 러시아 흑해 연안 휴양도시인 Sochi에서 있었던 폐회식(2월23일)은 어떠했는지 다시 한번 가보는 시간을 가져 보겠습니다.

 

(1) 소치2014 작별을 고하다(Sochi 2014 bids farewell.)

4년 전 2014년 2월23일 저녁 제23회 동계올림픽 폐회식 시작을 향하여 전 세계 모든 시선이 다시 한번 소치 Ficht 올림픽 스타디움으로 쏠렸습니다.

 

17일 동안 Ficht 올림픽 스타디움은 소치 동계올림픽의 환상적인 역동 현장을 담아 보여주는 세팅 장 역학을 다하였으며(setting for a wonderful curtain-raiser)대회 마지막 날 폐회식에서는 두 시간 반 동안 모든 동작 하나하나가 특별함 그 자체를 선사하며 피날레를 장식한 바 있습니다.

 

 

무드를 이끌어 내기 위하여 올림픽의 여정을 대표한 거대한 노 젓는 배가 등장하여 밤 하늘 스타디움 상단을 맴돌았으며 수 천명의 은색 복장을 한 댄서들은 스타디움 주위를 선회하는 춤을 선 보였습니다.(To set the mood, a giant rowing boat, representing the Olympic journey, hovered above the stadium in the night sky, as thousands of silver-clad dancers whirled around the stadium.)

 

 

 

  

 

 

출연진들은 이어 대형을 갖추면서 개회식에서처럼 5개가 아니라 4개의 오륜을 창출해 냈는데 조직위원회 관계자들은 개회식에서 5개 중 한 개의 링을 제대로 열지 못했던 순간적인 기술적 실수(the momentary technical glitch)를 넌지시 암시하는 듯한 자기비하 성 유머의 순간(a moment of self-deprecating humor)을 연출한 것으로 만회를 시도하기도 하였습니다.

 

 

그것은 신랄한 순간(a poignant moment)이었으며 훌륭히 대회를 치렀다는 것을 대견스러워하면서 스스로에 대하여 웃어 넘길 수 있는 여유를 가질 수 있는 "러시아의 새로운 얼굴"(new face of Russia)을 암시해 주고 있는 한 순간이기도 하였습니다.

 

 

  

 

범 러시아 합창단(Pan-Russia Choir)으로부터 선발된 1,000명의 어린이들은 러시아 국가(Russian national anthem)를 심금을 울리도록 곡을 전달하는(delivered a stirring rendition of the Russian national anthem) 가운데 88개 참가국 선수단들은 다시 한번 스타디움을 행진하였습니다.

  

 

(2) 각국 선수들 중앙무대로(Athletes take centre stage)

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

개최국 러시아선수단은 자국 기를 피겨 스케이팅 금메달리스트인 Maxim Trankov에게 일임하였는데 다른 국가 출신 기수들로는 소치2014 대회를 소치만의 가장 기억되는 순간들을 제공해 준 주인공들이 함께 참여 하였었다고 합니다:

 

 

 

1) 영국의 Lizzy Yarnold(여자 스켈레톤 금메달리스트)

2) 프랑스의 Martin Fourcade(바이어들론 2관왕)

3) 폴란드의 Zbignew Broddka(스피드 스케이팅 금메달리스트:Adler Arena경기장에서 네덜란드 선수들의 독주에 제종을 건 장본인)

4) 노르웨이의 Ole EInar Biorndalen(바이어들론 2관왕: 동계올림피안으로 가장 많은 메달을 딴 기록 보유자)

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

(3) 올림픽 깃발 전달식(the Handover Ceremony of the Olympic Flag)

 

소치 현지 시간 21시40분에 흥겨웠던 공연을 통한 축제 분위기가 멈춰지면서 올림픽 폐회식의 중요한 부분이 이어졌습니다.

 

 

올림픽 깃발 전달식 순서에서 러시아와 그리스 국기 옆에서 휘날리던 오륜이 선명히 아로새겨진 올림픽 깃발은 올림픽 찬가의 곡에 맞추어 하강하였고 깃봉에서 내려진 올림픽 깃발은 Anatoly Pakhmanov소치2014 시장으로부터 그 후에(subsequently) 차기 대회 개최도시 당시 시장인 이석래 평창2018군수에게 전달되었습니다.

 

 

  

 

 

이제 모든 초점이 평창2018에 모아지면서 폐회식장에 운집한 관중은 한국 선수단이 합류한 가운데 '동행'(A Journey Together)이란 주제로 선보인 평창대표단이 준비한 전통 한국 음악과 무용 공연으로 초대 되었습니다

 

 

Dmitry Chernyshenko소치2014 조직위원장은 소치동계올림픽 덕분에 러시아는 전 세계에 러시아가 보여줄 수 있는 역량, "이것은 러시아의 새로운 얼굴이며 우리의 러시아 이다"(This is a new face of Russia-our Russia.)라고 강조하였습니다.

 

 

(4) 선수들의 대회(“The athletes’ Games”)

 

Thomas Bach IOC위원장은 폐회식 연설을 통하여,

 

"친애하는 올림픽 선수 여러분 대단히 감사합니다! (Thank you very much dear Olympic Athletes!)

 

"지난 17일 간 우리 모두에게 영감을 주며 매료시켜 주었습니다.(You have inspired us for the last magnificent 17 days.)

 

"여러분은 매 경기에서 우수한 기량을 유감 없이 보여 주었습니다.(You have excelled in your competitions.)

 

"여러분은 여러분의 정서를 표출함으로 우리 모두와 전 세계 사람들과 공유된 일체감을 심어 주었습니다.(You have shared your emotions with us and the whole world.)

 

 

여러분은 위엄과 존엄을 보여주며 승리를 자축 하였습니다.(You have celebrated victory with dignity.)

 

그리고 패배함에 있어서도 위엄과 존엄을 잃지 않고 받아들였습니다"(And you have accepted defeat with dignity.)

 

 

  

 

 

이어 Bach위원장은 이번 올림픽이 얼마나 올림픽 가치의 핵심인 존중(respect)과 관용(tolerance)을 고양시키고 강화시켜 주었는지에 대하여 강조하였습니다.

"Thank you very much Sochi! Thank you very much Russia!

 

Mr. President of the Russian Federation, good evening dear Olympic friends and fans around the world!

 

Thank you very much dear Olympic Athletes! You have inspired us for the last magnificent 17 days. You have excelled in your competitions.

 

You have shared your emotions with us and the whole world.

 

You have celebrated victory with dignity and accepted defeat with dignity.

 

By living together under one roof in the Olympic Village you send a powerful message from Sochi to the world: the message of a society of peace, tolerance and respect.

I appeal to everybody implicated in confrontation, oppression or violence:

 

Act on this Olympic message of dialogue and peace. We all have enjoyed exceptional conditions in these Olympic Winter Games.

 

 

Our Russian hosts had promised: Excellent sports venues, outstanding Olympic Villages and an impeccable organisation. Tonight we can say: Russia delivered all what it had promised.

 

What took decades in other parts of the world was achieved here in Sochi in just seven years.

 

 

2:

I would like to thank the President of the Russian Federation, Mr. Vladimir Putin, for his personal commitment to the extraordinary success of these Olympic Winter Games.

 

The Russian Government, the Organising Committee, the Russian National Olympic Committee, the IOC Members in Russia and all the people of Sochi and Russia deserve our deep gratitude.

 

To this success the International Olympic Winter Sports Federations, the National Olympic Committees, the sponsors and broadcasters have greatly contributed.

 

I am sure they all will remember these Olympic Games in Sochi and will come back to create a great sport legacy.

 

Thank you very much volunteers!

 

 

You, volunteers, with your warm smile made the sun shine for us every day.

 

Your wonderful engagement will create the legacy of a strong civil society in Russia.

 

 

Through you everybody with an open mind could see the face of a new Russia: efficient and friendly, patriotic and open to the world.

폐회식이 공식적으로 막을 내리기 전에 한 가지 더 감성적이고 유머러스 한 순간을 장식하는 시간이 아직 남아 있었습니다.

  

소치2014 공식 마스코트 세 마리 동물 중 하나인 15m (50-foot)크기의 대형 곰이 무대 위에 등장하였는데 1980년 모스크바 올림픽 폐회식에서 상징적인 순간들 중 하나의 장면을 보여 주듯이 끄덕임으로 올림픽 성화를 불어 끄기 직전 관중들에게 윙크하는 장면이 연출되었습니다.

 

 

  

 

 

22시 9분인 그때 시간 대에 맞추어 시기 적절하게(in time honored fashion) Thomas Bach IOC위원장이 공식적으로 소치2014 동계올림픽의 폐회를 선언하였으며 그럼으로써 차기 대회 개최도시인 한국의 평창에게 길을 열어 주도록 바톤(baton)을 넘겨 주었습니다.

 

 

 

 

 

" 나는 제22회 동계올림픽의 폐회를 선언합니다. 전통에 따라 세계의 젊은이들에게 지금부터 4년 후 우리모두와 함께 평창에서 제23회 동계올림픽을 축하할 것을 촉구하는 바입니다." (I declare the 22nd Olympic Winter Games closed. In accordance with tradition, I call upon the youth of the world to assemble four years from now in PyeongChang to celebrate with us the 23rd Olympic Winter Games.)라고 끝맺음 메시지를 전하였습니다.

 

 

 

 

 

불꽃 놀이가 다시 한번 시 밤 하늘을 수 놓았으며, 자원봉사자들과 선수들은 스타디움 중앙에 함께 운집하였는데 모인 자리가 거대한 중앙 무대로 바뀌면서 피날레 파티 무드를 즐기도록 연출되기도 하였습니다.
